Saints v Celtic 4/11/17

107 posts in this topic

If none of the injured players make it, this would be my team today:

Clark

Comrie - Anderson - Shaughnessy - Tanser

Paton

Foster - Alston - Craig - Wotherspoon

MacLean

You can largely go man for man with that formation; Paton can sit on Rogic or whoever and Foster likewise on Tierney. One of the other central players then tries to force Brown. If you are brave enough to press high, you can also steal some cheap territory, as happened with our goal at Celtic Park.

Looking for us to be competitive today, anything else is a bonus. Not looking for favours from Bobby Madden but just the correct calls.

1-0 Saints. Today's the day that football weaves it's strange magic over the game as only it can when Denny Johnstone comes off the bench to end his old teams record against all the odds.

Or 6-0 Celtic.

Sun and Courier have Arabs linked with a move for Tommy - we must be playing one of the Bigot Bros today then.....

If he goes then Steve has to demand Tommy takes Denny with him. They wanted him too after all.

Scougall should make it but of the two I’d rather O’Halloran made it. Happy to see Tanser get his opportunity.

If only we saw this kind of passion and determination from Paul Paton every week. Might not be in the rut we are in.

Its also a shame that Foster didn’t bring the passion from kicking dressing room doors or fighting with teammates into effect against opposition

Facing our "attack" must be the easiest shift a defender will have all year. Some spirit and passion but in a different league and if we are not careful so will Saints be ...literally.

It's a discussion forum! I'm entitled to say how I feel as are you. IMO we are heading out of the league. Others may disagree, I can live with that!

"If you defend well but keep giving the ball back to them, eventually they will wear you down and very quickly, if they get that first goal, they can score two or three in a short space of time." Tommy's quote before the match today!

Well we certainly didn't defend well and has been the case far too often we didn't keep the ball either, played with an isolated striker and no-one willing to get further upfield at the crucial times I fear this is only the start of a rut we will be unable to get out of.

I cannot see where our goals will come from and with a defence leaking goals it's going to be a difficult few months coming up for players and manager, but mostly the fans!
