  1. I don't think they should drop the prices for this. Possibly dropping prices for a not very enticing fixture, but this is two of the form teams in the league going head to head in a Saturday 3pm game. We offer plenty decent deals as it is.just promote the hell out of this game every day between now and a week on Saturday. I think the blue and white day would be good, get the old España cani scarf swirling on the go again for kick off. The club should also be pushing every single supporter from the Accies game to bring at least one extra Saints fan along.
  2. That's a disgraceful statement from Grant. Firstly, because it's utter nonsense. It's mentioned elsewhere he won the MOTM poll on here for his performance in that game. A lot of us possibly slated the team for showing a lack of fight, but don't recall anyone singling out Zander. Secondly, he's slagging off a potential future squad member, how is that meant to provide encouragement. Just a bland statement about how they thought Bain was the best choice right now, but they're aware of the good recent form of a couple of goalkeepers in the Scottish league, would have sufficed.
  3. Really tough choice, could pick many. Drey Wright first half, though I think he had a quieter second half. Craig doing a great job in centre mid as many have said. Even through this barren spell, Tony Watt's play in leading the line is sheer class. A definite mention also for Tanser and Wotherspoon... We've all been going on recently about how good a pairing Foster and Wright have been down the right, and rightly so. But they were overshadowed by Tanser and Spoony in the second half, who were outstanding. However, Matt Kennedy gets it for me. Running with the ball with real pace and strength, great skill and a goal threat, in that second half he was tremendous. A pleasure to watch him play on a Saturday.
  4. That's a personal bugbear of mine. The attendance should be how many were actually there! I hate the way clubs do that, eveen worse when the likes of Ross County include all the free tickets they've given away to schools even if they don't get used. Hopefully word spreads about how good yesterday's performance was and more come along in a fortnight. Somebody suggested turning the killie game into a blue & white day, or possibly in the week leading up to the game the club do a PLUSone push in the media, where they encourage everyone who attended the Accies game to bring at least one lapsed Saints fan along with them. killie will bring a great support through, so it should be a great atmosphere, as well as a cracking match.
  5. I agree with the principle of not changing a winning team, but we've done it every match during this run!
  6. Tough decision. But the goal at the end capped off a fine performance and sealed it for Joe in my eyes. Fair play to our subs this week, all had a major impact. Credit to the manager for the positive changes as well, would have been easy to settle for a credible 0-0 draw, but we went for it and got what we deserved.
  7. I would consider bringing in a left back as cover if it doesn't look like Easton will be ready. It's the only position where we don't really have a natural replacement if Tanser gets injured. I know Foster can play there, but it's his wrong side. Someone along the lines of young Smith we got in from Preston a year or two back. Wonder if a few younger lads will go out on loan.. Kyle McLean, Ali McCann, Aaron Comrie etc. With the squad we have it looks hard for them to even get on the bench very often, and thats with a few first team players out injured. Would have said same as you about Nydham, but he got his first start and had an impact on the game on Saturday so who knows. For me, unless he turns out to be absolutely outstanding over the next few weeks, if he's mostly going to be a sub, I'd rather one of our own young lads got the experience of doing that role instead.
  8. Our throw ins have been poor for a while! It was possibly the Motherwell game I noticed we had a lack of options and movement, and lost possession nearly every time.
  9. That's quite a positive article. Now, or in the break after the Accies game if we manage to get a good result, would be good times to try to tie up Joe, Tony, Foster and Liam Gordon. Surely be easier when players are on a high and enjoying the winning feeling you'd imagine. Would rather get it sorted before January, when clubs have downtime to plan for the next season and can tie players up on PCA's. Never quite sure what an option to extend by a further year means.. does it just mean on the same terms, as surely there's always the option to extend by a year (or longer) for everyone.
  10. The thing is, Tommy has shown clearly that he is a 'horses for courses' guy this season. Players will drop in and out depending on the opposition. After 12 league games we've already given starts to 20 different players.
  11. Who all attended past players wise? Was Tommy there? Who did the speeches?
  12. Our fixtures between now and Christmas make for interesting reading. Unless I've missed a game somewhere, we're at home for 5 out of 6 of them! Hamilton (H) Sat 10th November Kilmarnock (H) Sat 24th November Hearts (H) Wed 5th December Aberdeen (A) Sat 8th December Motherwell (H) Sat 15th December Rangers (H) Sun 23rd December
  13. Please tell me you are kidding?!!
  14. Wasn’t confident at all after hearing our team line up, but that was a brilliant performance from Saints. Halfway thru first half went 4-3-1-2 and continued to be positive the whole game after weathering a but of hibs pressure early in the second half. Zander and the back four were outstanding. Callaghan and Nydham, who I admit to being critical of pre-match, had good games. I thought Callaghan in particular was excellent. Our attacking options are frightening. Swanson was right up for it from the second he came on. Cracking ball in from Spoony for the goal. And the scenes at the goal were brilliant. Great to turn in a performance in front of a very good travelling support.
  15. Big decision whether to stay back three or go back to the four. Would like to see Wrightin for Spoony if we stay the same formation, to give us a greater threat on the counter, but if it's a back four it'll be Gordon who drops out for Wright I'd imagine. Swanson will be an impact sub in the second half. Looking forward to it, a draw would be reasonable, but taking all three points here would be brilliant, and set us up nicely for back to back home matches.
  16. i was at that one as well. Paul Deas was at Livi , as well as former hearts legend John Robertson with Raymond Stewart the manager according to the highlights. I remember the ground being fairly full, but I can’t remember Almondvale only having the three stands initially.
  17. I know what you are saying about some adult regulars feeling they get nothing back for it. Last season we had an offer for hospitality for one of the less attractive games (possibly Accies?). Season ticket holders could get the hospitality for £50 but could bring along non-season ticket holders for £60, which included their match admission, which ST holders have obviously already paid for. Made me think a ST holder is there every week and is getting a poorer deal than folk that potentially only come along occasionally. Its a tough one, as if you don't do deals like reduced entry to occasional fans for OF games, then how are you going to entice more people along? But on the flip side, I think it's probably already quite tempting for many to pick and choose games rather than keep the season ticket on, and we don't want to give more season ticket holders reason to not renew.
  18. A solid performance from most, defence stood up well to high balls into the box and all three centre backs doing well. Joe was very dominant in the air. But it's the skills of Tony Watt that win the award for me. An excellent display of leading the line. A couple of goals and good performances over the next two games and a Scotland call up incoming....
  19. Great 3 points and another clean sheet. We've rediscovered our fight, our defensive solidity and desire to win these past three matches, and I was amongst many who questioned these qualities during the difficult run. Our three centre backs were excellent in the air and stood up to everything, and the wing backs seemed to be targeted with the long diagonals but both coped really well overall. A battle mostly, but you can't help but admire the sublime skills of Tony Watt. Some of his touches to pull the ball out the air or to spin his man, or his runs past defenders when he looks surrounded with nowhere to go. Great to see him straight back on it after a disappointing game on Saturday. Looking forward to Saturday, absolutely should be looking to go there and win. With a solid defence, hard working midfield but our threat on the counter, we're more than capable. Very good number of Saints fans there tonight, was pleasantly surprised. Be nice to add another few hundred onto the 405 at Easter Road..
  20. Fair do's, agree nobody needs an excuse at not going, it's personal choice. It was the last line I didn't get.. I'm thinking maybe I've missed previous posts from someone on the style of play issue.
  21. I'm completely confused by your post Scott. I detect there's sarcasm in there, but I can't fathom who it's aimed at or what you're actually meaning here!
  22. I felt a few had decent games. Full backs good, centre halves were solid. Drey and Kennedy were lively and Spoony had a good game. Went for Muzz in the end, thought he really dominated in the second half and drove us on. He might not be the captain, but we are a different team with him in there as it seems to lift everybody.
  23. I'm sure there was talk of this a few years ago as they reckoned a lot of folk that played football on a saturday would be able to head along. I personally like matches on a Saturday afternoon, and don't like it during the season when we've no game on a Saturday, but can see the after work appeal of what you are suggesting. For some it might also free up the whole weekend for family stuff if there's no football in the way? I despise and resent the current international breaks, there are so many of them it just disrupts the season constantly.
