  1. Says in today's papers we are well down the road with negotiations to sign 2 players but GB has asked Del to hold fire until the Setanta situation is sorted out. Whatever happens surely we'll still have to sign a LB & a second keeper.
  2. Says in the Express we've offered him a 2 yr deal but he's in no rush as there's other SPL clubs interested.
  3. Yes Stark was a really nice guy (GB liked him a lot as a person) but unfortunately I think players take advantage of that & you end up with the manager losing control of things.
  4. Not criticising GB just saying he should have acted when he signed up Rusty, McCaff, etc. He could have improved the new contract later if the Setanta money materialised. At least that way if a bigger club came in for him we'd be in a stronger position re compensation.
  5. At the end of the season GB said there was no need to rush with regard to extending Del's contract. This surprised me a bit considering Coyle's contract was extended almost immediately after we just lost out to Gretna. Now clubs are sniffing around GB Is talking about improving his contract. IMO this should have been done earlier as he was bound to be consdered for other managerial vacancies & with only a year left on his contract Saints won't receive much compensation.
  6. Ironic considering Gretna played a whole season in the SPL without laying a single brick on a new SPL standard stadium.
  7. Read in PA that Saints denied they were interested in signing Imrie or Marc Twaddle. Also saw that Rocco Quinn has signed for QoS (only played 4 games for Hamilton since Jan). We're also spending £100k on upgrading the floodlights.
  8. First few seasons at McD we regularly got crowds of 7 or 8000 then the novelty wore off & crowds started to drop.
  9. Steward near me was tellling people that seats with reserved stickers weren't reserved as the stickers were left overs from last season! Then same people were coming back & telling him they couldn't sit in them cos fans were telling them they were reserved.
  10. Yes i missed the pen cos i couldn't see that half of the pitch for the 1st 25 mins. The organization was a shambles & the police slow to react.
  11. Christ, don't mention glory hunters! I did that & complaints poured in! Apparently fans who only turn up for the title deciders are as much true Saints fans as we are. That's funny cos i know 4 people who attended today who live in Perth but support other teams.
  12. I agree. I think he deserves another contract as I think he could do a job for us in the SPL as he would get more time on the ball - a class act. The whole midfield looked smooth/silky/classy today & Savo & Sammy(until his injury) played well up front &, if he hadn't missed that header from a few yards out, Savo would've had a well-deserved hat trick. Defence was tight apart from the pen which i can't comment on due to the fact that i couldn't see that end of the pitch for the 1st 25 mins due to the number of fans standing in the East Stand gangway as there wasn't enough seats for them! Given that we had the same problem during the last home game against Dundee why wasn't the Ormond Stand open? Eventually they were sent over to the West Stand but the whole thing was pretty shambolic but thankfully didn't spoil a great day for every Saints fan!:D:D
  13. Yes & no mention of paying off the reputed £7m debt. The bank is giving them the leeway that no business in a similar position would get. If you can afford to make 6 figure bids for players then pay back the money you owe!
  14. Fantastic result at Dens. Would be great to win the title at home in front of a big crowd!
  15. Dobbie hasn't signed a pre-contract for anyone yet: 1) he said a week or so ago that although clubs were sniffing around him his main aim at present was keeping QoS in Div 1. 2) if he had it would have leaked out by now. 3) after the Saints game Chisholm said he would try his hardest to keep him at QoS. 4) Saints won't sign anyone till they know which division they'll be in next season.
  16. Read that Swansea were interested in Dobbie. I don't think we've much chance of getting him.
  17. Read somewhere he'd been capped 7 times for Eire & that Ipswich had offered £250k for him at some point so Del isn't alone in rating him. I think he's shown enough in the few games he's had to be offered a deal.
  18. Hibs also released him before we got him cos he wasn't getting a regular game for them.
  19. I didn't accuse you personally of being a glory hunter 'matey'.
  20. My point exactly - people like to support winning teams.
  21. Great contribution to the discussion:laugh:
  22. When Aberdeen & Dundee U were dominating Scottish football in the early 80s Rangers often had poor attendances sometimes as low as 10000 so does that mean there's only 10000 real Gers?.....come to think of it, it probably does! I rest my case. And yes, I'll be in the East Stand tomorrow.
  23. Anyone is entitled to go to any match they like. Still doesn't explain the fact that the Old Firm probably have as many supporters in Perth as Saints do. I know guys who travel down to watch Man U & Liverpool. Would they do that if they were a couple of mid-table teams? A lot of people like to support winning teams & if you if you can't see that then you know fanny-all.
