HOODLUM65 Posted August 28, 2015 Report Share Posted August 28, 2015 I note that the new £23 million Bertha Park secondary school project, which was due to be operational by no later than March 31 2018, is to be delayed by a year, due to parents raising objections with the Council, to having to move their children mid-way through the term.It has taken parents to point out to the elected COUNCILLORS that it might not be in the best interests of the pupils to move mid-term and new 1st year pupils to move twice in a year.Surely there is one brain among the elected Councillors that could have foreseen the parents concerns, before it took the parents to make them aware.By the Council stating they will delay the schools operational opening by a year, does that mean it will open on March 31 2019, which of course will be mid-term? HOODLUM65 Posted August 28, 2015 Report Share Posted August 28, 2015 Also note that Greene King, who applied to the Council for planning permission to open a restaurant in Lamberkine Drive Broxden, but got refused, have won their appeal.How much of OUR money will this Council waste defending these actions.This seems like a regular occurrence where stubbornness/short sightedness by the Planning department in refusing people/companies, who wish to invest in Perth, but get a knock back, win their appeal. The Bertha Park development is the reason why this link road is being built as it will be a second roundabout and bridge about 200m north of the one at Tesco. Because of this massive development our so called council is planning to destroy much of what it allegedly supported when we won the cup, just to fund itself and give jobs and contracts to their cronies, allegedly. I have seen the plans and am disgusted that PKC could treat Saints in such a non-democratic way!! The Saints are battling to block Perth and Kinross Council’s so-called crematorium road project, which will connect the city with development land at Inveralmond and Bertha Park and create thousands of jobs and homes.The proposed relief route is planned for land next to McDiarmid Park and the club’s management claims it could see the loss of a crucial training pitch. The council is using compulsory purchase powers to buy the land and Scottish ministers have called a public inquiry to determine if the work can proceed.Now, St Johnstone has indicated it is close to reaching a compromise deal with the council and is considering withdrawing its objection to the compulsory purchase order. In a letter to the government’s appeals division, which is leading the inquiry, club representative Jim Low asked for extra time to submit its written testimonial and to “allow our negotiations with the council to progress”.He added: “We believe that there is the prospect of a settlement that would permit the club to withdraw its objection and that resources may be best spent on that exercise, rather than on preparation of the Statement of Case.”Though the council faces objections from the Pilkington Trust, the Stewart Milne Group and the trustees of Robert Reid, St Johnstone’s opposition has been by far the biggest stumbling block.A council spokeswoman declined to comment on the letter but confirmed negotiations with the club are ongoing.The road will also run through woods beside Perth Crematorium, a move described by opponents as “cold blooded” and “heartless” because it will disrupt land where hundreds of ashes have been scattered.No one from St Johnstone was available for comment.
