HOODLUM65 Posted May 6, 2016 Report Share Posted May 6, 2016 Yes 13 y.o. Northcott who must be the smallest striker to have played on McDiarmid came on as a sub.He challenged the 6ft plus sub. Keeper who had the ba!l at his feet & attempted to clear.Northcott got a block on the clearance and the keeper fell to the ground, leaving the young striker the easy task of netting the well deserved winner.Excellent performance with Saints having several great chances to have taken the lead earlier in the second half, including a shot headed off the goal line. Ball was in play for long periods unlike pro football that's littered with loads of throw ins and fouls breaking the game up. The speed and ability of both teams were impressive. Good fair solid tackles was pleasing to see.Thought Saints fully deserved the win, United never threatened second half. No real school boy errors apart from their goalkeeper being caught in possession for the winning goal. Decent crowd over a thousand. Was great to see every player technically and comfortable with the ball at their feet, very seldom was there a boot up the park... In fact I don't really recall any boots. However saints footballing ability shown through and were deserved winners. The team chased down every lost cause, which allowed us to created chances. Not often you see that at first team level now adays. Well worth the trip up tonight.
