  1. We might be a team with our SPL compliant 10,000 seater stadium and our super underground heating system but we should show more respectful to teams in the lower divisions like Albion Rovers. It doesn't seem that long ago that Muirton Park was limited to under 5,000 because it was such a dump. Instead of moaning and coming over all self important, try and thank the helpers from two sets of supporters who volunteered to try and get the game on for all of us.

  3. Yes I know that but as a matchday squad consists of 18 players and he is already out of it and they have dorrans miller and docherty all to fit in. Then my view is that he will be even further down the ladder.

  4. Saints will not sign anyone...to be honest we will be paying 3 injury prone guys not knowing if or when they,l be fit to play more than a couple of games. What they could do is promote from within . Young, hungry ,fit players is the way ahead........im so fed up watching macca never shoot or win a header and watch Midge sitting on the bench or Hendry in the stand. Id say saints would be a dam good team if we get the balance right. A good mix of youngsters and old heads is the way to go ......but thats down to the manager. Also with fixture conjestion this is the perfect time blood a couple of youngsters. COYS.

  7. Well said, Albion Rovers did their very best with limited resources to get this game on. But what about the SFA? Within an hour or so of Saturday's call off the game was rescheduled as planned for the Tuesday and our game v Killie postponed. But did anybody stop and think? At that point the pitch was still 70% covered in snow, a substantial snowfall was forecast for the Sunday followed by rain on the Monday and Tuesday. It must have been obvious that Rovers would struggle, despite their best efforts, to cope with these conditions in time for Tuesday. But no its only Albion v St Johnstone, just get the tea boy to bung out the revised details whilst attention is paid to more important matters like ensuring the bigot brothers are kept apart in the draw for the next round. At the very least the tie should have been put back to Wednesday or indeed put straight back to Monday next. Come to think about it did anyone at Saints ask if thought had been given to the obvious problems?

  10. When you consider on Saturday it took an average of around 35 people 3.5 hours to clear 30% of the pitch plus get the surrounding areas gritted then you can see how long it takes to clear a full pitch. Those 35 people were like burst balls by then - most of them over the age of 45. No way they could carry on for the full day. I'm reasonably fit and my back was killing me by half eleven. You have to remember that the snow you dig out in the middle of pitch has to be dragged 50 yards to the side and dumped on top of an ever growing mountain of snow. And it's heavy. And it's slow. So all the volunteers left on Sat and they had absolute blizzards on Sunday - another 4 or 5 inches of snow laying. Nothing you can do about that and no clearing could go on. Even if they covered the areas that were previously cleared you still need to dig that out again. On Monday they got landscape gardening company to come on (for free) to clear the pitch as best they could. Remember everyone is at work - not easy to get volunteers. By that point the thaw starts and the ground starts to get a bit soggy. Then today, it's absolutely pissed it down the full day on an already soggy pitch. I'm not sure what else they could have done? Sometimes in Scotland the weather is just shite.

  11. I think people are being really unfair on Albion Rovers and their efforts to get the game on. Please remember this game was postponed due to the elements and a really large snow fall. Rovers are a lower division club with limited reduces to real with this. It sounds like they have done all they can. With all the resources we have, we have had games postponed when the pitch is playable but didn't clear the car park. We live in Scotland, what do you expect. All credit to Albion Rovers and their fans (and some of ours) for their efforts to date
