    Car Park Scam

Just to let you know of the scam going on in the supermarket car parks in Perth. While packing your car with shopping, two Eastern European looking girls come over and start cleaning your wind screen and offering to help with your shopping, when you offer them a tip they refuse and ask for a lift somewere, while in the car they strip completely naked and after pulling over to throw them out one climbs in the front sits on your lap and starts thrusting herself on you and touching you up while her pal steals your wallet. I've had my wallet stolen 3 times this week so far...

  2. Completely agree (obviously except for the bit about Saint Walter the Lovely, who is clearly everybody's favourite uncle and has never even so much as said a sweary word). I'd suggest we all make the absolute most of this period without them, because when/if they return to the top flight, they'll instantly ruin everything again. It'll be back to Rangers v Celtic this, Celtic v Rangers that. Those matches represent everything that stinks about Scottish football and Scotland in general. I've never watched one in my life, and I never will. In a weird way the preservation of the rubbish SPL suddenly seems like a good idea, if only because Charles Green has promised that TFOD will never be a part of it. Will be very interesting to see what happens a few years down the line if they're at the top of the First Division and reconstruction still hasn't happened. Surely clubs can't be allowed to just pick and choose whether they want to accept promotion? Unfortunately, of course, there's not a helluva lot we can do about any of this as fans, but one thing we can all do is never forget what they've done, and never forget that they are not who they say they are, and never allow them to simply pretend that none of this happened. This is now a part of their (very short) history forever. Incidentally, I know a lot of people will maintain that there are lots of nice, normal, sane-minded "Rangers" fans out there, but after all that's happened I really have to seriously question the ethics of any person who would continue to think it's a club they'd want to support. If Saints and Saints fans behaved the way Sevco and their fans do, I'd have washed my hands of the club quite some time ago. Fortunately, we all know Saints will never behave in this way. And that's why we're better than them - always have been, always will be.

We're part of a wider trend, the issue isn't the number of people attending games - it's where they are attending. Scotland's active football support is high in relation to peers but is massively skewed by perceived social/religious/political allegiances to the big two. The weighting of punters is completely unsustainable when we punch above our weight for attendance per capita. We're ****ed, for want of a better expression, by the national obsession of the Old Firm. It's going to come to a head.

  4. Rangers get what Rangers want. The only major exception has been due to the outcry of supporters earlier this year, without which the SPL would have put the newco straight back in. Because of this, the orks are even more vile, bitter and twisted because they didn't get their own way. Rangers are the root cause of corruption in Scottish football. The Scottish press will not properly investigate any scandal associated with them, the media in general will only be happy when they are back in the top flight. The authorities will not take sufficient action against those that send threats to those who adjudicate against them. The stewards will do little against them, but at the same time take tough action against other supporters. Match officials are intimidated, and being only human (yes really, referees are human) they will inevitably give decisions Rangers way on occassions. Alex Salmod and other politicians are deafening with their silence since Salmond spoke in favour of Rangers when all this kicked off in the spring. Chucky Green can get away with spouting bilge when other chairmen would get hammered. And if anybody dared to criticise the almighty untouchable Walter Smith in public, they might as well string themselves up in George Square and be damned forever more. Montrose technically told the truth, but no one in the Scottish media would dare defend them. This underlying crap is endemic in the soul of Scottish football, and putting them in Div 3 will not cure the disease. Discuss.

  5. I've had this feeling, ever since I was aware of St Johnstone (from about the age of 5), that one day I'd see us win a major trophy. Just some gut feeling inside of me I can't really explain, I just get the feeling that's it will happen. Every year we seem to be improving. I mean we've steadily rose from the First Division into the SPL, and now we're steadily establishing ourselves as hard team to play in the league. I've no doubt the next step will see us turn into a top 6 club nobody likes playing (like Dundee United). And then who knows? With this I'm hoping we can a major trophy, Scottish Cup or League Cup I'm not really bothered. Something would be nice though and I feel the players we're starting to attract we should be capable of such a feat.. Am I daft or does anyone else share the feeling we're the up and coming team in Scotland

  6. I manage a non-league football team in Surrey. Horley Town play in the Combined Counties Premier League. We have been drawn to play AFC Wimbledon at their ground (The Fans Staduim in Kingston). The date has not yet been confirmed but is due to be played midweek (probably 7.45 ko) between 9th & 16th January. This is an opportunity for Wappers in the Kingston (or London) vicinity with Perth or St. Johnstone connections to come meet up, watch a game and have a beer. I know MySpazz does the gate at Wimbledon and i know that Babychunder (Tommo) and Henryhallsdanceband live fairly close. if any other Wappers live in the area it would be good to see you there. I will confirm the date and time for anyone interested when it has been agreed. Be good to put a face to Wapper names, (except yours Tommo!!!). Ali

  7. Just a quick note to say that we enjoyed our first meeting of the Highland Saints on Monday evening. Of the 20 people who have registered interest, 10 came along with most of the others contacting me to say cannot attend but will come to next meeting. There was one who was so excited turned up a week early!!!. Its all looking really good. I thought the 10 of us got on so well and were all a great bunch of guys united by their love of all things St.Johnstone. We decided to hold a more formal gathering after the holiday period to constitute the club properly. I will be emailing everyone with a bit more detail of the discussions in due course. The date of the next meeting is Monday 21st January at 7.30 PM , Inshes Gate. It was great meeting you all!

  8. Ali, let me know when the date is firmed up. I'll see you there, travel schedule permitting. Let me ding a few other "economic refugees" who live round here too. Are ye up in Perth at New Year?

  9. Absolutely Jimmy. I've got a petty hatred for numerous Scottish footballing figures from over the years. This hatred has been developed without even meeting any of them and can be for the smallest thing. Pink will tell you that the very sight of Alex Smith makes me go bonkers. This is perfectly healthy in my view.

  11. Would like to see a winning mentality from warm up to final whistle - work as a team that we all know is capable of winning and NO slack passing.

  12. what's that got to do with anything? Can't you have a petty hatred of someone nowadays, without someone like you coming along and spoiling it by pointing out some supposed redeeming feature? The guys a parasitic knob-end!

We've started going occasionally this year - 4 games to date. Somewhat to my surprise, the Beloved turns out to love footy, even though that appears to have more to do with Tade's arse than anything else. I suppose we could be classed as potential season-ticket buyers, or at least more regular attenders. Given that the footy isn't at all bad at the moment (despite, in those games, a record of 1 win, 1 draw, 2 defeats, GD 4 - 9!!!!), there are two things holding us back. 1. It's too feckin cold. I know summer footy is a debate for another day, but it's just tooo feckin cold! 2. The money. The entrance fee is a joke for football at this level. But that's just the start of it - the food and drink prices - £1,90 for a spotty teenager on minimum wage and minimal grasp of English to put a crap tea bag in a cardboard cup which they don't even have to collect or wash? £5 to park in an usecured car park for a couple of hours? Everything is at premium prices. Not only does this make it more unaffordable, but it leaves you with the feeling that you're being exploited, rather than rewarded, for supporting the team. If it was the best footy, cup of tea, car park available, fair do's, but it's not. The old macho thing about footy being a man's game, it's supposed to be cold, the boril is suposed to be shite, the stewards are supposed to be ba stards etc was fine - christ, I froze me balls off watching Highland League footy for years. But, even allowing for inflation of course, it;s vastly more expensive now - over £60 a visit for us, including petrol. A week after one of our games, we went out for a decent meal with drinks, and to the theatre. In total, this was only about £30 more than the footy. We got fed proper grub, and got two hours of entertainment in the warm. At no point did any of the actors get sent off, none of them missed their lines from 6 yards out, and when we stood up to applaud at the end, no beardy c unt threw us out. I'm not saying that a footy experience can or should ever be like a meal/theatre experience - they are different things, which you go to for different reasons. What I'm saying is that a pretty basic form of entertainment - 22 chunts kicking a ball round a field - with no frills and terrible service standards on occasion should not be priced at anything like the same level as a meal out/theatre visit. Or if that's too snobby for you, replace "meal/theatre" with "weeks shopping" or "xmas pressie for the bairn" - it's the same argument. A reasonable price for us to watch Saints regularly, with a pie and a cuppa, would be about £15 each. Even at £20, we might go more often. But we cannot and won't pay semi-posh night out prices to watch a footy game other than occasionaly, sorry. And I just can't imagine that;s an unusual view.

The next time this sort of thing happens everyone in the vacinity should use their mobiles to take video evidence of whats going on. If innocent people are being given grief and thrown out then this will add a bit of credibity to their case against the stewarding and will remove their word against yours problem.

The two PWC reports since we returned to SPL (09/10 and 10/11) have had our turnover at £4 million. Selected figures from The Championship in England from 2010/11: Leeds United - £33 million Reading - £23 million Ipswich - £17 million Bristol City - £12 million Watford - £11 million Although the thread is about crowds, it has strayed into finances and it's actually maybe not all that doom and gloom. PWC have for years now recommended clubs spend no more than 60% of their turnover on wages. That would be £2.4 million for Saints, which would still be more than Inverness, St Mirren, Ross County and Dundee I'd imagine. The £300,000 we'd save on wages would plug both the losses we've made since returning to the SPL, although I can't remember what last season's was? Anyone? Simplistic maybe but the club are still in a position to benefit from years of prudence. Without banging the youth drum, the squad could be a good few lighter if we produced our own players, who you then have the added bonus of hopefully being able to sell on for a fee somewhere down the line.

  17. While I agree that it would be great if prices were reduced, I canne really get my head round this value for money thing. I support Saints. I dinnae go to watch them thinking the same way I do when I am buying a suit or a holiday. For me as a saints fan and a football fan, value for money has NOTHING to do with my attendance. I can fully understand that some people are being priced out of going to football because finances are very stretched but if you are looking for VFM , you would be perhaps be best served going shopping rather than going to a football match. If we set VFM as a criteria for being a football fan, nobody would go. Especially if your team was shite. But for true football fans, that does not come into it. Would not matter if Saints were shite and were losing every game. I would still be there. Football is too expensive but spare me the VFM rubbish. You are either a fan or your not. If you are but cannot afford to go then I have plenty of sympathy for you. There are a few very good reasons which prevent people supporting their team. Value for money though. That's phucking nonsense..

  18. Dark bad days ? Most of the time i have supported saints we have been in the leagues which you describe as dark bad days . Sure its nice to be in the top six and europe but it was just as enjoyable for me going to away days in the old second division when we were part time. Why ? Because i was following my team . I would much rather we had a team to follow , than be in the situation of hearts and dunfermline who chased the dream of staying in the top division when it wasn't financially viable . Saints are very close to being up the creek without a paddle (2-3 years i was told by a director) . There is going to be big changes soon because we ARE living beyond our means and it cannot go on . That may be negative and i am not wishing we were down the leagues but i am a realist and as long as there is a St Johnstone , i will (and have raised my kids to ) follow saints whichever division they are in.

  19. McD, do you know something that no-one else does? Saints & Lomas are punching way above their weight, especially impressive when you consider ICT & Ross County are enjoying their best teams ever, Aberdeen, Motherwell and and Killie are the best they've been for a decade, Hibs have exceeded all expectations and United are just effin brilliant, yet Saints are more than holding their own, and as a bpnus NO-ONE EVER MENTIONS THE POPE OR THE QUEEN...........I'm loving this season! Are you going next week?

  20. Well done for playing this song today. Always remember it as a great day out in Glasgow with the rest of the Saints fans. Got the Saintees Special train that day. Some fans didn't get the chance to make that day a memory. I have a lot of friends from Liverpool, some who were directly affected, so, if you have some spare change, help it up the charts please. 21. Its the circle of football for a saints fan . We are not a big enough club , with big enough fan base to always compete with celtic , aberdeen etc . We will be back in lower divisions and maybe part time sooner or later . Enjoy it while we are a top spl team , making it into europe etc because with crowds below 3000 we cannot sustain the position we are in .

  22. Said it before £10 for adults £5 for kids is the most we should be paying . We will end up part time sooner or later . Saints are losing loads of money and this will be the only outcome eventually . Cut cloth and downsize to other clubs our size like partick , airdrie and ayr .

Spoke to one of the directors tonight about it, they are not happy with G4S stance with the fans they tried to sack them but were unable, they are aware of the situation and will be approaching them with their concerns very soon.
