Is this not a bit of a myth about that group of players? They were absolutely rotten for most of that season, and deservedly in the relegation play-off. They weren't good enough to drag us out of finishing second bottom of the league, or to drag us through a cup tie against Kelty. At the point of the split, they had fewer points, fewer goals and a lower league position than our current team does now.
I'm just not sure why people seem to have this view that that team somehow had a better chance of getting through a play-off than the current team would.

3 points that feel like 10!

    What a great result.

P.S. I can't quite get over all these pundits on Sportsound, Sportscene and the rest of it suddenly shouting from the rooftops that they're against VAR. They're the ones who used to spend hours endlessly analysing every refereeing error and moaning about the lack of technology. They're completely complicit in what we've ended up with.

You could write the script for every game but especially against the ugly sisters! Before a ball is kicked you know they are going to get everything…it’s not just VAR that’s killing the game it’s the media too… no one has the guts to speak the truth they are trying to protect their cushy punditry jobs!
It’s only Saints after all, we should know our place. As much as I hate the thought of relegation it might be worth it just to get away from the old firm, who by the way are both third rate! Two penalties! We can hardly get two in a season!
Never mind Rangers back where they belong !!!
    No wonder fans stay away

I like that midfield, Phillips is some boy.
Keltjens looks like a find, also thought Kimpioka did well when he came on.
It's a pity that Max shot at the end didn't go in, it would have been some goal.
The players all look up for it, which is pleasing.
I suppose it's a positive that I'm disappointed we didn't get all three points.
Massive couple of games on the way.

I'd love to see us start this one with May and Clark up front together. Think May will feel he has something to prove and we know he's done well up front with Clark in the past. Feel it's more likely Levein will opt for either Kane or Clark up top on their own, though (which I'll be fine with if we get the right result).

I agree, he was a bit of a surprise appointment but really do wish him well for all our sakes. I must admit that I'm one of those that after our brilliant cup successes we had then 2 absolutely shit seasons did think after the team getting dismantled as it did that we were due a reality check and we've certainly had that so I'm going to stick my neck on the block and say he probably is the best choice going forward and hope he proves a lot of people, myself included wrong and starts to get us back up the table.COYS.

Levein was a surprise appointment to me and I was a bit underwhelmed at first. The truth is Saints could not risk another rookie, not fair on us as supporters and not fair on them. I think we had a good run going down the relatively ‘untried’ line.. Coyle McInnes Lomas Wright Callum it was inevitable our luck would run out! I bet no one saw Callum deliver 2 cups? After our success I heard more than one Saints fan say we’ll probably get relegated now!! Albeit tongue in cheek .. I think the calmness Levein exudes can only be a positive and I am sure now that he is a ‘Saintee’ we the fans will get behind him..

I would be fine with Lennon for the reasons you mentioned, but apparently, he’s next in line for the Republic of Ireland job.
Neilson is the best of an average bunch I suppose.
Although I will throw in a leftfield option here.
I mentioned him in a post a few days back, Leam Richardson, the old Wigan boss.
He managed the team when they were in administration and kept them up, an amazing achievement, when all the decent players were sold and all he had as a squad was out of work players and kids.
So, he has the experience of being in a relegation battle with the odds stacked against him.
The next year after the new owners had taken over, he guided them to promotion as champions, had them playing some great stuff and won the league one manager of the year award.
He obviously then, also knows how to put a winning team together.
Typical of football, they named a stand after him for his success and loyalty when the chips were down, then punted him a few months later because he’d gone six games without a win...only six.
I’ve seen him doing a bit of punditry and he’s always saying how he misses it and would like to return to management.
I don’t know if he’d fancy up here, but he doesn’t seem to have anything else going on at the moment.
As it stands, we’re still an attractive option as a top tier side.
Hopefully that might hold some pulling power.

I think that you could replace almost anyone in that team (except Mitov!) With Ryan McGowan and it would be an improvement. What is going on there??

Listened to game on the radio and it sounded like there was more than the usual smattering of Rule Britannias and GSTQ.No doubt a backlash to the Scottish fans booing their national anthem on Tuesday.

Second half was a lot better.
A missed opportunity in many respects.  That was a very poor Sevco team.
I'm not too worried about the season ahead, I think the basis of a decent team is there. Big up to all Saints fans who turned up today, a pleasure to be amongst it.
It is too year 2023 and still today we hear songs about "No Pope of Rome...no chapels to sadden my eyes" along with songs about hating the tartan army in addition to the love of unelected head of state.  This is still accepted and not questioned. Appalling.
It is beyond doubt that Sevco and their fans are very different to every other football club in Europe.  They have a massive poison unlike no other.
    Bigotry and Fascism.
    Onwards to Hibs comrades....

Think macca has to bite the bullet and bring Ryan McGowan back into the fold either as a centre half or into midfield. He’s a hundred times better than McClelland or Smith.

I think it’s still early days to judge the team. Unfortunately our lack of planning in terms of recruitment means we will are playing catch up and it’s likely to take a few more weeks until all the new players gel and we get a better indication of where we are.
In saying that, we really need to be picking up point’s tomorrow. The next four games include Rangers at home and Hibs and Aberdeen away.

Yeah he seems to have Ange's attack attack attack into possession possession possession.
I thought after seeing them last week against Killie that we might sneek something but still expected a drubbing so didn't dare say.
