blueheaven
Interesting topic on the Dundee's fan site entitled Saintees - why we are successful... https://forum.thedarkblues.co.uk/topic/9241-saintees/?page=1 Fans of every similar-sized club must surely be thinking the same thing. Just look at St Mirren - it's not that long ago they were doing better than us. The fact that Dundee's fans on there are trapped in this "we're the bigger club" mindset is probably part of their problem. Most Scottish clubs around our level are pretty much the same in terms of size, and any could potentially do what Saints have done. Ensuring your club's future by making a stadium a priority, not over-spending on players, making good managerial appointments, keeping some consistency behind the scenes, and generally trying to do the simple things right - none of these things are rocket science, but managing to do all of them over a long term period is basically why Saints are where Saints are. Always fascinates me why, if Dundee are supposedly such a big club in the eyes of their fans, they can't just replicate what Saints have done and be twice as successful. But they always seem to want to have some sort of sugar daddy figure at the top, and that's where things go wrong. Dundee have never been a successful club in my entire lifetime, so the idea of them as a "big club" just seems delusional (besides irrelevant). To be honest, Dundee (along with Dundee Utd) should have built a good new stadium decades ago, instead of pissing money away on players they couldn't afford, and they'd be reaping the rewards now. Dave H
Saints are "Boring to watch" says the Dundee fan watching Sportscene highlights. I think our start to the season, 5 away games in 8 is our purple patch... Just waiting for the tattie field at McD to return and anticipate a poor middle of season with us not winning as many at home and thus to blow away the dreams of winning the league. We also realise as fans, the low times could just be around the corner... did it not take us a decade to get promoted back to top flight footy? blueheaven
That Dundee forum makes for some enjoyable reading today. Hartley coming under a lot of pressure from their fans... can't say I blame them. Still, at least they're a HUGE club and all that.
Smarmy Arab
PH is the best manager they have had for a generation they would be mad to sack him.......but they probably will. They sacked Jocky when his team were top of the league.........sacking PH will be easy if he is bottom.
Abernethy Saint
Monty - I see the Dundee forum DOES have a "no player" category in their MotM thingy. It won at a canter this week! Dundee were bloody dire.

Dundee were bloody dire. I asked WAP members if they did or didn't want the 'horseshit' option, and it was a landslide victory for removing it. You are of course welcome to take over the MOTM polls, and do them whatever way you want, whenever you fancy.
