    John Muir

Saddened to hear of the death of former player John Muir. He had a few very good seasons in a good Saints side. He certainly knew his way to goal. I always felt he did better in the early weeks of each season when the pitches were at their best. Heavier pitches inevitably saw him get injured. Great player for us and indeed for Alloa too.

First Round of Games - Poll #2

That's the spirit, let's have a "degrees of sh1tness" poll. To be truthful "We Are Perth" has probably disappointed me most over the last few weeks.

    Hearts v Saints at MURRAYFIELD

Thought Scougall was OK, but Spoony consistently dribbles like Pele then passes like Pingu.

Dave Mckay Testimonial match against DUNDEE Friday 6th Oct.

So fewer people turned up than some expected. It would have been nice if there had been more, but abusing others and / or the committee is unlikely to encourage anyone to organise a future event. Anyone who went along expecting any part of the game to be hard fought was deluding themselves. Personally I found the second half to be one of the most entertaining 45 minutes I have spent at McDiarmid Park. It was just honest to goodness fun. The players treated it that way and everyone else should have too. Full credit to everyone from Dundee who made the event all that it was. Congratulations too to the committee. But most of all thanks to Cuptie for many, many magical moments over the years and good luck to the Binos over the rest of the season. Apologies if this post needs to move to another forum because I haven't abused anyone or called them something that involves asteriks.

What has been your most memorable pre season friendly

Newcastle United. I was in the ground by 3pm but missed the first goal by taking 10 seconds to climb the stairs to the Florence Place terracing!

I'm not as good at remembering aspects of games as some on here. But that's one I can recall in all it's outrageous glory. The ref lost the plot early on then proceeded to get virtually every decision wrong. Came away breathless. Oh for a few more like that!

    FK Trakai (H) - Europa League Round 1 - 29/06/17

Not certain Tommy said there were to be no more players signed. I thought he said there wouldn't be anyone this week. Q Do you expect to bring any more players in between now and next week? TW If I can I can't play them - they can't be registered for it. For the game or just in general? Q Just in general TW No! No!

If you were asked who you wanted to make a last ditch tackle or block in the box, then I'd take Tam Scobbie before any other outfield player at the club.

    St.Johnstone v Rangers

They might have come back out had Pedro not encouraged selfies with a crowd of the unwashed's fans on the track at the dugouts for about 5 minutes while the stewards watched on.

Given that they are rivals for one position, I am always surprised at how supportive they are of each other no matter which of them is currently first choice. I suppose it's part of that team spirit that's propelled Saints to the levels we've seen in recent years.

St. Johnstone v Aberdeen. Saturday 15th April 2017

Me too. I thought Muzz was poor yesterday. I know it's his style but he just threw himself at everything and hoped for the best. I can't really remember him winning a header - apart from one at waist height. He just didn't get into the game. Paton is getting right into the position, tough tackling and some decent passing.

    Saints v Motherwell 17/12/16

If Saints are rugby players then that would explain why we keep scoring 3s and 5s against them....

    Alan Mannus: past his best?

Nick Dasovic and Colin Miller for Canada perhaps?

    Kick off (set play)

If it's going to be a punt then a punt in the style of Malcolm MacDonald at Muirton on 29 July 1972 would suffice.

    MOTM Saints 0 - Kilmarnock 1 - 15/10/16

Ando said after the game that Boyd was his man but that even Boyd had admitted it just bounced off him. These things happen. Otherwise thought Ando had a good game, Alston his best yet and Danny stifled by 3 defenders every time he got near the ball.

    Betfred Cup

Given that Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts miss this round - Saints are top seeds - not just in the North group - never thought I'd see the day! :-)

    MOTM Sants 2 - Celtic 1 - 11/05/16

Good from all, Swanson and Macca first class, but thought Spoony and Tam had right good games too.

I'd give Alston time to see out the play-offs, but Dow wasn't even a certain starter in one of the worst sides to grace the top league for many a year. He seems to have some sort of inflated idea of his own worth. If he hasn't signed by the weekend then he should be told the offer is withdrawn. It's easy to blame agents, but they are employed by the players. If he wanted to be here, he'd have signed in the last week. Most clubs just seem to roll over to this nonsense. The will he, won't he stuff just brings us closer to next season with gaps still needing filled in the side. I can't think of any other area of employment where you can tell the people that have offered you a job, "well I might, if there's nothing better comes along in a few weeks."
