I'll be pretty surprised if there's any sort of increase in budget this season. Think the club have already made noises about having to cut back (and that's probably one of the reasons Macca has been given this chance, in all honesty). Davidson was operating with a huge, bloated squad, having squandered a bigger budget than any Saints manager I can remember, and the club will be wanting to pull things back to something closer to normality now.
My worry for this season is Macca could be arriving into a similar situation John Connolly did, trying to pick up the pieces from a predecessor who'd spent a lot of money and failed, inheriting a mess of a squad, and having to try to hit the ground running at a point where the club is tightening its belt and doesn't want to spend money.

My thoughts since Macca took over this old fart has felt a breath of fresh air on a Saturday. I follow the games on BBC sportsound or whatever they call it, the difference I have noticed is we are creating chances. As opposed to the mind numbing Callum ball, now  if the opposition scores I have this feeling we can respond. If Macca can get this auld fart’s ticking faster on a Saturday I’ll back him. I’m 83 so here’s to a few more years of Macca led saints🤙

Macca has more coaching experience than Robson at Aberdeen and he has done quite well. Not sure what Aberdeen fans would initially have thought about that appointment until it became permanent.

Can't argue with any of that this morning!  I can understand why they gave JG a chance, we needed someone who knew the players we had and had a knowledge of our opponents, not really blaming the managers, when an organisation goes so spectacularly off course, it usually comes from the top!  Worrying times for the future.....to start a season with so many highly paid additions, and not have a back up keeper was criminal, key position if MB floppped, and he did, and not replace him in January beggars belief. 

Being better than Davidson, over 4 games, shouldnt be enough to make that decision.
A decision does need made soon though.

Definitely reckon there could be an Ali Crawford-shaped hole in the Dundee jigsaw.

I'm not sure that's entirely the case as they wouldn't have been allowed to charge their home fans £5 and our fans a higher price for an equivalent view. They pretty much had to give the away fans the same deal. Appreciate though that they said in their announcement: 
“It’s also fantastic that the match is against St Johnstone as they look after our fans well when we travel to Perth and offer the cheapest away day ticket for our supporters.”
It's looking like there's going to be a big Hibs support on Saturday, with them filling up the away end, one end of the Main Stand and also now selling tickets for the Ormond Stand. This was always looking like it could be a big game for them and I still think it's a pity the club hasn't tried something a bit more creative to get a big home support in (doesn't need to be £5 tickets, but try something).

Cheers, that was pretty much what I thought. Seems a bit odd that that role has gone to a guy with a playing/coaching background rather than someone with a business/admin background. Of course that's not to say he's not good at doing it.

Don't care at this stage.  McLean in temporary charge is not the right decision - IMO he has been part of the problem.  Bulletproof handing the reigns to McLean is just another example of him not knowing what the f*** he's doing.  Hopefully not long until he's away either.  Would have been better with Liam.
First thing to do is have a change of captain on field, and drop Gordon to the bench for a bit.  Simply not good enough for a long time.  Maybe taking the captains role away will allow him to rediscover some form.
