  1. Hey folks. I'm a Dons fan but one with a deep affection for "THE" Saintees. Older and I like to think more mature. Crazy days in the past. I have a real love of Perth having lived in the Fair City in the late 60s & early 70s as a young lad. Always been a Don but was lucky enough to regularly attend dear old Muirton to watch and cheer on Ormond's saints, what a team. Cheered them on in the '69 cup final too, my late father took me to Hampden for the first time that day. I geninely thought that the banter in the pubs last Saturday wi' the Dons & Saints fans was superb and atmospheric. We obviously all have a minority of idiots and nae doubt the bigger games tend to bring 'em oot in greater numbers but I didna see any "real" trouble. I'm obviously pleased to get through but realise it was never a 4-0 in fairness. Thought St Js were in it right up to the third and I reckon lf Lee Croft had scored, it was anybodys game. Keep behind this team and Tommy Stewart, your day will come. Ditch 'a this "pathetic Saints fans" nonsense . Anyone spouting this isna a real Saint. if Saints had won I'd have been gutted but id've got over it in time to go down and cheer you on in the final. Sure I' ll gets some stick, no really bothered. Genuinely all the best lads.

  2. Saints fans are pathetic, When Tommy took over yous all insisted that he was the brains behind Steve Lomas but all because 1 or 2 bad results you's have suddenly turned against him. Still in the top 6 of the league, and still going strong in the Scottish Cup. Went one further in the Europa League than what we done when Lomas was in charge also with Lomas in charge we never reached a Semi-Final in either cup competition and Tommy has done it within 6 months. Where was this level of hate for Del after the 3-0 Semi-Final when he was in charge? If anything the Aberdeen side we faced on Saturday was a much tougher opposition than the Motherwell side we lost to that day.

  3. It should be remembered overall we actually DID NOT play badly against Aberdeen.............. we made some very bad mistakes which Aberdeen punished in other games these might not be. If we play as well on Saturday at Forfar we will win easily. There are no teams in Scotland we cannot beat if we play to our potential ( and I include Celtic Aberdeen Motherwell ICT etc in that statement) yes we will have some absolute howlers like Saturday but overall I am still happy and proud to be a Saintee. 4. Hello folks, I am a person that likes to have a nosy in and see what the opposition are saying on a big occasion. I have read a few posts and thought it would be worth replying to. I would first like to apologize to any supporters that are on here that were affected by tiny minority of idiot drunken dons fans. I personally really enjoyed my time in bar before the game mixing and having great banter with saints fans. Onto the game don't be to upset as I thought Saints played rather well without disturbing our goal too much. It could have been very different had it not been for Langfields save at 1-0. I would like to know why your defender just left the ball rolling along the ground to Hayes and after having watched it many times it just gets better for us and worse for yous. The second goal was just a tad unlucky that your defenders clearance fell straight to Pawlett who you dont want running at you in any game now. Once number 3 went in I noticed the passion had evaporated from saints which was slightly disapointing. No 4 is just no 4. The idiots that ran on the pitch just let your club down and i hope they are publicly flogged. After the game I decided to get the perth train and change for aberdeen to avoid to much standing and found a few saints still grateful that they reached the semi in the first place. All the best for the rest of the season guys

  5. I'm still standing at Tynecastle - our central defence still hasn't shown up. I'm beginning to think they should just forget about the semi-final and go straight to Forfar instead. It's cold here. And I'm hungry.

  8. Del failed at Bristol city, must be a shite manager. Coyle failed at Bolton/Wigan. Shite manager. Great logic. I think you have the wrong end of the stick on your second point, people have been saying Tommy was the brains behind the operation not the other way about. In reality it was lomas team and giving the assistant manager 100 % credit for the results is extremely bizarre and just shows people blinded by the press reports and rumours about Lomas than his actual performance for Saints, which was that of the most successful manager in our history. There will always be morons who can't credit somebody because of their narrow minded opinions on their character. Good for them. This has absolutely nothing to do with Saints-Aberdeen though, and it's coming across as if I'm anti Wright when that is nowhere near the case.

  9. To be honest the wee fanny who threw the seat is just that , a wee fanny . These things happen and he'll get caught out soon enough , was going to say he'll be banned soon anyway but the new perth pack are shitebags who aren't capable of getting banning orders . What annoyed me about Saturday. . . . the vast majority of a fans who were in the Roseburn stand sat like it was a feckin library , telling anyone who dared to stand up to sit down , this and suicide defending .

  13. A bummer that we failed at another semi final but how many other wee clubs with a crowd base of 2500 have reached as many semi finals as Saints.

  14. I'll be there on Saturday to support the team. What's done is done and I personally don't see any point in running through every detail with a fine tooth comb looking for someone to blame. At the end of the day, you win some, you loose some. Slightly of topic but quite looking forward to my first visit to Station park this weekend, should be a good day out and fully intent to get behind the team and have a good sing song.

  15. Piss off, worse away ground in the league. Was standing up having a sing song a couple of years back and the steward told me to sit down, i then pointed to the green brigade and was then told 'this is Celtic park' and they were 'allowed' to do that.. Was absolutely raging. Will not be attending that dump ever again and have a bunch of mutants on day release sitting to the right of me.

  17. Dylan that is very true. I think what we get after every most semi final defeats is a period where everyone is deflated having been built up so much over the lead up to the semi. None of us would have disagreed with the defence that Tommy played on Saturday and most of us were happy with the line up generally. individual errors cost us not Tommy Wright.

  18. Its time for the post mortem to finish. As supporters we cannot continue to blame players we do not like and see our favourites with blue coloured glasses that makes us think they can do no wrong. The group of players and backroom staff are a team and on Saturday we were as a team not up to the job - end of story. They will like us supporters be hurting and it is up to them to use this as motivation and a spur to again gel as a unit whilst us supporters who would not last 2 minutes in a professional game or training session need to give them the support that we can from the terraces.

  19. Couldn't agree more Dylan. Folk still sticking up for Lomas when we have continued to play at a similar level to last season, despite reduced resources and (in my opinion) some improved opposition, and his incredible success at Millwall beggar belief. Tommy Wright isn't the perfect manager, we don't have the perfect football team, but FFS, Barcelona got beat at home by a mid table team at the weekend, Manchester Utd couldn't win against Hyde at the moment, and yet we still turn on TW after a handful of bad results.

  21. Well said. The first shooting free kick chance we had. The ref strode out the ten yards, stood calling the Aberdeen wall back, kept calling them back (looked like 2 yards), Aberdeen never moved, eventually gave up. May shoots and hits the top if the wall. Next free kick same thing happens, wall doesn't move, madden gives up and from then on didn't even attempt to get them back! Basically let Aberdeen stamp their authority on the game.

  22. Come on Edinburgh Saints get your fingers out and get on the bus, don't know what you are missing, a good old fashioned cup tie at a tidy little ground and good old day out on the bus with a wee cerry oot and then some rough arsed boozer in Forfar, certainly beats a day walking round the shops!!!! And I certainly need a pick me up after last weekend and as we all know when you are not too fussed about a saints game, this is when the J's pull off a good performance and renew the enthusiasm. If that doesn't sell it to you nothing will Any ideas for pubs in Forfar Stu, and are we heading straight there or having a wee pit stop on the road

  23. Why would saints get any money in the first place, it's a United home game. Or do people still not understand the TV deal is split equally and the number of times on the screen does not matter?

  35. After the game i walked back by myself into Haymarket surrounded by Aberdeen fans thinking here we go, obviously got a few gobby ones but the majority off it was good banter and had a good laugh with some, later on was in the Abbotsford in rose street and couple off guys went out off there way to come and speak to myself saying that Saints were unlucky and just wasnt there day, so hey ho good and bad in every support

  36. When we have gone behind in other semi finals we have gotten behind the team and cheered them on. Even against Motherwell we started making more noise until the second one. That never happened at all on Saturday.

  39. I don't think anyone has mentioned the blatant cheating of Aberdeen. Some would say it was very clever, others cynical. Breaking up play with silly fouls, shirt pulls and over the top attempts at headers with no reasonable chance of getting the ball. We just seem to take it when Muzz or Cregg aint playing.

  43. It was heartbreaking listening to it on the radio never mind spending money to be there. I can only imagine how the fans felt at the game. I know its easy for me to say being so far away from Perth but I guess we have all picked or were born into supporting a team that will provide us with this gutted emotion again and again and again. However, the little golden nuggets like a top four finish, beating Rosenborg, Stevie May's hair and Aggie chucking household items at Graham Souness in '91 is what keeps me going. Ultimately I would never ever turn my back on Saints, no matter how bad we got. There are enough people in the media quite happy to brush us under the carpet. We don't need our fans to do it as well. The biggest thing I am upset at is hearing of the performance of some of the "support". I am trying my best to bring up my English born daughter (who is only 20 months old) as a Scotland and Saints fan. At 3 months she was at her first Saints game.....why the hell would I want to take her to another game with the prospect of her coming into contact - in the confined space of a stadium - with bell ends that.... fight fellow saints fans and needlessly vandalise? Having time to reflect upon the game, they are the people that I feel have disgraced the club...not the players. Come on saints......

Had a wander through the Fair city today and so far there are NO shops /premises that have "Good luck Saints" or similar in the windows -NO blue and White Pies/Cupcakes etc etc. Go North into the heart of the Shinty world "Newtonmore OR Kingussie" and the whole town(s) have something in their windows or elsewhere on their buildings to wish their clube well in the Semi or actual Final. Surely St.Johnstone FC deserve something from the City or surrounding areas to wish the club well OR is the Football club so despised in the City of Perth ?
