Danny Swanson

Knee jerk because Tommy had to get someone in, he was an easy target. Most fans remember what he was doing for the short while he was here and properly fit. Takes the heat off the fact there was no-one else on the radar, even though it was almost certain this deal was going through early on.

Well, I hope also that he can prove himself.... I remain to be convinced.

We've been after Swanson for ages, with or without O'Halloran. It's pretty much the exact opposite of a knee-jerk signing.

Really hope he works at it here and does well for us.

Reports from the Pink Bus Shelter do not augur well though. The guys on KickBack mention bad attitude, poor work rate, bad discipline, a set-to with Nielsen, lots of moaning, lack of match fitness. Others, more reasonably, lament the lack of chances he got to prove himself - only had 9 games on show.

You can put up with someone spiky if he plays well. Attitude and discipline can be coped with. The fitness will need some real attention and hard work though.

Maybe because it was Levein that signed him and Neilsen wasn't too keen, so could have been a clash with the greasy haired one, but I suppose all they guys on Kickback will know the exact story, bit like everyone on here knew the full O'H and ticket fiasco stories!!

Hearts don't have Steven MacLean, I imagine he sorts out any bad attitudes in the squad pretty quickly.

Seriously though I think, as has been said, that perhaps the team and management just weren't right for him. Perhaps he thought the extra money could compensate for this but has decided it can't/

At the end of the day Swanson has come out and said his wife played a big part, she will know him better than any fans and if she was able to compare his mental state when he was at Saints with when he was at Hearts and came to the conclusion Saints was a better move then perhaps we'll see him perform better than Hearts did.

When you watch his Utd highlight reel on the first page of this thread, and watch the highlights of the game at dens last season, you see how two-footed he is, how creative and how fast when running with the ball.

Dont think we'll see it this weekend, but the prospect of watching a fit and in-form Swanson and young whippet Thomson on either wing, with Maclean and Zippy through the middle, is really exciting.. As has been mentioned a few times already!

Hearts are a more skillful and pacey version of Hamilton.  They are dirty, waste time and basically do whatever is necessary to get the points.  There head coach comes across exactly that way in his interviews as well.  Not a complaint, more an observation.

The fact that Swanson didn't fit into that regime is no massive indictment on his footballing ability for me.

That post is way too positive. You don't fit in here.
