    Lomas Tenure Up?

With us already failing to win in 11 competitive games, 9 in the league, now an Aberdeen goal against a 4-5-1 at home, how long is his spell going to last? Good luck or bad luck, it could be 12 without a win and 10 in the league. That is sacking material in any clubs thoughts. Hope I'm wrong come 4:50pm but I can't see any improvements.

  8. .... and more importantly how do we get them back? 2100 last night was a shocker. Ok, weather wasn't great, it was on telly, it was a school night etc etc, but the trend is continuing downwards. Surely we can't sustain full-time football on the shite crowds we are getting. Would you accept a part-time set up at Saints? Would you be happy in the second tier (or worse)? We are 5th in the SPL, with some very good players. Why is there such a malaise? Will the current proposals re 12-12-18 and a single league body solve all our problems? What's to be done? Discuss.

  9. Anyone going? I'm off work so might go, but it will depend on whether it is freezing or not (I'm getting old). Should be a good game, hopefully we will get something from it unlike last time there. Game is on tv for those that can't go, but I cannae mind if its Sky or ESPN. C O Y S

  11. very well played saints midfield the best forwards always a threat defence good enough attacked most balls, lost it a bit for the shoplifter to score notice the lomas doubters not out in force murray davidson best player on the park by a long way looking forward to dingwall as long as slf is not sitting beside me again

  12. Would still say Muzz was man of the match for me. Vine took his goals really well, but Murray fought for every ball for 95 minutes. Immense performance. Hope Strachan was watching.

What impressed me most about tonight was that I lost count of the number of times we closed down and harassed the Hibs players and stole the ball from them in the middle of the park. All the other positives have been posted already....Muzz was superb, Wright immense, Cregg done exactly what I have been saying he is capable of, with a great goal thrown in. He has a brilliant ability to read the break of the ball, making sure he is there for that crucual clearance or tackle. Without wanting to labout the point (which I will now proceed to do), Nigel on was the wrong change for me for a couple of reasons. At 3-0 you want to just firm up and give them nothing.....Nige doesn't track back....period. Also, why not put Caddis on....a perfect situation to give him an opportunity to show what he has got as well as making him feel part of the team after being loaned out.....a real trick missed by Lomas imo That aside....I couldn't be happier. Not even getting home to find my washing machine had went on fire has dampened my joy

  16. We kept the ball on the deck and showed that we can beat any team in this league. No more hoof ball. We are better than that. If Lomas gets the team performing like this consistently, there is no reason for me not to begin to admire our manager's efforts. Well done to Lomas and the players.

  34. Live on tv! Saints win takes them above Hibs into European places! Saints have the second best defensive record in the league behind Celtic! We have only lost two of our last nine away games! Hibs have only won one of their last nine league games! Hibs have not managed to score more than one goal during 90mins in their last 8 fixtures! ......Guaranteed Hibs win then

  36. Arrogant utter pish to boot. Some people earned the right, in the 60's 70's 80's etc. not to have to feel guilty about not turning up to every match. You could say they did their stint of turning up nearly every Saturday home or away, during those era's. As one of those, I object to people coming on here and complaining, or moaning for the sake of it, about people when they DO try to turn up, even if it is only on the odd occasion. Are these possibly the same ones complaining about poor and diminishing crowds at McDiarmid? You've only got to look at the opportunies that now exist to find something else to do on a Saturday. Too many blank Saturdays. International breaks, winter break (during the best weeks of the winter), Saturday matches played mid week due to cup competitions that we're no longer involved in, matches changed to Fridays or Mondays for TV - endless reasons why people get out of the routine of following Saints. If folk sample say the Junior league/cup matches and find that they enjoy them they could well change their allegence and simply move away from professional football alltogether. At least that way they will probably be able to find a match in Perth on a Saturday. C'mon we don't need this glory hunter type stuff. Incidentally why do Saints not have a student gate, maybe this would increase the attendances slightly.

Still 5th after todays results and (with the exception of Celtic) none of the teams above us won today, its fair to say today was very kind to Saints, heres hoping we take advantage on Monday night.

yes as you infer we must be doing something right. pity there are so many doom and gloom merchants on here . Get behind your team and let us NEVER hear boos at the end of a match, home or away, no matter how despondent / disappointed you may feel. C. O. Y. S.

  43. AS Delia was once heard to cry, " Right then, lets be 'aving you" First home SPL game of the season against the Dons, who so far in two games have fired a blank.. Looks like they will bring a good support and I am obviously hoping given our promoting of the game, that we bring a big support. That's for the other thread though.. Team wise I suspect Beattie will get a start ( lets hope he does not make it a hat-trick of red cards for the centre forward:shock:) Team wise I would pretty much go with the same starting 11 as the Well game but with Beattie replacing the suspended Vine. We need to start this one like we have started the 2nd halves in the first two games.. Lets get right behind the guys from the get go and lets cheer them on to three points.. COYS...

  45. Match day, whooooopieeeee. Hopeful we can take something from this game but to do so we will have to start the game like we started the 2nd half at Hearts otherwise we will get nothing. I hope if Millar is playing ( which I think he will be) that Lomas plays the lad in his best position which is in the middle. Nige and Craig out wide with Muzz central as well. Vine and Higgins up top. At the back I am desperate for the return of Ando in place of Crackers, who defends well enough but can pass to on of our own going forward. All that said, I suspect it will be Mannus MacKay, Wright, Crackers, Davidson. Millar, Cregg, Muzz, Craig. Hasslebaink, Vine. I hope I am wrong.. Just heading down to the Saints club soon. Still TWO seats left on the bus for any last minute travellers. Nice day for it. You can phone the club on (01738) 628391 if yer interested. COYS:D
