I can't believe you're actually defending what you said by offending people further. Naturally lots of people would rather live in a 7 bed Victorian villa on Kinnoull hill than a 3 bedroom former council house in Tulloch but for 99% of people that's a bit far reaching. I don't actually know anyone who could afford to live there. I've only met two people in my entire life who have lived there and neither of them do now, as it was their parents houses. In Tulloch, the street I live on is full of people who own their own homes, we all have cars and work for a living. There are a few young couples and families starting out in life plus a good few retired couples (who used to work, funnily enough). There's no trouble, everyone knows everyone else and lots of us have lived here for a very long time. The houses don't look as nice as the ones in Oakbank or Kinnoull Hill and its maybe not your cup of snobbish tea but to describe it as a "shite part of town" is offensive to the people who live there. There are small pockets that are perhaps less desirable (I.e. down by the shops) in both Letham and Tulloch but by and large, no problems. Certainly in Tulloch, people take pride in their gardens, there's no rubbish strewn about or stuff lying dumped about the place. I don't go to Letham much so can't say too much about it but know lots of people who live there who never complain about it. The 208 in its current state is not pleasant and nobody has disagreed with you there. I said it has potential to be something better and outlined the ways in which that could happen. You're just assuming the area it's in is full of folk who can't afford to eat out or go out for a few drinks therefore couldn't support it. I'm sure that may be true for some people but I'm telling you - from personal experience, having actually lived here - that your view point doesn't actually speak for the majority. You are making a crass generalisation based on an ignorant opinion of the place. I have plenty of disposable income and regularly eat out. Incidentally I know a few people who live in Oakbank who don't have a lot of disposable income because they've rooked themselves trying to live in a house they can barely afford. Stop being so narrow minded and judgemental.

  2. Disagree completely. Lappin has been a great asset to the club and has always put in a great shift. I hoped we would have retained him for another season. His crosses and dead ball delivery along with experience and reading of the game will be missed. Simon, I salute you for your efforts and wish you well in the future.

    Forest want Tommy

Forest fan here. Interesting thread but I think you can probably rest easy. Forest's owners are currently negotiating selling a controlling stake in the club to the owner of Olympiakos. We're not appointing anyone until this goes through and it's unlikely new owner will want to go for anyone other than a 'name'. TW would be far too sensible an appointment. To placate fans whilst the takeover goes through, the current owner put it out that they wanted to get a manager in with links to Forest so this is likely just papers talking bollocks.

  6. 5-1 away to the famous Aberdeen was the highlight for me. It was almost unbelievable . The look on the faces of some of the Dons fans was priceless. Low point was every time we played Partick Thistle.. Best goal... Captain Daves last minute free kick winner in Dingwall... It was sweet and the timing was just perfect..

  9. George has another year with Saints and expects that he may go out on loan in the Championship with Dumbarton a possibility. Nevertheless he is going all out in pre-season to see if he can get into the Saints' squad for next season.

  11. He will not be going to Forest thats for sure Half way through his speech at player of year tonight he pretended to get a call from someone After a pause he said out loud in that accent of his " Na no thanks" then went on to slag Dundee and Hearts and congratulate his own teams achievements he's here for a long time in my opinion

  15. Away to Inverness early in the season, Mackay had been sent off so we were down to ten and in full shitfest mode. Fisher was forced into knocking the ball out for a throw in, but instead of just doing the normal thing and rolling it out, he absolutely battered it out the stadium instead, leading to everyone involved with Caley absolutely losing it. Fairly sure Fisher got booked for it but Yogi Hughes spend the next five minutes stomping around in a huff. Glorious.

  17. Disappointed to see Brown gone, for me he was more deserving of a contract than Thomson, who seems to have just hit a goo patch of form when we were all shitting ourselves. Can't imagine he'd have been on huge wages either. Suppose its maybe arrogance to suggest it was our choice though, and for all we know he refused to speak to us as he was after more regular football. I'll miss Lappin too, got a rough ride of it from Saints fans for a while but has had some great moments with us. The others are all pretty meh, never really seen much of them though tbf. Delighted Suttons been told he can leave, while its likely just a matter of time before McKay is told hes also free to go. Not entirely sure going on holiday to Thailand when he could've been training and trying to impress was the wisest choice he could've made.

  18. Thanks to all who are departing especially Simon and Scott, will always remember the strikes against Dundee Utd and Rangers, Simon was a shining light when we had dealings with him after my youngest got hit in the face last Christmas, model pro and a really nice guy. Best of luck Simon all the best

  20. His motivations seem to be different to the previous managers. Perhaps it's an age thing, or perhaps he's just happy to find a job at a club that is a good fit for him and in an area that he (and his wife, importantly) enjoys living. It took him a while to properly up sticks and move everything over here full time, so it's obviously not a decision that he takes lightly. He speaks openly about not enjoying big city living, and I can't imagine he would be a fan of constantly moving around from job to job chasing the dream. This is purely guess-work and assumptions, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons the Dundee United job may have been considered by TW earlier in the season is because it's just down the road and would have meant he could still live where he is. Unless a 'too good to be true' offer from a club down south appears, then I imagine that he'll be with us until his country comes calling.

And in the case of this particular paper you can be pretty sure that is the case. They excel at sowing the seeds of uncertainty and discontent amongst smaller Scottish clubs whenever they have column space to fill.

If you make your business appealing then people will travel from these more "affluent" areas to come to you. Incidentally I live in Tulloch and find the description "shit part of town" extremely offensive. I live in a row of houses that are all privately owned by very respectable, lovely people. The Cherrybank is just a pub with a nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. They've made a good name for themselves by doing the simple stuff really well and now they're extending. You can tell they have worked really hard to make a success of what they do. Meanwhile the 208 has rested on being a bit of an old mans pub with a function room attached. It could be so much more. If I was buying it, that's the route I would go down with it. It would need completely refurbished, the name would have to go and serious investment in the kitchen/food side of things. It has potential.

  41. What has he been lucky with? Sustaining a decent Premiership standard squad? Masterminding some of the best moments in our history? Continually motivating the squad to successive top half finishes? Consistently tactically outclassing so-called bigger teams? That's all down to the man, not down to luck.
