We didn't seem to have a thread dedicated to the actual competition yet.

Here's a cheery stat from the Daily Sevco to kick things off: apparently, of the 576 clubs entering at the First Qualifying Round stage over the years, a grand total of 6 have made it through to the Group Stages. Rosenberg did it twice.

The Daily Sevco ended their article with a wee poll on whether Sevco would be the seventh. Currently 59% of them think they will. Bless.

I think it would be pretty rank if we didn't get to the 2nd qualifier, and being seeded there, should really expect to get to the third. Then maybe a big glamour tie and out with a bang?

Four rounds to get through before the group stages, the fourth of which always sees some big teams joining in. Everton and Marseille are two I can immediately think of for this season. I don't honestly think any of our Scottish teams will get past that.

I would love to see us up against a team of that calibre all the same, and if it's"out with a bang" then so be it.

3rd qualifying round a minimum

That article states home/away in the first or second leg will be luck of the draw. I was under the impression that the seeded team was at home in the second leg, obviously mistakenly.

When we played Rosenberg they were  the seeded side yet we played them at home first?

When we played Lucerne they were the seeded side yet we played them at home first?

I would assume ESES was the same?

so I do not think it matters it is the luck of the draw.

We played all those sides away from home in the first leg.

The Minsk game was also away first. The only game of recent seasons where we have payed at home first was the Tranava game

See what you meant now, probably would have been less confusing  to say we played them at their ground for the first leg

Thanks for the reprimand Shibby!   I would have thought that is was more a error in my  grammar than my English ?

However I have never needed to be good at English grammar since I left school and it has never held  back one bit.

I also found in life no one likes a smart arse either .

Wasn't being a smartarse mate but you did say the total opposite of what you meant and everyone read the opposite of what you meant.

No offence intended. Peace.

Or is it offense? LAUGH OUT LOUD

At myself not at you.

FEED FOR THE GAME
The draw will be streamed live from UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland via www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/

FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND (matches 29 June & 6 July)

Entries

100 clubs enter in the first qualifying round.

Seedings

Teams ranked according to their coefficient and further split into seeding groups prior to the draw.

Draw procedure

  • Each side in each seeding group is allocated a number. Balls containing the seeded numbers are placed in one bowl, with balls for the unseeded numbers in the same group positioned in another.
  • A ball is taken from each bowl and put into a large empty bowl in the middle, where they are shuffled.
  • The clubs whose numbers correspond to the first ball drawn play their first game at home, against the teams whose numbers match the next ball drawn.

SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND (matches 13 & 20 July)

Entries

16 clubs enter in the second qualifying round, joined by 50 winners from the first qualifying round.

Seedings

  • Teams are ranked according to their coefficient and further split into seeding groups prior to the draw.
  • The groupings for the second qualifying round are made after the first qualifying round draw. The balls representing the winners of each first qualifying round tie take the coefficient of the seeded club in each tie.
