Gussie
On a separate, but close location...what happened to the Labour Exchange? I remember having some interesting conversations with those on the "official" side of the counter in a brief stage of my life during the mid 80s... Abernethy Saint
I used to work for the (now) DWP HQ way back, used to do inspections of exchanges - we called them broos- around Scotland. The Perth one was legendary for its uselessness, and there was stiff competition!
south inch
On a separate, but close location...what happened to the Labour Exchange? I remember having some interesting conversations with those on the "official" side of the counter in a brief stage of my life during the mid 80s... The Labour Exchange had the distinction of being one of the few government buildings which began active life during the short reign of Edward VIII and had a plaque on the wall to prove it. Must check if it is still there next time I have time to spare.
Fair Maid
Pictures of the refurbishment floating about on APB, Facebook. Takes me back - those long corridors and imposing stairwells.
