I was at tonight’s game and Danzell looked a real unit , big guy , gets stuck in . Didn’t make any errors. And nearly scored a screamer at the end (makes sense as his wiki says he started off as a striker). Def looked promising.

The striker ? Scored a goal but it was scrappy , see what u think those that are at the Linfield game. The team only had that chance first half so didn’t see much of him .

LB same again didn’t do anything wrong , part of a nice bit of play that nearly led to a goal.

All in that would be over £350k, would they make that much from promotion considering theyd likely be losing a derby?

Genuinely dont know btw, not sure what the difference in income is.

It’s the sort of signing that will get a few extra season tickets for this campaign alone.

A decent cup run and promotion would be worth considerably more than £350,000 to Dundee United.

Their season ticket sale would double overnight if they won promotion, nevermind the extra TV/Sponsorship money.

Goals win matches, winning more matches than you lose tends into to make you money.

If he scores 20+ goals, it will have been a great investment. He is on a 3 year deal as well so not only will they make profit from all of the aforementioned but if he bangs in the goals this season, there will be plenty of clubs sniffing around ready to pay more than £350,000 for a genuine goal scorer..

He scored 6 goals in the final 5 months of the season...

Jack Hendry on a season long loan worth a punt?

Would Celtic dictate that he plays a certain number of games?

Is he better than Liam Gordon or Steven Anderson?

Jack Hendry wouldnt even get in our Colt side.

Season long loan deals involving other clubs in the SPL are useless. You have a settled team with a player doing well then when you play his parent club you have to change the team, or get through to a cup semi or even final and have to change a team.

I'm sure saints would have been interested but his move to DUFC shows lack of ambition as obviously happy to spend another 3 years in Scotland second flight.

It's fine having ambition but it also says a lot that, for all the talk about Shankland, it looks like there was no better offer on the table.

How did you come up with that one? No. Yes. No. As others have said. Resoundingly no :)

Have we had any successful loan players,SPFL on not.

It may be that some of them never got decent runs in team but I struggle to think of any that made an impact.

Leigh Jenkison. Lovenkrands to name but 2

Neither of those players were on loan though?

Alan Kernaghan was originally on loan when he came to us and obviously did very well. I'm struggling to think of many others who made much of an impact. Gwion Edwards was alright in flashes I guess.

Craig Russell also got kept on after a decent loan spell but then ended up being injured most of the time.

What a useless statistic to quote - but then you already knew that.

2018/19

29 starts in the Championship, 24 goals.

6 starts in the League Cup, 9 goals.

1 start in the Scottish Cup, 1 goal.

Michael O'Halloran (second spell), George Williams, Darnell Fisher, Danny Swanson, Brian Graham, James Dunne, Gwion Edwards, Mehdi Abeid, Cillian Sheridan, Lee Croft, Kenny Deuchar, Liam Craig, Rocco Quinn, Stuart McCaffrey, Filipe Morais and Allan McGregor.

Matty Willock and Clive Smith didn't do too badly either.

What was Graham Cummins first six months at Sainst like?

He got 6 in 11 games.

Players have purple patches.

Impressed by your memory.

There are a few in there that some would argue with but I am just happy to instigate discussion in a boring close season.

Was that patch not also interrupted by injury?

We can only sit and wait to see if Shankland will recapture the pre-injury form next season.  There has been a lot said about MOH needing a full pre-season so it may be the same for Shankland.
