Rangers will have sold their allocation because: a. They have 40k season ticket holders b. I've always thought he's a lot better than some of the hopeless cases we get in the First Division. Our referees are a joke compared to English Premier ones though. Who do we go with up front against Rangers? I'm not sure Holmes can have much effect. Pity Jackson's been out of sorts. I'd have been inclined to go with him. I mean, Christian Dailly should have been sent off before half time, and how he didn't notice Hardie intentionally stamping Burke's knee (although no complaints from me) is beyond me. I also find it hilarious that Burke is leaving just before the fixture in which he got the injury taht wrecked his first-team selection hopes at Rangers. Methinks he's dodging a certain Rustybitz! Now it's up to us to outsell (and outsing) them again. The atmosphere at Hampden was electric, I could even pick it 'up through the Telly! I am in desperate need of a football fix and frankly by Tuesday I'm likely to be foaming at the mooth..I was looking through my programme collection earlier ( I know, sad git ) and noticed on one from 1971, which is the oldest one I have, that we played Dundee Utd on the 1st of January and then Aberdeen on the 2nd ( that's the game the programmes from). Two games in two days. How good is that. Players these days don't know how good they have it.The results from four games in December make interesting reading. Clyde (A) lost 3-0.**** (H) we won Yesssssssss 2-1.Morton(A) we lost 3-1 and Hearts at Muirton we won 2-1. I hope that **** result is a sign:wink: Team that day was..Donaldson, Lambie, Argue, Rooney, Gordon, Rennie, Aird, Hall, Connolly, McPhee, Aitken. The Dons side included the youngest captain in scottish football, 21 year old Martin Buchan, also on show were Joe Harper Scotlands top scorer at that point with 23 goals to his credit and in goals Bobby Clark. I don't suppose anyone knows how it turned out??? Aberdeen were top of the league with 32 points from 18 matches ( two points only for a win some going) and they had not conceded a goal since they beat The Midden 3-1 on 24th October. Sellik were a point behind with the **** in 3rd. Saints were in 4th with 22 points out of a possible 36, a point ahead of Scumdee. It also says that saints invested the considerable amount of £200 in an ultrasonic deep heat machine. Cutting edge technology.... The programme cost sixpence and among the advertisers were Murrays the Baker, Helene ( specialists in teenage wear so it says) The St. Albans Hotel Dundee road, Frenz the Butchers ( I remember them), Ward Brothers Bookmakers, Ace Taxis, McIntyres Bakery, The Central Billiard Room 18 North Methven Street, John Bennie Drapers and The South Sea Carry out at 40 North Methven Street ( still there) . dave mc Posted January 9, 2009 Report Share Posted January 9, 2009 If it was away we could have lost 4-2 i think,i was at Pittodrie in early 70's on a Barossa St bus,well remember my dad overtaking 7 cars on the baiglie straight 'cause we were late!If it was at Muirton and the same day as the Ibrox disaster then we lost 1-0,Jim Forrest scoring the only goal in the second half.21,000 at it if it was this game!!Some riot at half time between the choirs! Finners Posted January 10, 2009 Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 Although there are reasons not to be overly bothered by this fixture, recession, rubbish weather, cold, no league games etc etc, with a few weeks without a game though im sure everyone will be up for this when tuesday comes around. Lets just look at this game as an opportunity to get ANOTHER one over one of the Old Firm (not wether it affects our league campaign). Look at all our performances and results vs SPL sides - great record. Rangers have had so much off the ball distractions, whereas Del and docs preperation is brilliant and they will know how to best get at them. Surely if folk have vouchers and have had vouchers for some time now why should we need to open the Office on a Saturday, costing staff wages of probably about £100 or so on the off chance that we would sell some tickets that folk have had several weeks to buy and can get by phone or by post as well as in person. It's not like we are trying to capture a passing trade. As for earlier posts about rangers I reckon you will find that although having sold all their tickets there will be a number of empty spaces in there stands, so lets not get carried away with there so called 4500 fans.
