I think undersoil heating was the tuning point as it used to be a great surface.

Was that the longest league league game in Saints history? The irony is that Livingston's time wasting was probably what killed them. Had they changed their approach and had a bit more faith in themselves they probably would have won that.
Given how bad things looked at this time last week, I think you have to say four points from these last two games is a pretty good outcome and has given us back a tiny bit of breathing space in comparison to how things could have been.
My feeling is we took Aberdeen by surprise by hitting them with two up front and particularly Kimpioka's pace. But yesterday Clark was essentially playing as a midfielder for most of the game which meant Kimpioka was playing on his own against three big defenders who were ready for him and he just didn't really stand a chance. Having two strikers on the pitch is a step forward but we need to be brave enough to actually use them as strikers or it becomes a bit pointless.
Sidibeh and May both looked lively when they came on and I like our striking options at the moment but I'm not sure the best way to use them has quite clicked together yet. And when DJ had to go off it seemed to kill off our gameplan a bit.
Just a general thought, but surely something has to be done about the amount of players now going down holding their heads to get games stopped? I think if players with head "injuries" had to go off the pitch for five minutes to have these injuries monitored/treated you'd very quickly see a big reduction in the number of players claiming to have had head knocks.

Made heavy weather of it against a bunch of cheating time wasters and an incompetent ref. Probably didn't deserve 3 points but didn't deserve to lose either.
Giod goal from Nicky as well.

    Sorry Aitch,
I thought Kimp was too close to gimp so I stuck on the y.
Benji it is to keep harmony in the squad.

I couldn’t care less about the game, I just want you to stop calling Kimpioka “Kimpy”. Benji is fine. Kimpy is horrific.

Agree with most of what has been written so far, much improved performance last night.  With special mentions to Robinson, DJ, Sprangler and Benji who I thought were all excellent.
But definitely worth mentioning the performance of Liam Gordon, I thought he was absolutely tremendous, defensively solid and also seemed to spend the night urging the players forward at every opportunity, he even stepped out from defence and played one or two decent forward passes.  He's been the subject of a lot of stick this season (some merited, some way over the top) so only fair to acknowledge when he performs well.

Really good performance. DJ was excellent on the left wing, Benji great up front and the midfield trio never gave up. Couple of nervy moments but more than happy with the performance, attitude and hunger shown on the park.

The rot set in when Davidson and Brown started coming out with stuff about us “just being happy to be in the league” and “avoiding relegation would be a bigger achievement than winning two cups”.

An organisations mindset is set by those at the top. Coyle, McInnes, Lomas and Wright were always looking for us to be more ambitious and push us on to the next level.

I cant see a change being made this season. Levein was brought in to keep us in the league and at this moment in time we are evidently in a better position in the leagues than when he came in. Come this Saturday at 5pm we will have a better indication of where we are at. Really need to be looking for two much better performances than what we have seen since our return from the winter break. A win against Livi on Saturday is a must.
I can see us finishing 11th. Cowie has come across well in his interviews and the likes of Dhanda, Murray, White and Brophy are all capable of scoring goals. I would have absolutely no confidence going into a play off game against the likes of Morton or Raith with this bunch of players. We would get bullied all over the place.
As has been mentioned, given Levein a three year deal seems madness. After being burnt with Macca on a three year deal, surely the club should have learnt a lesson.

Wont be hard to get onboard with this.. think most will agree but there is no chance it will happen. We have him wether we like it or not. The trigger wont get pulled 2 times in 1 season. But his anti football is depressing

Once Levein initially came in I was open minded. I hoped that his most recent unsuccessful spell at Hearts was as a result of him taking on too much and that his time out of the game would have made him reflect and we would get closer to version of Craig Levein when he was manager at Dundee United. Things started reasonably well and he did seem to have us more structured and organised but since the Hibs game just before Christmas we have been awful and now I have serious doubts about him.
What are we working on in training? Our lack of attacking threat is absolutely embarrassing. St Mirren were quite happy to just let us have the ball at the back today us they knew we offered nothing going forward and they just waited on us inevitably losing possession before breaking against us with pace and numbers against our cumbersome defenders. Leveins been in football for a long time and Andy Kirk has been hailed as a great coach so how neither of them can see this is beyond me. A change of formation? Perhaps look at bringing Sprangler or May on? No, it’s alright we will just bring Max on to pass the ball backwards and sideways.
Levein talked about feeling he could improve players. Who has actually improved under him? Nobody as far as I can see.
I can see why so many are scunnerred with things at the moment. Paying £300 for a season ticket and/or attending away games at an average cost of £50 per games to watch us offer nothing. The football on display is dreadful. Can anyone offer any sort of explanation as to why Gallacher was at rwb today? Never a great sign when a manager brings in his own players and a few weeks later they can’t get in the team.
The players also need to take a bit of responsibility as well. It’s simple things like giving possession away and not tracking runners. We have the opportunity to get rid of a lot of players who have simply not been up to at the end of the season, but unfortunately at this moment I have seen very little that gives my any confidence that Levein will be able to rebuild a squad that can be energetic, determined and most importantly offer much more in an attacking sense.

Struggled to cope on the pitch but that was no excuse. St Midden pressed us constantly and the Saints players just couldn't handle it - too many panicky clearances / passes or when we did get forward they opted for the safe option.
Individually nobody was a disaster - I thought Adama did well given he was pretty much on his own until late on when DJ and Max supported. Matt Smith had a decent game as did Dan although the latter was very negative with his passing.
Defence was poor though when put under pressure. Robinson didnt really come into the game until he had DJ as a wide option on the left (was that Careys role?). Gallacher did ok on the right but didnt contribute much and didnt really see much of the ball - Keltjens or Olufunwa would have been a better option.
Biggest disappointment for me was the lack of calmness and control that the experienced players had - Clark, Carey and to an extent Considine. All were poor on the day - the first 2 arguably contributed nothing all afternoon.  Clark especially given how much he was being talked about pre-match was anonymous - if we're going to start with 2 strikers then I'd argue that Benji or May deserves a spot in front of him

i cant get my head around why so may of our players make so many mistakes, basic passes going astray, or too slow and receiving player gets closed down. add in the effect of a lack of system and it is dire watching....

Levein needs to start playing a settled formation/team.
    I would go:
    Mitov
    McGowan Gordon Considine
    Keltjens  M Smith Phillips Robinson
                 Carey
    Sidibeh     Benji
