Richard Brittain

He's signed an agreement, he is worth a good bit of money we need him in the midfield next season if we let him go for nothing that is not good business. We should stick to our side of the agreement and given that he is a professional footballer he will want to play football and if he wants a move elsewhere later on then he has to play and we can cash in then. Makes no sense to let him stay at County for nothing.

Brittain made a decision and he should honour it, regardless of what came along after he signed the PCA and what his 'new' feelings are.

Somebody has managed this really badly from his side.

Of course, if it is the THE Rangers that want him, it's not a problem for them as they specialise in a lack of integrity

I think we should let Saints deal with it as they see fit after hearing his reasons. His wife may be suffering after their recent birth, and I'll accept him putting family first if that's the real reason

Agreed, if there are genuine reasons that are not money orientated (nothing wrong with wanting to earn more, but the fact is he made a decision and should honour it as I said above) then we as a club and as supporters should appreciate that this situation has arisen due to him actually being a decent human being, putting the welfare of his family first.

Until we know the real reasons though, we can only specualte based on what we have heard and discuss the possibilities

Just look at some of the sacrifices made by players from England who have come here. 2 years here challenging for Euro spots then back to County if he fancies living there so much.

Personal reasons; Vine, Doobs,Jody and Lomas himself have all taken tough decisions to get on.

I'm sure a Broon hoose on favourable conditions won't destroy the fabric of his life.

The more I think about this, the more i think that Brittain and his agent and his club have embarrassed St Johnstone and treated SJFC with disrespect.

I am unimpressed and really dont want him at MY club anymore regardless of how above average he is.

I would agree with you if we were paying a fee, but this is Countys best player we are getting for nothing why would we want to help them out by giving him back for nothing.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if, heaven forbid, he was to suffer a serious injury between now and the end of the season.  I would fully expect Saints to honour the contract regardless of how long he was anticipated to be out for.  Thats the whole point in these PCAs!

Interesting how Lomas mentions we turned down players to focus on him. I think this is the real crux of the issue, as Brittains clearly cost us money and possibly forced us to miss out on a few other players due to agreeing to sign for us. And now we're left without him and without the others we could've signed if he doesn't move

Daily Record mentions £200,000 as County wanted £50,000 to get him in January - http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ross-county-boss-derek-adams-1836765

This makes me think we're gonna see this drag on a bit longer yet. Ross County have been very vocal considering this has only been in the press less than 48 hours. It's enough to make you think they really want to keep him, but I think their claim that they wont pay a penny, along with Adams quoted saying he couldn't guarantee the door would be kept open for him, is to distance themselves from showing interest retaining Brittain and keeping themselves out of trouble.

If they said they would welcome him back then it would hint towards talks having taken place and them playing a part in his change of mind. We have in the past couple of days read that the chairman was unhappy when he returned from holiday to find Brittain had signed our PCA, do they expect us to believe he hasn't tried to convince Brittain to stay? surely that would be almost a tapping up offence? I doubt we'll want to let him go and just re-sign for County, I could see us denying him cancellation of his contract agreement and taking further action when he refuses to sign our contract in July. Based on our limited response, it seems we expect Brittain to turn up at McDiarmid Park as planned for the contract signing and haven't accepted his calls for the contract to be torn up.
