101 Saint
The Fish & Chip Shop company in Cragie is the best by miles. Nane o' yer foreign crap, just a regular fish and chip shop where the grub is well cooked and the service is near flawless. Prices are more than fair. sausageman
Auld Louie up in Garth Ave was a good ane. Used to open at dinner time to sell penny sweets to the school bairns. What chippy started the home delivery in Perth? Oldermoresensiblepack

208saint
Definitely Holdgates, many's the time after a game in the bad old days before Geoff and a fair few afterwards, it was off the minibus in South St, into the Tavie for half a dozen pints then over the road for a great fish supper or white pudding (sometimes both!) then out for the night. Aye them were the days!!!!
nips
Can't say I've actually been to that many Perth chippies as I pretty much stick to what I know - but the chips at Marini's next to the retail park are doss. Also fond of a white pudding supper from the Diamond on Rannoch Road. dan loves saints
john.w
Watsons in Methven St, Stefanis in the South St, Farqhuars Leonard St, the one in Craigie was good, the first three fellow old farts will remember:laugh:

What chippy started the home delivery in Perth? Step forward the chippy on Glengarry Road, I think it was called Ronaldo's at the time? It was over 20 years ago now... Derek Patterson
The Fish & Chip Shop company in Cragie is the best by miles. Have to agree. Got a fish supper after getting back from Glasgow tonight and it was excellent. Been to Holdgates a few times recently but the Craigie one was much nicer. SingaporeSaint
In the past Farquars in St Leonards Street and Holdgates were immense.

Jings
Holdgates was the biz, and easily the best in my lifetime, until Freddie Hill retired that is. Freddie was the "MAN". Simply unbeatable. I go to St.Leonards brig now. Probably the best in town, and excellent service.
Mike180279
The only time I really ever went to a chippy was when I was blootered. They are pretty much the same to me.......
garydavidson
Chippies in Glasgow are rubbish. Back in the day I was forced into chip shop labour in Inverness and we held the title of Scotland best fish and chip shop for 2 years running. So my view of what a good chippie is has been tainted by those many free meals.
Kevin
Afishionados in the Old High Street cook the fish to order, always fresh and plenty of it too - be hungry if you go in there!! On the downside, I wandered off from the 208 on Saturday and decided to try the chippie on Crieff Road where Aladdins used to be, walked in and the place was rank with stale/rancid oil. Decided to forget it and went home for toast and cheese.....
Hotrod88
The best chippie is the 1o1 in north muirton.I have been a few time and there fried pizza suppers are amazing there fish is good and there kebaba are great. The worst one is creiff road chippie.Got a fish supper from there the other week the chips were rank and the fish tasted like it was a few weeks past it's best
Jamie_Beatson
I'm not actually a great fan of Craigie chippy. Dunno why, been a few years since I've bought anything there, so might have to give it another go since it will be my nearest chippy when I move in a few weeks! My favourite chippy is, unfortunately, in Belfast
SingaporeSaint
Craigie chippie has always been good but its a bit out of the way unless you are driving.

mapleleaf
In my day, Holdgates was very good, but my best was Cavellinis (Sp?) just off Hunter Crescent. The fish and chips were excellent and I would have jumped into the fryer for a kiss at Patsy Orange's lips. What a beautiful girl. Hang about....I'd still jump into the fryer. Smudge (Ah, Patsy, ya wee stotter!) S
