I think that’s a valid point, particularly on refereeing decisions. You could easily argue we should be maybe 6 points better off at least, possibly more were it not for quite frankly awful decisions.

we still wouldn’t be sitting pretty with those additional points but we would be in the mix for staying up. Throw in half a dozen goals from Rooney that we have missed, plus the creativity of Spoonyand it starts to stack up that we have been dealt a terrible hand this season.

not saying we haven’t been poor at times and could have done better, but it does genuinely feel like the football gods have conspired against us.

Has any other manager in the last ten seasons had to deal with the amount of injuries incurred this season ?
I won’t mention the dodgy decisions against.

These same idiots calling for Callum to go . Dissect my posts and come up with that trash  .
It was the village idiot weeks ago when I said Callum wouldn’t get the sack . Then the club gave him money for 8 signings .
We’ve needed them with all the players out injured and still he’s picking up points when we should be about 15 adrift of the pack .
I’ll say it again who are the club gonna get for the same money who’s won more than Callum . What attacking minded professor will they bring in to keep the WAPwolves at bay .
Is there a boss of this club everyone liked as manager  . Alex Rennie , Alex Totten , Del , Owen Coyle , Tommy . Think Wright , Rennie and Totten were the only ones not using it as a stepping stone . Callum certainly isn’t .
I honestly think he can still turn this round . If he doesn’t then he’ll of given it a bloody good try considering all the obstacles everyone up the park has had to contend with .
We had a good natter on Tuesday going up to Aberdeen and everyone in the motor was still 100% behind Callum .
I’m not looking for anyone to agree with me or not .

I think its a bit early to be writing off our new players. Last night was not great, but we had previously went three games undefeated, which was a big improvement on our form before the transfer window. I think Cleary has slotted in well and looks comfortable at this level, Gallacher has obvious qualities but needs to become a bit more streetwise, Hallberg has added much needed quality into midfield and whilst early days, Bair and Mahon on the face of it look like promising signings.
January was always going to be a difficult month for us to bring players in. I am led to believe we tried to sign Jordan Jones, but when it is a choice of playing for a relegation threatened team or a team challenging for top 6 and still in the Scottish Cup, he was always going to chose St Mirren. Look at Forrest as well, why would he leave Livingston to come to us when there was is real possibility we will get relegated. It all goes back to the summer when we failed to add quality from a position of strength and sold our best two players on the last day of the window
I don't see us getting rid of Davidson anytime soon. Steve Brown wont have backed him to the extent he has and then sack him a few weeks later. The only way that may change is if we get completely detached at the bottom of the table and the support completely turn on Davidson, then the board would have a decision to make. I have criticised Davidson for many things this season, but as suggested elsewhere, I dont think the blame can be entirely placed on him. The Chairman and board should have supported the manager better in the summer transfer window and not rolled over when Preston came calling for McCann. The Head of Football Operations , the man responsible for convincing players to sign contracts could have done better, Zak Rudden the prefect example of that and finally the head of recruitment is not completely blameless either with some of his recommendation such as Eetu Vertainen looking completely out of his depth at this level. Combine all that with losing many key players (Rooney, Bryson, Spoony, MOH, Ciftci and Kane) and some horrendous referring decisions going against us, then its all contributed towards where we are now.
I personally feel that it will go right to the wire between us and Dundee. Both teams as bad as each other.

Can’t legislate for losing your new striker so early either. That’s likely another needed in.

Moan if it’s a loan , moan we’re giving players contracts , moan that it’s a defender , moan that they don’t keep it quiet , moan that the club don’t tell them anything , moan that we don’t have enough midfielders , moan that we don’t have enough attackers , moan that we never preempt a player leaving, moan when do preempt a player leaving .

Looking ominous for Saints, reminds me of when Utd went down. We sold GMS, Armstrong, Shifty, in a quick succession this was compounded by letting go: Fojut, Gardyne, Erskine players who might not be the same class as the A list, but still seasoned top flight performers.  Similarly losing Kane an Spoony has been a huge blow, at the worst moment.  All is not lost, it’s only half time and if anyone deserves a shot at correcting this it’s CD.  Couple of decent signings in Jan and this team can get back to the well drilled performances the coaches instilled so effectively last season.

I think the winter break arrived at the right moment for Saints (and United!).

so let’s raise a glass (half full) and enjoy New Year! All the best my WAP friends, I hope you and yours are blessed in the coming year! Xxx

Up until the Motherwell games, I was confident that we would turn things around, however the performances in the past two games have sucked all enthusiasm out of me and its now clear that we are in deep trouble.
Given his achievements last season and the fact that changing a manager so close to such a crucial transfer window could be disruptive, I think we should stick with Davidson just now. History has proven over the past few years that clubs who were in a similar position to us just now, who did change their management team, found no real upturn in their fortunes. in fact for many of them it got worse after a change was made. Butcher at Hibs, Mixu at Dundee United and  McIntyre at Dundee all examples of that. Last season proved that Callum is a manager that can set up and coach a team well. He needs to become less stubborn and be more flexible with his tactics, but he hasn't just become a poor manager in the space of a few months.
I really hope that the club can get players in early in the January window and preferably players on permanent contracts rather than loans. There can be no excuses. I have my concerns about the fact there are four individuals involved in the recruitment process (Callum, Brown, Grieve and Boyd) and given comments on social media there already seems to be grievances between some of the individuals already, but hopefully the individuals can put these aside for the greater good. The big issue we will have is that clubs and agents will know that we are desperate and we will likely have to pay considerably more for any targets that we do have.
I dont think the blame for our current situation can be put down to one single person. There has been a number of factors that have led us to where we currently are. Our recruitment should have been better and done far earlier in the summer. We were and still are crying out for better options in an attacking sense.  I note that many are pointing the finger at Steve Brown for the way that Kerr and McCann were let go and given the benefit of hindsight I would be interested to hear if he would now change the way he handled that situation. In regards to Kerr, I think it was a no brainer. Given he could have signed a pre contract 6 months later, the deal we got at the time was good. In regards to McCann, we found ourselves in a situation where both the player and agent were pushing the deal, which was understandable given the life changing amounts of money he was being offered. Perhaps we could have stood our ground, but then you are left with an unhappy player and run the risk of a similar situation occurring as did with Danny Griffin who turned down Derby and then got injured and was never the same player again.
Throw in the above and the fact that we have a number of players coming to the end of their contracts who look like they would rather be elsewhere, players on short term loans and one or two players whose best day are behind them, then the perfect storm has been created.
I actually think the COVID shutdown may benefit us. I had very little confidence that we would take anything out of the three scheduled games and we could well have found ourselves even more detached at the bottom. Hopefully the break allows us to get players in and gives the whole club a chance to reflect on what is going wrong and try to address the issue's. Interesting few weeks ahead.....

I love when things go wrong the first person saints fans blame is Steve Brown. In my opinion the only thing he’s done wrong is sell McCann too late in the window. Other than that he’s paid a fee for a player, put wage rises in front of other members of the squad, allowed Davidson to bring in players he’s identified and even given him and extends contract.

Hardly his fault that he’s got a manager who is currently unable to get his team playing football, who have issues with injuries and members of the squad who are simply not committed or caring about the team. There’s bigger issues with this saints squad right now to even be casting aspersions at the chairman, right now our issues are stemming on the park, which he can’t control.

Quite liked the Plough, I was one of the lucky "dad's to be" as all 3 of my daughters were born in the PRI before they closed the matty and started transferring expectant parents through to Ninewells. Infact I still have some of the Save the PRI merchandise stored along with other baby stuff. I enjoyed many celebratory pints with Meikie etc and the place had doss pool tables

There were times in the game where we perhaps could have been braver on the ball, but I thought the tactics were the most likely to give us an opportunity to get through. Completely get the argument that the football in the league (especially at home) should be a bit more expansive and entertaining, but in a cup game I want to get through and being entertained is not at all a consideration.
We limited the opportunities they had very well, and one small error from Zander and a missed handball and we were punished. But the effort and discipline was excellent and thought we gave a really good show of ourselves.

The day was fantastic as well, massive well done to those who organised the shed, and to the young team who organised the march to the ground and never stopped singing all game. Superb being part of such a passionate and supportive crowd. Numbers might have been poor but couldn’t ask for more from those that were there.

Really good defence of our trophy, hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves in the big one as well.

1 - It was never copied and pasted.
2 - I did think about it I thought how can I tell this guy he is havering whilst being nice about it.
3 - Yes I agree underspending is a danger and is something that you have to be careful of. But to criticise someone for underspending when they have successfully run the club through one of the most difficult periods football in the world has gone through in history is akin to criticising Callum for only winning the double last season.
4 - I take it you are not a fan of the Browns which raises the question WHY??

Why not let him go out on loan? He'd done pretty much nothing in the chances he'd had for us this season.
