Are you for real? The "lads from Peterborough" were a load of ignorant, racist bigots. Their club is run by a classless spiv who continually slagged off our club on Twitter!! We've had 2 posters on here from Rotherham. One (Miller2) is admittedly lacking in knowledge of Scottish football but as far as I can see has not been in any way abusive. The other (Millerman) has been courteous, knowledgeable and respectful. And you come out with rubbish like this? Including a wee bit of championing violence. This after you stated on another thread that you wouldn't like to hear your sons singing the "I went out for a pint" song. Unbelievable.

Fwiw I rate Lomas as one of the better managers we ve had at this club. He never once passed me ,my missus or laddie without saying hello or stopping for a conversation. Football is all about opinions and obviously people see and especially hear different things.

Because I watch matches outwith Saints games, and Gauld is tremendous in every match, despite only being 17. And Goodwillie was better, yet never moved to the Premiership, so was Russell who never moved to the Premiership. They way you talk its as if his next move will be to the Premiership. Which simply won't happen unless Wigan get promoted again and take a gamble. Theres also nothing to suggest he won't go down there and falter, its pure speculation that he'll go down there and do well. Join the wrong club and your career is stunted. And I'm not trying to be "trendy" or more sensible. I'm simply being more sensible. He's only been playing in this league 3 months (excluding his pre-loan stint), I think Keigan Parker also had a similar impact in his first few months in the SPL, its far too early to be getting so excited we're tipping him to take the English Premiership by storm I'm not trying to talk him down in any way, I'm trying to calm the hype around him before it gets to him, fan boys like you come along and instantly see the potential and believe he'll one day play for Manchester United and Scotland and earn millions and be a superstar. When in fact a successful career would be at a lower league EPL side and be around the Scotland squad like Steven Fletcher. It takes time either way, and its no help at all building him up to be something he might never be. Fletchers career was helped massively by all the expectation being shoved onto the shoulders of Riordan, O'Connor and Brown. I know which player I'd rather May turned out like

  9. I assume you are digging at me here. I find your comment that he left us financially sound quite astonishing. He spent 18 months greetin' like a bairn that the chairman wouldn't bankroll his preferred signings, the squad was too small etc. when he left, TW was left to butcher the squad, and that is WITHOUT considering the players that Lomas seems to have promised new deals to and then left out in the cold. A weaker chairman above Lomas and he would have happily destroyed us financially and sailed off into the sunset without looking back.

He's rubbish. Totally overrated. Can't beat a man, can't score good goals, isn't direct enough. You'd be much better looking at Rory Fallon who just scored for New Zealand against Mexico. Pass this message on to your board.

  19. I would suggest that ANYONE that has booked on one of the buses for the Semi-Final also turn up and confirm not only their place BUT now that the ticket prices have been set -we would need to find out ALL the ST holders and those needing a ticket for the game ( those booked on one of the buses) as we MAY have to take money upfront IF the Supporters club are having to make a Block booking request on behalf of those who have already booked and do NOT have a Season Ticket.....Certainly worth discussion sooner than later - HOPEFULLY Danno Shek will have more information concerning Saints allocation and entitlements . Looks as if Saints support have the ROSEBURN STAND BUT might be given extra for the NORTH section of the MAIN STAND . So ROLL UP folks .

I'm glad that the negativity has been diverted onto RandomGuy now. RG, can you stop talking as if your opinions are gospel? It's really unsavoury to witness. My own opinion is this (not a fact, but an opinion) - Steve Lomas obviously did a decent job as manager and deserves credit for what he achieved at the club. However, his inital presence seemed to coincide with a lack of discipline both on and off the park as well as negative publicity in the press. At a similar time, we were going through a very poor run of form in the league. He was very lucky to have been manager of a club as well-run as St Johnstone. In most other cases, he would have been kicked out of the door pronto. Thankfully our chairman saw potential and kept him on. It proved to be the correct decision but I must say that, for a large amount of his time in charge, I felt very low about our club. Quite down-heartened really, which some may think is bizarre given our final position in the league. In truth, every team in the league was very close in quality last season and I genuinely believe we were capable of doing even better. Lomas was too stuck in his ways about the 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation, using strikers as wingers. It wasn't a great style of play to witness and I feel our team is better this year. There is a feel-good atmosphere amongst the players and supporters, and a similar positioning is hardly unlikely. Neither is a higher points total. As for Stevie May, he's a very exciting young talent. For me, Sandaza was the more 'complete' player, but I have no doubt that Stevie will soon be better than him if he continues to work as hard as he has.

Poor post. While the other Rotherham fan comes across as a decent guy who genuinely wants some information, you come across as another Englishman who knows nothing about Scottish football, but has decided it's not very good. as for the "competition no-one cares about" - how often have your team played in it? And just watch how little your English clubs care about it this season, now that it carries a Champions league place for the winner. Whether we are a bigger club than any in League One is a matter of conjecture - but we definitely have a better team than most clubs in the division.

  29. I know a lot of Celtic fans that were over there and they've all said it was moich. Polis battering into any c&nt. One of my best mate's wife was outside a pub having a ciggie, oblivious to anything, and got dragged by the hair by the polis and stopped from going back into the pub to get her husband. Even on facebook, when h-u-n-s have been posting footage and gloating about celtic fans rioting, the footage only showed folk singing songs then fans getting an absolute shoeing. There is no doubt that there is a high propensity of arsehole in the Celtic support, even allowing for the percentage (e.g. bigger support = more arseholes), but for innocents to get a doing when going to watch a football match is ridiculous. This, a first eye account by a good friend of mine: We arrived on Monday night, a bit worse for wear after a days travelling, so I'll start this from Tuesday morning. Headed into the City Centre and were hearing stories on the tram of random and also organised attacks on Celtic fans. First stop, Sports Hotel, had some breakfast and so...me great craic with some bhoys from Airidrie. Went to the jaminthedam at night, was OK, but nothing extraordinary! Ended up with a couple of Glasgow bhoys (Paddy and Mick!) in a hostel until about 3:30am Wednesday (Champions League Matchday 4): Into town for lunchtime, sirloin steak for brunch! Dam square was filling up with Celtic fans, so into the local shop who were doing a roaring trade with fellow Hoops in purchasing the many refreshments on offer. Could spot wee groups of Ajax fans 'sussing' things out all afternoon. Celtic fans in great voice, party atmosphere, always someone with a ball, doing the huddle, meeting up with people you know already and making new friends as well. Then it gets dark...as soon as the light started going, you started hearing scuffles, screams, and glass smashing, it got louder and louder and more intense. Then comes the police and ambulance sirens, people starting to panic. A riot van drove straight towards and through Celtic fans in Dam Square, at the same time a 'shower of glass' come from one corner of the square, and it all kicks off. Never seen anything like it. People terrified for their lives, people getting stabbed and slashed. Some Celtic fans reacted by fighting back, and some throwing bottles and glasses. I will never justify that behaviour from any kind of football supporter. This attack was nothing to do with football, please be aware of that. We all got split up and as I had a match ticket, I made my way up to the ground with a friend. Subway 51 was the advice, so we hopped on. Next stop the platform is a sea of red and white, 'here we go' was my initial thought! The Ajax fans who got on were absolutely fantastic, apologising for the behaviour we had received in their city. One guy asked me to swap scarves with him, he even got off the train a stop early to ensure we to the correct turnings to the Celtic end of the stadium. After the game, back to Centrall Station, straight into a taxi and back to the hotel. Walking though that door and seeing my friends sitting waiting for me in reception and the relief on their faces is something I will never forget. Getting messages from loved ones at home, concerned for your safety when your off to watch your team play football, not a nice thing either. To those who are commenting on the violence and seem to be 'enjoying' the coverage, have a look at yourself. People are in hospital, people have been physically scarred for life, some are lucky to be alive. If you haven't been to Amsterdam before, it's worth a visit, just don't go when there's a match on.

On the attendances thing, our average is about 4,000 over the course of a season (that's not including European crowds this year) - Rotherham's is just over 8,000. So they get double the crowds, from almost 3x the population (120,000). Really good going.

Aye he was so shite he got us into Europe twice. Until Wright does comparatively well over a similar period of time and Lomas flops at Millwall (both looking possible), you can't just write off Lomas as another SC. Far too early to make that judgement. What it isn't too early to say is that he is an absolute weapon, who I was ashamed to have in charge of my club. But abilities as a football manager, too early to say.

Seriously, an interesting debate. I obviously can only comment based on things viewed from the outside. There are some good sides and players in the SPL, and the Scottish national team. I was trying to say that the league in England is changing rapidly. No longer are young British players able to spend years developing their game at the top level. Premier League clubs are simply too rich, and the prospect of relegation and losing millions prompts big money imports of international players from all over the World where the game is rapidly advancing. Clubs like Rotherham are benefitting from a single man's desire and vision (and deep pockets), and are upwardly mobile. Given the fact that he has spent many millions already, and has stated his ambition is Championship football sooner rather than later, I think for any young British player would find our club alluring and the ideal 'shop window' to progress their careers to their up most potential. Of course, it is all about money. If the offer is acceptable to the club, and the contract is acceptable to the player himself, I would imagine his loyalty would be tested. There are far worse clubs he could go to, and his continual development could serve him, Saints and us very well in the future.

Rare post. There is NO WAY Stevie May will go to Rotherham for 160k, 200k, 300k or 500k. The idea is ridiculous beyond words. He'll go nowhere in January unless someone bids seven figures. Seriously. I really can't believe people are taking this even remotely seriously. Rotherham? Jesus.
