MrBored
I'm judging it over a lot longer than Stevenson's first spell. If it was working so well, why was it neglected and Geoff, a firm believer in it, give up on it. Just because other clubs do it well doesn't mean it works for everyone. If having a successful youth system was so easy everyone would be doing it and there would be no need for a transfer market! The Browns are driven by finances. I'd love to see a balance sheet for our youth set up over the years. I don't think it would make good reading. We picked up Easton from Berwick didn't we? Hardly ours. Same as Brown. Thank you Bradford. Thats true. Easton was at Berwick. The club have already said that they feel this has been something they have neglected and are trying to rectify, local lads playing for their local side....however, realistically, given the age the decent youngsters get picked up at nowadays I would have thought it is going to be a good number of years before we have more than one or two who come right through the ranks rather than picking up ones who have been let go elsewhere...not that that is a bad thing, quite a number of young lads are let go for a variety of reasons and turn out to be very decent. I'd agree, if you went back and looked at the quality that has come through the youth, it won't make pretty reading...but hopefully we are changing that. Mike180279
The only time I can recall fan pressure influencing the boards thoughts was during the rangers saga when season ticket renewals were held. The club made all the right noises following the cup win, and season ticket application postage. Mmmmmm, wonder if this was always the plan. Had the fans not stood up, we would of let rangers in the league. No doubt about it. Would of been an embarrassment then and selling May for 800k is an embarrassment now. byebyedundee
I'm genuinely sorry the sincerity of your post was lost on me. However to be fair this was probably down to the fact so many of your posts on this thread and others have been very negative and often come across as defensive/aggressive to those that don't agree with you. I do also find it hard to believe I was the only one that read your post as sarcastic, but I'm sorry that I've made that mistake. Is it ok if I don't read the whole thread again, the once was enough for me. Do you want us all to post to confirm when we've read it so that you can authorise when we're allowed to post "stories". There's really no need to be condescending, having said that, if we're going down that route I think you mean "essays" rather than "stories", darling. :-* I was merely trying to join in the discourse on a subject that seems to have caused much debate around the club. A club I hold very dear to my heart and feel very positive about the changes that are being made and want to show my support for this. Im sorry if my post was too long for you, or I put too much thought into it but I don't doubt that a bit of extra thought into a few other posts round here wouldn't go a miss. I've been thinking a lot about the clear and apparent Steve Browns Boys Club who are enjoying the jolly and European travel that comes with being a director . Let's see a bit more hard work here and tap into their PR skills that clearly they must have being business men . I get so angry knowing that Stewart Duff did more work than all of them put together. That's it I'm over and out I will not respond on this post again .

Saint.Justin
Stewart Duff was hardly the master of PR. I'm sure he managed to piss off most of us on various occasions. He kicked me and my driving instructor out of the carpark once when i was having my first driving lesson learning to steer, my instructor and me told him we were both season ticket holders and he said he didn't care. Saintdunc
Now we are established in the top league, does Steve Brown want his yo-yo back?
mainstand
The references to Steve Brown and the other directors as a Boys Club seems rather strange. These guys may well receive a trip on a club euro visit and a seat in the Directors box but just how much are they saving the Club through unpaid work, Something none of us know the answer to. BBD I take it you would jump at the chance to join the Board and Steves Boys Club as you put it.

Pat McGroin
I might be wrong but the youth development was neglected around the time Stevenson left. Bit harsh to judge our youth system at the mo since we've only really put some effort into it in the past season or two. Easton would be the next I'd expect to make an impact from what I've seen of him. Correct. GB was ANTI youth development. Always said it was an expensive waste of money more or less. Tranmere Saintee
Whatever the rights of BBD's grudge, to hold up Duff, who was a paid member of the Saints staff for many years, as now hard directors should work just shoots himself in the foot big style. As a PR man he was guilty of stifling all attempts to promote the club. gingermunkie, mainstand and Saintdunc

Saint Ziggy Stardust
Who is Bob Reid? In the most recent publicly available list of shareholders he has by far the biggest holding after GB. Bob Reid owns exactly 20 percent of the shares in fact. No particular reason for wanting to know, just nosey.

Saint Ziggy Stardust
Seems Bob Reid is Bruce McDiarmid's nephew. The 20 percent share was what Bruce got in exchange for his land so I assume Bob inherited them when Bruce died.
