Thought it was an excellent article and hit the nail squarely on the head. Before anyone accuses me of being one of the ‘happy clappy ‘ fans, I too have watched Saints up and down ALL the divisions, so consider this episode as a blip in an otherwise successful 10 years... we are a team in transition and if anyone deserves time to turns things around it’s Tommy Wright.. for those fans calling for his ‘head’ be careful what you wish for! If we are relegated then we just have to take the good with the bad, hopefully won’t come to that. In the meantime let’s get behind our wee diddy team.. byebyedundee
If I was Tommy I’d gracefully resign and tell the fans thx for the best time ever and be quite clear that I’ve done all I could he’ll get the fans respect rather than get sacked and Brown goes and gets Ross
Johnny B
Tommy is only part of the problem. Our recruiting over the summer was bad and very late. The players are a major part of the problem. IF we bring in a new manager, he will inherit Tommy's players and he too will not be able to turn our imature and inexperienced back four into a defensive unit. He will not be able to turn May into a loan striker but he can play 2 up front. Steve Clarke has the same problem with Scotland if you do not have the players you will not succeed. We do not have the defensive players therefor no matter what manager we bring in he will fail. Tommy will stay because it is not viable to get rid of him and a new manager will not improve the players we have

Is it too unrealistic to believe that lightening can strike twice in the same place, or are we just dire on the footballing, management, and coaching, side? Lomas went 12 games without a win until we beat Celtic, but that was over the course of two seasons and including a post split run of fixtures against the top six. We started Lomas' only full season with no wins in 5. We've not started a top flight season with no wins in 9 since 2001/02. Any other winless run has been either after a winning run, of when we're already safe. Starting a season with one sets the tone.

If Tommy thinks this is his best squad he has lost the plot compare it with his Cup winning squad how many are better none.

Do you think someone afraid of losing their job performs better? Do you think someone who isn't confident in their own skills and experience is the right man to be St Johnstone manager? blueheaven
dublin saint
Think we missed an opportunity by not getting Callum Davidson back on board. Anyway good luck at Millwall sir Johnny B

What message does he send to his players if he comes out and says he shite scared of losing his job because theyve not been performing? Massive pressure on the players as it is, let's heap more onto them, as that's how everyone works best. templeofsaints and blueheaven
Bruno Strasser
If Tommy manages to extricate us from the situation we are in now it will be a bigger achievement than winning the cup. We are not playing as a team nd have an inexperienced defence which are a bombscare with zero confidence throughout the team. I think what he said was that he could not afford to worry every night about his job or he would be a wreck and unable to do what he was wanting to do. Linky
Obviously he's going to say that he's not afraid of losing his job. It would be crazy to say anything other. A lot might depend on how much left he has on his contract, and therefore how much it would cost. Even at this stage, the other options aren't very appealing. Gary Holt is the only option that I think could do a good job. Otherwise it's relegation with McCall, Coyle, etc. etc. Let's stick with Tommy instead.
