  1. I would much rather have Clark playing games than warming the bench for a season. I think Banks is exactly what you need for a reserve keeper. Experienced, seems to be a good goalie coach and understands that he's second choice. If Clark performs well enough, he'll get his chance when Mannus leaves.

  2. I know most on here are dubious about Goodwillie but we've had many with a chequered past at Saints. No doubt he's a bad'un but everyone deserves a chance to turn their lives around. If he comes to Saints and knuckles down he'll do well. The thought of MacLean, May, Goodwillie, Croft, Wotherspoon and O'halloran makes me pretty damn excited about next season. We'd be a match for anyone. Throw in a fit Murray Davidson and a couple of signings and who wouldn't want to watch saints? There would be 3 potential Scotland players in that Squad, 2 already with full caps.

  3. Squad training at Stirling University today. All looking fit and raring to go, amongst them a few trialists including David Goodwillie.

    Tommy Wright

I was under the impression that TW was the man the players would listen too before Lomas, plus Tommy was a lot more influential in the dressing room and at training. Problem was that Lomas as manager always got the final decisions,i think he actually shrugged of too much of Tommys advice. Obvious to say Lomas is more of a lost sheep without Tommy, his loss was our gain

    My Trip To Luzern

Last summer i was in Luzern for a day and went to see them play Borussia Dortmund in a pre season friendly, never for one minute thought i would be back a year later watching Saints there. I've uploaded some photos of the city, the stadium and the match to give you an idea of what to expect. https://www.flickr.com/photos/125681356@N07/sets/72157645015268618/ Can't wait to go back.

  7. Abernathy, if we vote YES, I'm going to propose you as Chancellor instead of that prat Swinney. You obviously have a good grasp of economics. Don't hand your notice in yet though.

  8. Looks like Zander Clark is returning to QOS on loan for next season. Big mistake allowing Banks to be our reserve goalkeeper again for next season, nowhere near good enough for Premiership level.

  9. Ha ha he may very well do so but that was not who I was referring to. Oh and unless he gets called David Goodwillie and his nickname is Goodie then I can assure you it was not him.

  10. I agree Dunne was not an outstanding player but what he was, was a strong defensive midfielder, full of energy and hard in the tackle. It is these attributes that we have to replace and I do not see a replacement with these qualities mentioned not even in TW interview; he wants a left midfielder and an attacking midfielder who can work box to box. Maybe he has a new formation in mind which requires only one defensive midfielder and four strikers ( )

  20. You can still attend the offices, but there's lots less of them now - they closed most of the regional ones . Surely Glasgow will still be open though - mebbee check on-line.

  27. Personally I think Dunne, Cregg and Hasselbaink will all be difficult to replace and all three would have been involved in our European ties if they'd stayed. Craig and Goodwillie would bring us pretty close to being back to last season's level though - particularly as Craig can play wide left, central midfield or left-back. If Scott Brown hits the ground running then I guess TW's looking upon him as filling the central midfield gap that's been highlighted. Personally I think we could still do with a solid, experienced defensive midfielder with good distribution - ideally someone who can also do a job in central defence. That's obviously not an easy area to recruit for though.

  30. Equally good chance that Mannus will not get injured and play every game though, I'm which case Clark would be gaining nothing. A measured gamble in my opinion.

  32. Some facts from alexa.com evaluation of the St.Johnstone website. Bounce rate is used as a key indicator of the interest your site has, this shows the % of people that leave immediately after arriving at the home page. I guess as the lotto results are on the home page, no reason for folk to delve deeper. Ill be watching our global rankings keenly, as we all know that rising website popularity is a key indicator of season ticket sales. We should also throw up an Ad up for Johnstone Supply as that could be a money earner for us. Finally, "Vorsprung durch Technik" for the saints web hosting strategy. As is the directive, I thought the club weren't doing the season tickets right, so I made my own. Do you think that will be ok? I used double sided sticky tape and stuff, so it looks braw.

I still have mixed views of Lomas. On the plus side: the team did very well, he created a good side, he bought in TW, he showed enthusiasm and support for his players. On the negative side: His public support of Rangers during their downfall stank and p!ssed off many Saiints supporters, his attitude to playing in Europe stank before the Turkey trip, his public statements about budgets stank, his continuing comments about over-achieving and talking down the teams potential stank, and none of us were left in any doubt that his first priority was Steve Lomas and moving back south. He just didn't get the way that the club works or understand those who supported the club. He didn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Moving to Millwall just showed that he leaned nothing about understanding supporters. There was no way that an ex-West Ham man would win over that bunch. TW is enthusiastic about Europe, knows no limits on what can be achieved, knows how the club works and embraces it, keeps supporters on his side, puts the club first, doesn't drool over Sevco, and his team does even better. Steve Lomas - Watch and learn.
