I was diagnosed with high blood pressure recently, and I have no doubt that it has mainly been caused by reading posts from Cagey and mainstand on We Are Perth. If they could inform me that it's purely satirical (even if that's untrue), it would be the kindest thing to do for the sake of my health.

This is what gets me. Folk can argue with the stats (and these aren't advanced metrics, they are very simple: basically shots on target minus goals conceded) but are they not watching the guy? It annoys me that people are saying he's a hate figure or whatever. For a long time, people have kept quiet and backed him, keeping reservations to themselves. But this is 18 months now of poor form, eventually the patience is going to break. Saying we shouldn't criticise him until the summer because he's here until then whatever is fair enough I suppose but trying to claim he's not playing poorly, I just find that bizarre from anyone that actually watches a lot of the team in action.

No stats on defenders, midfielders, miscues, crosses defended, weather, missed chances, striker shots on target vs attempts, missed sitters, poor marking, angle and power of shot, swerve of ball, 'should have shot' instead of pass, sun glare .... ya di da Just this 'indisputable' stat on goalies, but not any other factors that create the overall team / player performance that impacts keeper performance and confidence in their back line. Our own manager, who spends hours upon hours with Zander, says he's the guy, so should CD be fired for being so stupid as he can't read these stats and not switch him? If Zander had the best stats in the league, but two terrible games on the trot, with dozens of errors, and same in practice, would stats matter to the manager or any of us? Players confidence is crucial ... great boost all round today...so lets keep witch hunting Zander, who looked confident and didn't put a foot wrong.

Because of the Covid issues I have decided to post a copy of the League as it stands and also on a points per game basis. I will try and update as quickly as possible after games are played so we have a true indication where we are if the league is called early.

In our last 6 games, according to the BBC, our opponents have taken 50 shots at our goal and Zander has conceded 8 goals. Your statement above is either wrong or your information source uses a different measurement system.

Joe lewis looked shite today....but can't drop him below zander as it doesn't fit the stat rhetoric.

The guy could score 4 goals in a game and still they would find something to complain about.

So it's ok to say........ statistically he's performing poorly. Not ok to say.....he's a useless big shitebag.

Thanks randoom. So can we say saints defence is blocking a lower proportion of shots than other teams? take a hypothetical situation. Rounding that figure to 2, a team that has 6 shots on target will score 3 goals against us by that measure. Have I got that correct? So the other three shots, were they saved by the keeper or blocked by defenders? In the situation where all 3 blocked by defenders then keeper has actually faced 3 shots and let in 3! To me this measure is therefore a reflection of the whole teams defence, not just the keeper. Am I missing something?

I don't think I've ever voted for Kane before in my life, but Davidson seems to be turning him into a decent striker. One reason is that he's got him to turn defenders and run at them.

I can go back to 2015/16 to see how Mannus compares against Clark in terms of how many shots it takes to score into them... Mannus poor in 15/16 so Clark got his chance 16/17. Mannus dips in 17/18 and leaves, Clark responds by improving in 18/19. Since then Clark has declined pretty heavily. That corresponds with what I've watched, does it not with you?

It's the same stuff whenever a player is criticised. Need a hate figure, all players in that position are criticised by our dreadful fans etc... The irony is that the very people trying to dispute black and white evidence are the ones fabricating claims like above. Alan Mannus did have a dip in form in his Saints career and was replaced by Zander Clark, as should happen when a player isn't performing well or to standards set. What happened was that Mannus raised his game and won the shirt back, after which both goalkeepers seemed to bring the best out of each other. Without going back over the whole thread, I'd suggest virtually all the posts being critical of Clark set out the reasons why. Maybe, instead of just criticising those making the posts and endulging in whataboutery, those backing the goalkeeper could make the case for why he's, in their eyes, playing to an acceptable standard and is above criticism. Anyone?

Yeah, May had a few good games a month or so ago after a slow start but he looks to be back where he was at the start of the season. Now he looks like he is running in sand & because he hasn't got pace is getting caught offside by trying to get behind the defence.

I agree I think Holt would have been a more astute signing rather than Bryson. As well as printing youth we do need a Matt Butcher type signing, a player at a good age, fairly tall and athletic and has played at a good level and needing first team football. There may be some mileage in promoting the young guys to the first team but as you say a bit of a gamble.

Ballantyne, and I think Ferguson is a CM too. I just worry we lose McCann this Summer. Bryson will presumably be away. That means we'll have Craig who is 34, and Davidson who will be 33, and then 2 untested youngsters, as our options in there. If they fail then we're potentially having to sign 2/3 CMs capable of starting for us in one window. What's the chances of that? We shouldve signed Jason Holt permanently.

I think today sums up what I find most frustrating about Kane. Not faulting his work rate, nor am I complaining that his goal has secured three points. However, I know this may be petty, seeing as he’s scored two in two, but his lack of composure in front of goal is hugely frustrating. Good run & positioning for his shot which led to the goal but looking at it again he’s bloody lucky with the rebound which he almost hits back into the path of the keeper. Shoe on the other foot Zander would have been slated for doing the same. As for the shot at the end, again lack of composure, plenty of time but he’s leaning back and the shot is always rising. I’m sure plenty will say but he’s scored, we’ve won, but for a great save he’d have scored two, give him a break. I just think he doesn’t have the composure and over a season he’ll miss far more than he’ll score.

I’ve given big Zander Clark a lot of stick lately but he commanded his area better than he has at any point over the last 12-18 months for me today. That inspires confidence in the defence and it showed today. Well done Zander.

And the reverse is, if our forwards stopped squandering double figure chances every game and our defenders stopped parting like the Dead Sea giving opposition players so many clear chances, how many more points would we have? It is a team game and constantly slaughtering individual players rather than getting behind them does the club no good whatsoever.
