I think the difference is Dow agreed a contract to sign for St Johnstone in January. His club blocked it. His club are now no longer blocking it so he's free to sign but he's now messing around hoping for hibs. When hiring I've seen people do this quite often, come for a job then when offered start messing around as they may have something in the pipeline they'd prefer. First hint of that I'd always pull the plug. If you're a second choice you're not going to get full commitment. Walk away Saints.5 points -
I don't think Dow is doing anything wrong holding off, but why should he expect us not to move onto another target? 2 years ago, he'd have been worth waiting for. He's hardly kicked a ball this season and wasn't great last season, post Armstrong/GMS, either. Alston is a completely different kettle of fish IMO - his season is still going and he's been offered a deal by his club. He's also been excellent for his club and touted as player of the year by many, none of this applies to Dow. The reason Dow is holding off is he's hoping Hibs (who have expressed an interest) will get promoted so he can join them. He's a decent player and I'm glad Tommy has offered him a deal, but if we're not top of his priority list, we should start talking to the next target on our list. If nothing's agreed by the time Dow decides he does want to come to us, then great. If not, we sign the next guy.5 points

Two to go. Last home game and a point would cement our back to back fourth place. I don't want a point though. It's about time we beat this manky mob again. Lets hope they go for it. Celtic are no great shakes this term.. Team wise . I'd keep it as close to the well game as possible. There's nothing to lose for this game so lets be positive. COYS.3 points -

My husband and I were dressed and ready to go out for a lovely evening of dinner and theatre. Having been burgled in the past, we turned on a 'night light' and the answering machine, then put the cat in the backyard. When our taxi arrived, we walked out our front door and our rather fat cat scooted between our legs inside, then ran up the stairs. Because our cat likes to chase our budgie we really didn't want to leave them unchaperoned so my husband ran inside to retrieve her and put her in the back yard again. I didn't want the taxi driver to know our house was going to be empty all evening, so I explained to him that my husband would be out momentarily and he was just bidding goodnight to my mother. A few minutes later he got into the cab all hot and bothered, and said, to my growing horror and amusement, as the cab pulled away. "Sorry it took so long but the stupid bitch was hiding under the bed and i had to poke her arse with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off so i grabbed her by the neck and wrapped her in a blanket so she wouldn't scratch me like she did last time. But it worked! I hauled her fat arse down the stairs and threw her into the backyard....she had better not shit in the vegetable garden again."2 points

We got told what we needed to do to gain Elite status. Spent hundreds of thousands reaching these standards (number of players, facilities, number of qualified coaches etc.), only for the SFA to change the requirements late on and it meant we missed out. Never been any explanation as to why they suddenly changed their requirements. We can't apply for it again for another two seasons, and theres some doubt whether we'll actually bother. Pretty sure we run as close to it as we possibly can, and have a better set up than some who are deemed "Elite"1 point

I agree he is being honest and that's fair enough but can you imagine if he has a poor game having been picked ahead of say Muzz for instance - he would get dogs abuse from the stands! I'm all for signing decent prospects but I want them to want to be here. The guy we sold early this year highlighted only too well how a disaffected player can upset the dressing room and performance.1 point -

He is honest enough to more or less say he will only sign for us if he doesn't get a better offer. A bit naive though as there is no way it will endear him to the fans.1 point -

Disagree, Tommy is right. He is saying to a guy who is out of contract at the end of the season and is currently playing for a relegated side, I want you, here is contract to guarantee you this wage for the next two years in an established SPL side who have been in Europe the last 4 years, have won a national trophy. If Ryan Dow had any sense or possible any decisiveness about him, he would bite Tommys hand off. That's how business is done in Scottish football.. It's no longer about seeking big contracts, it's about finding a secure club who will offer you a safe and secure environment financially and then secondly will offer you a safe and secure platform to play to the best of your ability and move on when you are ready.1 point -

I'd give Alston time to see out the play-offs, but Dow wasn't even a certain starter in one of the worst sides to grace the top league for many a year. He seems to have some sort of inflated idea of his own worth. If he hasn't signed by the weekend then he should be told the offer is withdrawn. It's easy to blame agents, but they are employed by the players. If he wanted to be here, he'd have signed in the last week. Most clubs just seem to roll over to this nonsense. The will he, won't he stuff just brings us closer to next season with gaps still needing filled in the side. I can't think of any other area of employment where you can tell the people that have offered you a job, "well I might, if there's nothing better comes along in a few weeks."1 point -

Ryan Dow was told that he had no future at United. It's pretty much a certainty that Alston has a future at Falkirk. He has been one of their stand-out players this season. Understandably, he'd like to show loyalty to his current club. I imagine he'll stay there unless Falkirk remain in the Championship.1 point -

That's not exactly true. Alston still doesn't know which league his current club will be playing in next season.1 point -
as the Leicester city manager said about his players on Saturday they won't to leave the can go I only want players who want to play here,,Tommy take note because we only want players who want to be at this small but wonderful club we don't want Ryan Dow here now we can do better1 point

My Grandmothers first husband fell at Ypres, Although he was talked about no one really knew much about him as Gran never said that much, The parchment I got from Ashton had a lot of detail about him where he was born (Sutherland ) where he lived in Perth , Age he fell and where to find his grave, in a way it I felt a bit closer to him.1 point
