  2. Several people have suggested I influence Channel 4 as a sponsor. Our business plan is predicated on premium advertising and trying where possible to avoid down-market C2DE men. When I pitched the concept they asked to see photos of Slf, Ghostie, Aitchy and Dr Christmas Jones. I left the room as the board discussed it and i heard them laughing. Never heard back.

Following Jean-Marc Bosman's success at bringing about the re-writing of the football transfer rules, we now refer to an out of contract transfer as a "Bosman". I wonder if, in years to come, when some little jug eared scrotum fails to honour a PCA he'll be referred to as a "Bawsack"?

To be honest, I don't have a problem with Brittain himself. He's just thought he's made a mistake and has privately tried to get out of it (rightly or wrongly). He hasn't been spouting shit in the press and has kept his own counsel. Its County that have dragged this into the public domain and can't seem to keep quiet regarding a player that isn't really anything to do with them.

  10. If we don't get any money (assuming RB stays at RC) then the whole PCA situation is fecked. The only way a player should get out of a PCA is to retire or die. If a club was to try and back out of a PCA then they would surely have to pay compensation to the player, unless the player failed a medical.

Send him back to his Dingwall croft and he can enjoy an improved contract for a year. Once they get relegated he will have to be released and will end up at Peterhead.

I think Saints should release a statement with all the dingles lies and pull out of the mess. Walk away with the dignity. They had him last year and we finished above them. We will finish above them next season even if he stays.

Purely for the way he has pissed us about and for his general conduct through this whole debacle, we should do everything we can to hold onto him, then let him rot on the bench, or even better in the stand. If we are winning 3-0 with 5mins to go in a game, we should bring him on, then sub him again two minutes later after we have all had a chance to hurl abuse at him....great sport

  26. I think Saints have already been much nicer about this than many other clubs would have been, and again the club has shown that it conducts itself with a great deal of integrity. In this case people have actually gone out of their way to try to be reasonable and get round a table to find a compromise. But at this point I tend to think Saints have made all the moves they need to. They've tried to have discussions with Ross County about it, which they weren't actually obliged to do. Surely there's no other step required? We signed the player, fairly and squarely. He's ours once the date of his contract kicks in, and he should be expected to turn up for work. If he doesn't turn up, he gets disciplined and fined. If he doesn't want to play for Saints, he should hand in a transfer request. If Ross County (or any other club) want him, they should make a bid. What else is left for Saints to discuss?

  29. ==== I expect we will end up with nothing, with the biased media making us out to be the bad guys. I would be worried if I were Steve Brown, as his admirable approach of keeping private business within the walls of MacDiarmid Park may well be about to bite him on the arse. It's difficult to compete passively with an aggressor using the media like RC are doing. It's pretty much the lowest form of bullying, and I personally find the way they are behaving pretty despicable.

  30. Sarcasm and borderline non-PC humour does not work in typed form. I think that's the problem with all forums. I don't use any other forums except this one now, because the offence takers have ruined every other one I have been a member of. I love my football club too much not to hang around here though, especially considering that I live away from Perth.

If County do/have register the player then the SFA should come down on them like a ton of bricks. They have no right to register a player that has already signed a pre-contract. If they are allowed to do it, then we should register every player that goes out of contract with their club to prove what a farce it is.

If County have indeed registered him then it puts to bed any talk of this just being between Saints and Brittain i.e. Ross County were clearly trying their best to convince him to stay when it was clear they were going to be in the top six and could offer him wages similar to ours. I am confused as to how County can register him without him signing a contract with them, surely a club can't just go and register a free agent and them subsequently offer him a contract. This is what has bugged me about this whole situation, Brittain seems to have only asked Saints to cancel his contract but there was always the assumption that this was because he wanted to stay at Ross County....but how could he be sure they would be offering a contract when they hadn't done so as late as January this year? Unless of course there was a cheeky wee discussion on the team bus about how much Saints were going to be paying him and how County could now, after securing top 6, afford either equal what he had agreed with us or better it. In any case I think this whole mess is going to be watched by quite a few clubs, players and agents in the UK.

  41. I know feck all about this deal and happily leave it in the hands of our Chairman Stevie Brown to sort one way or another - Pretty sure IF Roy McGregor at Ross County thought for a moment HE and his club were in the right then they would not be asking Saints to rip up the agreement NOR would Roy Mcgregor travel down to have a face to face with Mr Brown in Perth. IF Richie Brittain doesnt want to play for St.Johnstone and IF he has openly admitted it THEN to be honest I dont want him at Saints FULL STOP. Lets get someone else in who does want to play for us.

I spoke to Liam Craig at the POTY and he couldn't see what the arguement was about. He said he had a copy of his contract for Hibs that he signed in January, even the Hibs chairman had signed it. Said it is a contract, plain and simple. From that I can only see either Brittain being our player OR his contract being bought out

I still think RC are heavily complicit here. RB and DA can say what they like but nobody in their right mind would want to break a contractual agreement giving them security for two years unless they know there is an equally secure (or better) alternative. (I considered the "right mind" point in relation to RB and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.) So not only should we insist on decent compensation - £100k at least - we should ensure that our agreement to cancelling the PCA has some sort of safeguard in it to protect us against an "unexpected" offer suddenly appearing from Ibrox or elsewhere. Mind you I am not holding my breath and god help us if we have to depend on the SFA or SPL to do the decent thing!
    1 point
  44. I would speculate that if RB was to be released from the contract, and has backing from the PFA, then Saints would say £x and Ross Country would say £y, and an independent adjudication of £z would potentially be sought to sort it out. Could that be where the SFA and SPL come in? I would like to think that Saints would say £x and refuse to negotiate. We would appear to be firmly in the driving seat in such a discussion.

  49. Just seen it on Sky Sports News, SFL clubs looking likely to vote against the newest half arsed attempt at a solution to League Reconstruction. First Division clubs met alone after an SFL meeting and are now looking at breaking away to join the SPL instead. the saga continues then........ Anyone else think the SFA should just step in and say this is what's happening no votes, no club involvement & just put the interests of Scottish football over the interests of individual clubs.
