He's had one managerial job in the past 11 years and he hired himself for that one, i doubt hes very in demand.

Aye. Martindale seems to spend most of his free time now trying to help rehabilitate others and regularly visits prisoners to try and encourage them to stay away from crime when theyre released.
Quite why someone who does that, and who rose from literally nothing to a top flight manager through nothing but hard work, is treated with such snobbery is beyond me.
Not everyone is lucky enough to grow up with good role models and have a perfect life.

Im fairly sure its been mentioned that he was asked, unofficially, about any interest before MacLean was hired and said no.
Nothing at the club has changed since he left, and hes now got a job which allows him to both be a football manager and live his life. He wont ever return to club football IMO and to me thats fair enough.

It was applied in some Scandinavian league recently (and a goal scored from the resultant indirect free kick) im sure. But the keeper held onto it for about 30 seconds. Guess refs give some leeway until you take the piss.

For judging players the general rule of thumb is ~800+ minutes, so half thinking do the same for a manager. By that point we should be seeing trends developing.
If youre being kind you only look at the league, so thats 9 games.
So aye if youre being generous then you give him Livingston, Motherwell then Aberdeen, to see what happens and where we seem to be headed.

This is the issue. Youd be looking at desperados like John Hughes who just want to be a top flight manager again, or some rookie like John Kennedy who'd have the exact same issues MacLean has about learning the job as he goes.
Coyle, Lomas and Wright all had some form of season as a manager before being hired and i think thats overlooked. Theyd made mistakes somewhere else and learned from it.
Jody Morris remains the obvious shout but he struggled at Swindon and doubt he wants his 2nd job to be a sinking ship who look certs for relegation.

TW manages Northern Irelands u21 squad just now and i doubt he'll be interested at all in returning to daily football management.

Think Sprangler deep, and Smith/Phillips either side with freedom to attack is the "ideal" scenario for MacLean. Then 2 of the 3 in a 4-4-2?

In fighting at the club blew the chances of a lot of players mentioned more than anything. 
We have to hope MacLean can improve players, and quickly, as just now many look well below the standards needed. Considering its the exact same coaches we've had for the previous 2 seasons suggests its a long shot though.

Phillips vanished the moment he was booked. Tried but you could his first thought about what to do was always how to avoid situations where he could be booked again.
A few players in there who clearly have potential but are so far away from what we need. Im not sure theyll get there quick enough based on what we're seeing.
