Was there not a rumour about us signing Abdeljalil Hadda after the '98 World Cup?
-
Oh...
Thought I'd beat you to it because I set up my fantasy premier leagur team this morning and couldn't be arsed having two.

Yeah i'll concede it is becomming far to commercial, but still a great weekend!!
What do you mean by 'commercial'? If you mean the advertising and that - I don't see it, it's always been sponsored by a brewery how can you get more commercial than that? If you mean the music, the first year I went ('95) featured Kylie Minogue, The Beautiful South and M People, hardly cutting edge.

Not a bad draw. Not too exciting but not too far to go either. I'm happy enough with that.
I'm sure I remember thinking something similar in about '95 and look how that ended up!

Stenhousemuir away, 5th or 6th of August. Clicky!

On the subject of Gretna, I saw a Wm. Armstrong lorry on the M6 the other day with "Gretna FC - Living the Dream" in massive letters on the trailer. I nearly crashed my car I was laughing so hard.
-
I saw the I-Max trailer for this the day before Ledger died, it's basically an entire scene of a bank robbery carried out by the Joker and his crew. Based on that alone it looks like this is going to be brilliant. An added bonus is the replpacement of the incredibly dull, one-dimensional Katy Holmes with the far hotter, better actress Maggie Gyllenhall.

Tony Warner! They're sure to stay up with signings of that quality.
-
I think Cameron's a pretty good signing, I saw him score a pearler for MK Dons against Macclesfield last year. He's not the player he was - but then again he doesn't have to be in this division - and he's no Kevin McDonald but he'll still do a job for them.
Overall Dundee do look a bit weaker than they did last year (at the moment) while we are probably about breaking even (once we get a left back) as most of our impressive signings were already here towards the end of last season. I think it's going to be tight.
-
Derby made a whole load of signings last summer and it didn't really help them.
Derby didn't really make the quality of signings they wanted to though, Davies almost walked away last summer because he didn't think the club were investing enough money to stay up. He was right but they sacked him anyway.

Having seen Stoke last season, I have to agree with Jimbo, how they even made it to the Premier League is beyond me - relegation beckons. I'd like to see Hull do well just because of Dean Windass but I can't really see anything other than relegation for them. West Brom are the only one of the three promoted teams who'll stay up but they'll have to scrap for it.

Radford posted a better pic on P&B. The top's pale blue, as opposed to the the turquoise look of the top above. It's actually not too bad, although the sponsor's logo looks ridiculous.
If you look in The Courier though, it looks more like the above strip. Maybe it's a global hypercolour top...

Any idea what the away one is like?
There was one on e-bay t'other day. I'm not overly impressed by it to be honest.

Time for some outlandish predictions for Saints fortunes for the coming season:
1. Top Scorer?
2. Player of the year?
3. Dyron Daal/Carthorse of the year?
4. How many times will we beat Dundee?
5. Where will we finish?
and for the league in general:
1. Top Scorer?
2. Player of the year?
3. Predict the league table:
and Scotland in general
1. Who will win the SPL
2. Will any team go bust, if so who?
3. Will George Burley still be in a job on the last day of the season?
-
Man City!
-
Totally agree, this would be an excellent signing.
I rated him highly at Hearts and at Dundee United last season.
Would be surprised if they weren't keeping him.
A target man who can score a few goals is exactly what we need.
The thing is, he's not scored consistantly since he left Hearts, less than 10 in three years at Leicester, only two with united last year. I do think he'd bring something different to the team but I'm not convinced that it would be goals.

I think the problem is that once you are a member of the SFL there is no way they can dump you. There is no relegation or pyramid system that given them an escape route.
But they weren't SFL members until yesterday, if the SPL are under no obligation to take our champions then the SFL are surely under no obligation to take their disasters.

My attempt
From Red&Blue http://www.yorkcityfc.com/York Minstermen committee member Phil Howden compiled this quiz for our AGM - and taunted me mercilessly throughout with drunken text messages from the Ukraine. There are 48 points up for grabs - can you do better without searching for the answers on the internet? In fairness most people here might struggle a bit with the York City section, but see how you do. The winners of the quiz scored 38 points. Someone else, who shall remain nameless, scored a very creditable 27 (despite mis-hearing question 2 and saying it was East Fife
), when you consider that he was Billy No-team-mates for the evening.

I love the quote from David Longmuir where he called them "a thriving club"; if having no players, no staff, 12 fans, a shithole ground and a place in the third division is thriving then I'd hate to see what a struggling club looks like. I think it's pretty clear that they are properly rubber ducked now - Spartans to take their place?
-
I've e-mailed Coventry City a couple of times about this during the past week, to ask if they have any details, but haven't received any reply.
Have you tried Saints?
