  1. We can afford the luxury of a player whose game is restricted to just using the ball well. His positioning has been poor every time I've seen him and his workrate doesn't seem to match the rest of the team.
  2. Agree about Crawford, if that's any other player we retain the ball.
  3. Given he was walking after the goal and the ball hadn't indeed torn his foot off, he just stopped playing cause he was sore. He even just steps across and things might have been different. Still not convinced by Crawford. Bair looked much better though and lots to be positive about but chucking the game in the last minute is poor.
  4. Defence look really comfortable. That back 3 looked good together. All talking to each other constantly. Agree with previous comment though that Gordon's distribution was poor but defensively he was excellent. Both wing backs put in a real shift but end product was minimal. Still some flashes of positive play though. May looks a different player with Clark up front Substitutions surprised me,Hallberg seemed knacked during the 2nd half. All in all a good result. That County team are no pushover and I'd say we were the better team. Would love to see a replay of the incidents where May was blocked from pressuing the keeper. They seemed stick on fouls.
  5. Yeah, looked like the whole family was there. Did win some headers when we were defending corners right enough. Really hope he can turn it around, maybe not having the pressure of being the only striker other than May will see him improve.
  6. Bit of an up and down game. St Mirren rarely threatened but we did back of, particularly the start of the 2nd half. Mitchell was excellent, can see why Gordon can't get in the side. Was surprised to see Carey so deep but seemed to work well. What a difference Clark made. Real quality up to great in the air and a real nuisance. May seemed to feed of that. Really liking the look of Matthews, his distribution looks excellent and he seems really athletic. Phillips is my kind of midfielder, looks like he'll be excellent given time. Overall felt we were the better team, defence were solid and only concern was perhaps Bair, ball just didn't stick when he came on. Needs to work hard if he's going to get game time. Looked totally deflated when he missed his chance. Definitely have the opportunity to pick up some points the next few games.
  7. This inability to score will see us down. Every game we are at the mercy of a single wonder strike or poor decision. Most other teams would have drawn today. Defence seems OK but that won't be enough. Also concerning that Davidson sees Bair and May as similar players. Surely they tactics should change when May inevitably comes on as they have different attributes but that doesn't seem to be the case. I've nearly always been positive about Saints but something has to change in the coaching, the recruitment and the tactics. This group of players cannot play this system. And I'm sorry Davidson has lost the right to have time to "get it right". He's got 3 more games to get some results or someone else gets a go. Bit gauling that Wright never got close to this budget Davidson has been given, imagine the 2014-2015 season with this level of investment.
  8. Same story as last season. Inability to score leaving us susceptible poor decisions by refs.
  9. We were asked to renew our existing seats and we'd then be contacted to select seats in the main stand. We're only paying Ormond stand prices.
  10. Has anyone who renewed their Ormond stand tickes been contacted about choosing their replacement in the Main Stand?
  11. I got an email this afternoon giving us advance notice that the Ormond stand won't be open this season and our season ticket seats will be moved to the main stand. Guessing they'll be going on sale soon if they are putting this communication out. Gutted though, had great seats in the Ormond, not sure I'll such a good set in the main stand.
  12. Whole coaching team should collect their things tonight no matter what the result is. At every single point we have had a chance to dig ourselves out we've blown it. Team is a reflection of their lack of ability.
  13. Have a feeling this blow to our goal difference is going to cost us. 5 goal swing doesn't look impossible for Dundee who seem capable if scoring.
  14. Didn't quite pick the ball up, but definitely put at least one hand on the ball, with the ref looking at him, before playing on. Very strange moment indeed. Here's a video of it, skip to 1:34, oh and turn down the sound if you aren't interested in listening to celtic fans.
  15. St Mirren more realistic. They have Rangers next week so likely they'll be in the bottom six with a similar goal difference. 6 points isn't an impossible gap to make up in the last 5 games. Still unlikely but great to Still be in touching distance from safety. Dundee probably thinking the same though.
  16. I think we're at the stage of needing to win at least half of our remaining games to finish 11th. An embarrassing state of affairs really and one that will need lot of questions to be answered at the end of the season. No team should ever take top flight football for granted but I think we had every right to expect a decent season this time out. It's crazy to say but perhaps we were incredibly lucky last season and the coaching staff got results well beyond their abilities. Perhaps they never engineered last season so have no idea why it worked and so can turn things around this time out. We are this season's relegation front runners. Dundee will pick up points and we simply will not. A quite pathetic way to end our run in the too flight.
  17. Martindale maybe drill various formations and systems regularly. Changing to 4-x-x isn't as simple as just sticking 4 at the back. Players transitions during play and responsibilities on the pitch change. Most may have played with a back 4 but if Davidson doesn't drill it his way he's relying on the players' previous coaches drill. We were successful last year because our system suited our players, teams weren't used to how we played but most of all the players knew exactly what they were doing at every stage. At the moment I feel we're missing penetration down the left and right and there's no quality coming in from the side and nobody in the middle is providing anything. Spoony, Booth, Conway, Macnamara and Rooney were chucking balls in for fun last season or driving into the box...issue there was our strikers. I do think Brown and Booth suit a 4 at the back but we'll loose our first game that we try that if there's not several weeks of preparation.
  18. Unless we get a couple of game changers in 2 points is about right. A lot of talk about changing system l but if Davidson hasn't done any drills on new formations, we're not likely to see the team adopting any major change before the split. It'll take weeks to change it, can't see that happening so we need players who suit the system. I'm not giving up hope yet and , as I said to anyone who would listen last summer, I'd not be overwhelmingly upset about relegation given our double. But the club need to sit down this summer, no matter how things go, and take a look at what happened this season. We can't keep bleating about "loosing" Kerr and Ali, lot of water under the bridge since then.
  19. Is it really that unlikely that we won't score for the rest of the season? Davidson has a he'll of a lot of hard work to turn this around. Is it 11 goals all season?
  20. Have to say it looks like some players have for whatever reason chucked it. Don't know if they are pursuing other deals or what but the squad needs to get the finger out next week. They can bloody well start training in the afternoons.
  21. Anybody got a Kelty Taxi number? I'm happy to make the call.
  22. Even if (and that is a massive IF) we win this, it does nothing to improve confidence that we are a team capable of climbing the table. Loose this and Davidson is on a very shoogly Peg. All the credit he built up with last season has gone now I'm afraid. Next 2 games are must score let alone must win. Any of this shower (apart from Zander) looking to pastures new will have a brass neck looking for better terms. A series of players I'm Monday morning thank you and maybe we'll salvage something from this binfire of a season.
