Do they not have a load of long term season tickets? I could be half remembering something but sure as part of the fan buy out, there were multi-season tickets?

I think some are blinded by their hatred and are not prepared to listen to any argument.

Cheers guys. Going to hang fire on the trip north. After 2 nights with no where decent to stay and 3 nights in a Sally Army bedsit, the landlady of my new local came to my rescue as one of her friends was upgrading some properties locally. Numbers were exchanged and viewings arranged and I managed to get a decent furnished flat here in Sheffield. No bond and no deposit either! All done on trust as I seemed like a decent guy! This morning he even brought me a continental quilt and a couple of pillows! Furthermore he has said that in 6 weeks or thereabouts the new properties will start becoming available and one will have my name on it if I want.

Sometimes it is definitely not what you know but who you know!

I agree with you on much of this. Personally I prefer subtle and non branded stuff. I'd love a non sponsored saints top and I'm almost sorry that the sponsors logo hasn't fallen off this seasons away kit.

It's far from just a football/sport phenomenon however. Big logos appear to be in, or at the very least people don't seem to mind. Look at companies like Bench, Gap, Fenchurch & the like. Their clothes(And many other brand's) are basically adverts for the brands.

I agree with your overall point but please forgive my slight pedantry here as I always feel the need to point out that when "Rangers" found themselves in the Third Division it was certainly not by way of punishment. Neither were they relegated (which is something else I often hear said).
They were a brand new club, who had never before competed in the Premier League, and as such the only possible and ethical entry point for them into our league system was via the bottom end. Far from being punished, they were in many ways given preferential treatment, as at that point they had no previous accounts, no players, and no name - yet they were allowed to leapfrog other non-league clubs who were not even invited to apply. Had they been refused entry to the Third Division on the basis that they were essentially non-existant as a footballing entity, where would "Rangers" be now?

Oh yes......got a nice tax rebate last week. Hopefully go towards a euro trip this year - just don't tell swmbo! My last year too.......unless I drag out my PhD until this time next year when I get my season ticket

What makes you so sure? He's a former Linfoeld manager and a Norn friend of mine has referred to them as "the Scrappy Doo to Rangers' Scooby Doo." Hardly a massive leap to assume that's where his allegiances would lie.

Obviously he's a sensible guy and you'd hope the stability and opportunities we're able to provide are enough to keep him but if they throw money at him(which they will) coupled with his (assumed) allegiance then we could be about to lose a great manager! :-/

I agree. But I also think that it settles down the fans that need to see the club visibly looking for players and succeeding in doing so and Saints certainly needed to show that this season. It's kind of a publicity stunt in a way. Even if it goes wrong it can get you a new minibus.....

As convenient as it would be for me if we drew West Ham, I really don't want us to get drawn against an English team. We'd have very little chance of progressing and, aside from that, the disdain with which many English sides seem to treat the tournament is a bit annoying.
 
The very least I generally hope for is a draw that takes us outside the British Isles. I think we were possibly a little spoiled with Luzern last year, though - that has to be the most beautiful place I've ever been to watch a Saints match (without meaning any disrespect to Airdrie and Coatbridge, obviously).

If we get in, we'll be seeded most likely in Round 1 as our coefficient is 6.080 which blows most other entrants out the water.

I'm not sure if we'd then remain seeded into Round 2 but I'd have my doubts as a few clubs with European pedigree then enter. Either way we'll be seeded for Round 3 if we made it as we'd wither take someone's seeded place or remain seeded ourselves, whichever is applicable.

We'd then........Quite frankly be in dreamland....
