Broon
I suspect it's maybe Paddys choice. Saying that, if my boss was playing Gary Macdonald instead of me I'd reject a contract too. Insulting. R.B.B:- Adz
Can only assume that both players wanted assurances of first team football in the coming year and Tommy couldn't promise that. Two very talented players who enhanced our squad greatly. Very sad to see both go regardless of how much game time they might get next season. Padge was awesome in the euro games last season and Nigel scored a couple of goals at vital times. I imagine both will be snapped up fairly easily if the haven't already. ex-montrosesaintee
Got to wonder how many of our departing players will end up at Dundee, who will undoubtedly need to invest substantially in their squad to ensure they stay up, or it could be a big effort to get promoted again, considering the opposition. Given their previous history, I guess they'll be spending beyond their means to revive the sleeping giant of Tayside THE LARK SAINT

THE LARK SAINT
Terrible news about Padge getting released. Gutted for the guy,who never let the team down and battled every game. He was just never in TW plans after the turn of the year. I liked him as well but we move on!Good Luck Paddy
rik2304
I did like Paddy Cregg but I think the money could be better spent and with everyone fit there is a lot of competition for his place. Shame for Clancy he has been really unlucky with injuries.
Templar Saint
Was speaking to Nigel at POY Awards Dinner and he said they were in discussions regarding his contract. So it can be taken that there must have an area or areas discussed that could not be resolved. Good luck wee man and just remenber you won something uncle Jimmy didnae. ajs
Footballs a harsh game but Tommy Wright has made the right decisions here, brilliant news about Miller and Anderson, we probably need one more defender in as cover, 1/2 midfielders in and a different option up front. Compare the contract situations to this time last year and we are in a far better place. Well done Tommy, Callum and Steve Brown
HOODLUM65
In his interview (s), Tommy did state he wanted to bring in a bit of quality next season and followed this up by adding that there were talented young guys at the club. You can be sure he has players in mind, as far as bringing guys in is concerned. Looks like he is reducing the salary budget to enable him to get his targets. Would not rule out James Dunne at this stage.

Scobby_SJFC
All to do with money for me, both are good players but we have plenty cover for Paddy and Nigel's positions. Nigel will be on a good bit of money which we cannot afford for a player who is far too inconstant. In Tommy we trust
dave mc
Thought we'd keep Nigel and Paddy, but thought Paddy's lack of mobility at times was found out this season,Nigel was the one I worried about most,as he'd drifted out of the starting 11 for a while now,and i'm not sure he'd want to be squad player, hopefully TW has players in mind to improve on them
PerthSeany
Not entirely shocking. I think Nigel has started one game since the cup quarter final.
Cagey
Tommy wants to bring in 3 or 4 players so 4 had to go & the 4 that have gone are no surprise to me.Surprised Banks got another year though.
ex-montrosesaintee
Surprised Banks got another year though. Obviously a good guy to have at the club with so many promising young keepers in our ranks, and his presence as a back-up allows Clark another year on loan which will be of great benefit to him. Smart and cost effective solution. Edited May 22, 2014 by montrosesaintee
Abernethy Saint
No brainer. To keep that team means higher wages, higher bonuses. Plus I guess Tommy is keeping some cash back for a couple of signings. That means some folk have to go. Devestated over Nigel. That one's down to ITWT. More devastated over Clancy. Hope the club, and/or Clancy's insurance company, are going to look after the lad. "Oh God he's missed" - braw guy, so glad we could give him a medal in the twilight of his career. Bet it's the one he talks most about, as well. Deffo a coach, if British football can get past it's "yer black ,you can't be as manager" thing. RandomGuy
Discuss. Miller in for Mackay and Scobbie in for Wright are the most obvious answers, both are proven at this level in the roles we'd be playing them. I don't think thats how we'll actually replace them, but due to the fact innumerable players out there who could come in, then its pretty pointless speculating about them. byebyedundee
PerthSeany
Throw another name in there. Rodgers if he develops. Left sided cb. Big guy
lang toon saintie
If we can get Dunne back and give Muzz an initial short term contract then we really only need a left sided midfielder one more striker and a central defender.
lethamsaintee
Getting Dunne back would be smashing. Perhaps that other striker could maybe be Kane? stanley saint
sasha
Nice to see some talk of youth players coming through, however what chance do they have when Scottish fans are so impatient. To sustain most clubs in Scotland youth needs to play a bigger factor. Give them a chance.
