  2. No, it's that he isn't flamboyant and exciting, so many people assume he is shit. One if our most consistent and solid players in my opinion. He was outstanding at Hibs, and decent in the United game last weekend.

  3. ......to all Highland Saints. 2013 was a great year for us all as a supporters club but 2014 will be better still with some silverware coming our way! Here's hoping for a magic moment worthy of our highly sought after trophy on Saturday. See you all in the Mallard.

  4. No, I agree - when we have the upper hand our CHs work the ball wide and we are far more threatening. When we are pressed higher up the park the pattern of play resorts to the long ball from the CHs - I did try to say it isn't the player's faults individually, but a pattern of play that emerges and doesn't suit the players. I agree wholeheartedly that the issue lies with TW providing an alternative, whether that is a long ball winner up front, or a busier midfield playing deeper to offer a simple out ball for the CHs.

  5. Could be that the problems have coincided with Maclean being injured and he won his share of headers up the park and then it was masked because of Wrights suspensions and Scobbie / Mackay playing @ centre-half and arguably being more composed and less likely to punt it up the park. Now we have Ando / Wright back in defence but there's no one up front to get on the end of the punts.

  6. My heart sank when Fallon came on today. After the Aberdeen game, I'm afraid seeing him on the pitch again sent a very negative message about the team.

  7. Motherwell did start like a train today but we were incredibly slow out of the blocks. That early string of set pieces - including the one from which everyone thought McManus had scored - was scary viewing and I said at that point that this had gubbing written all over it. But we actually settled and in the next 10 minutes were probably on top and were in the situation where we had an attacking free kick in a dangerous area. So up steps Wotherspoon and as has been the case virtually always in the past few matches, he hits a dreadful ball that Twardzik plucks unchallenged and straight away were are in trouble, then 30 seconds later we are a goal down. You could immediately see we were in bother on the right as the free kick taker, Wotherspoon, was out of position and although Scott Brown got across, Motherwell worked it well and it was a brilliant ball and the sort of finish we've seen so many times from Sutton in the past decade. Motherwell undoubtedly had the best chance during the rest of the half when Mannus made a great save from Ainsworth and our goal did seem to lead a bit of a charmed life but we were contributing to the match and creating chances of our own. Probably didn't force Twardzik into a testing enough save to say we deserved a goal but there was still hope for the second half, especially since May's touch seemed to be in and on a couple of occasions he'd showed great skill to get away from his man and get an effort on goal. Although Tommy Wright had lined the side up similar to Sunday and I was happy with that, the way we were pressing was causing us problems. Often one of the central players would push up to help May when Motherwell had the ball deep but all that was doing was either leaving space for a ball short to Carswell or Lasley, or if Brown had moved in to plug a gap, leaving a ball up to Sutton that he was winning most of the day. The number of times a kick from Mannus was returned with a simple header putting us in trouble was concerning. The early goal at the start of the second half was always going to sap us a bit but we kept plugging away for a while, the third killed it stone dead though, although in truth we'd fizzled out when Fallon was introduced. Please no more of him. Please. The second goal wasn't great for Scobbie but with five in midfield, why is nobody helping him? Wright then has to go out to Ainsworth (seeing Angol's goal at Firhill for example of why) but Ainsworth was going at such pace that he was never going to stop him, other than giving away a penalty. Motherwell in truth probably deserved the break in front of goal for Vigurs such was the similar situations they'd had in the first half. The pace and running of Ainsworth obviously catches the eye but nearly always the final ball was the right one and that was huge for Motherwell, who always appear so clinical against us. Hopefully Lee Croft, when he eventually gets fit, can provide that sort of impact for us as for all Edwards tried hard again and I'd be happy to see him stay, he doesn't pick the right pass or option in dangerous areas. Wotherspoon on the other side looks absolutely drained of confidence too and wouldn't be surprised if he misses out on Saturday. Thought the biggest issue in the centre of the park, where we were three against two was them pressing as individuals rather than a team and that made it too easy for Lalsey and Carswell. Scott Brown certainly didn't disgrace himself though and the way he tried to pick forward passes was good to see. Maybe not back to the drawing board regarding playing away but certainly it's not sorted yet and not long to work on something before Saturday.

  11. Our away form is of relegation material but our home form is of Europa league quality. Brilliant one week shite the next. Motherwell are far from a 4-0 humping better than us. Keep our appalling away record up and we will struggle for the top six.

    Lomas Loses.

It was a terrible job to take from the off, especially without your assistant, who I suspect had a big part in the tactics of a game while with us. Lomas, I suspect, will never achieve as good a season as he did with us, at any other club.
