  1. To me, yes. Hes added physicality in there so it doesnt entirely rest on Phillips to win those types of battles. Dont think this shape works as well with one of then other, smaller/weaker, CMs in there.
  2. Yeah a very good performance and deserved lead. Key is how they keep it going and not going defensive too quick, if at all. Aberdeen offering nothing but Miovski just needs a half chance, so surely you try and keep the ball up the other end.
  3. Looks like a 4-4-2 so far Mitov Keltjens - McGowan - Gordon - Robinson Smith - Sprangler - Phillips - Jaiyesimi Clark - Kimpioka
  4. Looks like 4-3-3 Mitov Keltjens - McGowan - Gordon - Robinson Smith - Sprangler - Phillips Jaiyesimi - Clark - Kimpioka Did @Aitchy not pretty much suggest that on this site a few days ago?
  5. Think with everything going on behind the scenes, the massive churn of the squad (and lack of experience of this league bar a few players) completed and likely coming again this Summer, and the lack of structure that survives longer than managers, they had a pretty specific criteria. - Experience of the league - Experience running the football department of a club - Experience building a squad And even at this stage youre already low on potential candidates. Might be wrong but Martindale and Levein both tick all those boxes.
  6. Levein said after the match it was "low blood pressure" related, and i think thats all we've had. Sidibeh has generally been ****ed by ~75 minutes in every game ive seen him start, so maybe this is just a culmination of running himself into the ground too often. Presumably a plan will be put in place, helped by doctors, to help him understand how it feels before he reaches that stage and how to help avoid it getting that bad again.
  7. Sure the papers are reporting Sidibeh wont play any part in this game.
  8. Theres an argument the rot set in after the first Scottish Cup win. The club acted horrendously that Summer in terms of helping TW and without him as manager we'd have been far closer to relegation. They took it for granted we'd just forever be bailed out and when it came to a struggle without TW, its fallen apart. The accounts talk about setting up a proper scouting system to support the manager from now on, which hopefully reduces the risk of them struggling to find any players to sign and just going for stragglers.
  9. Where did i compare him to any of the other CBs? Ypu really need to calm down about how much you seem to hate some of the squad, for your own good as much as anything. Its not a good place to be mentally.
  10. I think Kerr Smiths been poor tbh, but if the back 3 is here and McGowan is out, its better than Gordon or Olufunwa playing there. There feels like little point thinking of any set up for this thats not a back 3/5, and i think Kucheriavyi will start simply because he hasnt for a while. Same for Kimpioka.
  11. Its not really though is it? Hes literally frozen Stevie May out, decided straight off Sprangler isnt up to starting, spoken openly about his CBs being too weak to play a back 4 as they need "protected as much as possible", and has sent at least 3 players to train with the youths to squeeze them out. When things are going wrong on the pitch, the players will start second guessing these things.
  12. VAR needs binned whether it goes for us or against us. Acting like its some conspiracy against us is pointless, its just luck of the draw what way theyll get it wrong and us camping in our own box and never getting near our opponents encourages it to work against us.
  13. Nah the lack of spend isnt an excuse over the past few years. Our accounts show we spent over £500k on players in the past 2 seasons (with a further fee spent in January on Sidibeh), and our wage bill last year was over £4.5m. Based on previous figures that would have us closer to Hibs than Livingston. Combine the fees in and we've comfortably been one of the top 6 in terms of money spent over the past 2 seasons. We've just done absolutely **** all with that spending.
  14. Theres enough players in there technically good enough to stay up. Theres too many players in there who are too weak mentally to drag us out a poor run of form. When its all going well they'll be fine, they hit a wee bump in the road then it just collapses. Worst bit is when its going too well they got arrogant and let standards drop. Theyll probably play well on Wednesday and fight like ****, get all the plaudits and pat themselves on the back, then revert to shitebags the next game. We'd be better with worse footballers with better mentalities, and it makes me appreciate ones id probably criticised in the past. People like Anderson, Muzz, and Kane himself, got pelters at different times for not being good enough technically, but you could rely on them more often than not to set standards in terms of effort/fight.
  15. I said that a lack of pace was a problem when Anderson and Wright were our CBs, yet we won a cup with them in a back 4, so why is it impossible (as Levein has claimed) to have Gordon/McGowan/Considine in a back 4? I dont even understand why a back 3/5 is seen as better for a lack of pace back there either, it just means the slowest player in the leagye (Considine) constantly finds himself 1v1 with wingers or in foot races with strikers. People can give him 5 yards and still beat him to balls, yet we're told this protects him more than if he played in a back four.
  16. Get him back. Better to burn out than fade away, as they say. Relegated while playing 2-1-7, with our game at Celtic Park abandoned because he sang The Sash throughout and started a riot.
  17. Same reason we signed Kerr Smith and why Kucheriavyi gets played every game.
  18. Yeah we feel a bit like we did by the end of Davidsons reign now. He wont go though, they'll be hoping he puts plans in place for the Summer early, we stay up, and then the (hopefully) new owners make their move on keeping him or changing.
  19. Think the smallest one in Norway, with a permanent roof, is 15,000 capacity and cost €65m. A stadium in America simply added a roof to theirs and cost around $20m. Know the chat might not be totally serious, but interesting how much a permanent roof pushes the price up.
  20. You wonder who the leaders are, and how theyre acting when hes not around. I always thought Stevie May was a big presence in terms of the off field part of things, yet is completely frozen out.
  21. I think with defensive full backs, we get away with it. Robinson/Gallacher both seem better defensively than anything. Right side the issue but McGowan slots in there? You make it different by playing players in front of the full backs who can play higher up. Phillips/Sprangler in midfield. So you either play a 3rd CM and play defensively weak wingers, so potentially Sidibeh and Jaiyesimi either side of Clark and go 4-3-3, or you could play Carey on one flank. Or 4-4-2 with your hardest working wingers and strikers. We seem to focus so much on "protecting" the most experienced players in our team.
  22. Do we though? We won a cup with Frazer Wright and Steven Anderson at CB in a back four, why is it suddenly unthinkable that two from Gordon, McGowan, and Considine can play the same way? Im not saying theyre as good, but i dont see why a lack of pace at the back now forces us to play a back 5 yet Ando/Wright were fine.
  23. He went for a header just before and took a knock and was done for a bit. I zoned out and switched it off though so dont know what happened between that and him being stretchered away.
  24. A ground moves been spoken about for about 4/5 years due to "rising infrastructure costs", and by all accounts the Browns were looking at new sites throughout that time. It wouldnt be a shock if theyve suggested to the new owners they should be planning to move grounds within the next decade.
