Last night was absolutely atrocious. Never have I felt like walking out of a game after 12 minutes but had their free kick gone in shortly after they went 2-0 up, I would've got out of my seat and went home. Why should I sit there in near freezing conditions when the players don't care? The manager just sat down in front of the dug out for parts of the first half. He may be human and he may be feeling defeated but he is paid to lead this team and make decisions. A good coach would've made changes to that situation straight away last night. He seems to still believe these players will get us out of this mess but doesn't seem to realise it's not the same players that have been so reliable for him the last few years. No Millar, MacKay, Wright or Easton on the pitch last night. The other stalwarts are not leaders. Anderson doesn't talk, Mannus doesn't talk, Davidson always keeps his level up but doesn't drag others up with him. There is NO leader on the pitch. For all MacKay seems to be nearing the end of his career, he is a leader and we miss him.
Darnell Fisher jogging about the pitch all night, being repeatedly turned with ease, letting two midfielders do his job for him. At times he was literally hiding in the centre of defence while said midfielders went out wide to pick up his man for him but only after the crowd started groaning and booing after their wide man was allowed to travel into the box with no Saints player anywhere near him for the umpteenth time. This sums up - for me - how this team has turned to shit. Tommy Wright is responsible for fielding guys like that. He's responsible for Fishers very presence at this club and it's a complete smack in the face that Frazer Wright was the kind of player forced to leave to accommodate it.
I hate listening to the manager saying there wasn't much between the teams and we played well. We did NOT play well and there was a gulf between the teams. We got ourselves back into it but that turned to shit when he took Wotherspoon off and brought on an untested kid who was poor. Last season TW was some sort of tactical master whose subs won us points. The last couple of months his subs have been so poor. They lost us the game last Tuesday night and again last night. Thomson was a rotten decision and Sutton was beyond dreadful when he came on.
This is a huge period of transition for us and I'm not advocating sacking TW. We need to avoid the drop and then the summer will be huge. I would appreciate a greater degree of honesty and empathy from him and an end to the crap of how we are "playing well enough" because we are not. I don't want to listen to the players talking about top six. I'm a glass half full person but that is delusion and a blatant ignorance of the huge problems we are facing. Stop ignoring it. If we finish top six it's because other teams are somehow worse than us and that is no achievement when you're giving your paying customers crap like last night.
Still raging actually. Feel like that mental Kilmarnock fan. Saints are destroying my happiness at the moment.

Hearts are too far gone. We will never catch them so them winning and keeping ICT in their place is good for us. Ross County winning keeps Killie in their place too which is also good for us. Win tomorrow and we go back above County. The results went in our favour tonight as far as I'm concerned. 4th is as good as we can hope for this season but I'm still looking down rather than us.

Hard to know what the team will look like. I'm going to assume Millar will be rested again for this. I hope Easton is back as we have missed his attacking threat. Obviously if he's not then Scobbie it is and he's been fine as a stand in.

                                 Mannus
         Fisher  Anderson  Shaughnessy  Easton
         Wotherspoon  Davidson  Lappin  Craig
                                Swanson
                                MacLean

If Millar is going to play then you could take your pick of who will drop to the bench between Lappin and Craig. Swanson is too easily dispossessed to play right in front of the full back. I like him better when he's more central and has free reign to move about and link play. The one thing that has struck me of late is a complete lack of pace in the squad but I just don't see Thomson or Kane starting.
I'm not jumping on the must win bandwagon but I would be sorely disappointed to lose three games to Thistle. We really need to win this one if we seriously harbour hopes of finishing in the top six. If we finish bottom six it might be the most rubbish end to a season since we got promoted such is the closeness of all the teams. There would be some right crap dogfight shitfesting going on.
    Please can we win???

It's a very good point away from home under the circumstances. Aberdeen would've been buoyed by the Celtic result the night before and our midfield looked scary to be honest. I was dreading it a bit. One thing I would say is Aberdeen are just like any other side out with Celtic - take out guys like Rooney, Hayes and Logan and they don't have the strength in depth to cope with it. They were equally hampered by absences as we were. They won't win the league over the course of a season for this reason.
I almost don't want to be critical but we are so slow and one dimensional that we didn't look like scoring all day yesterday and Aberdeen really were strolling to a 1-0 win. It was only after the subs came on that we looked more lively and ultimately the situation for the penalty arose. If you read the Aberdeen forum you will see they think the referees in this country don't want them to win the league and thats why we got the penalty but from where I was sitting it's as obvious a penalty as you will see. Liam did very well.
I still can't quite fathom how we've gone from the team of September/October to this? The loss of the pace of MOH is obvious at times but we went up there and recorded our best result and arguably performance of the season without him. Our players look slower than ever and seriously lacking in fitness compared to some of our opponents. I'm always happy to look to the next game and hope it will be better. We really need it to be better. Even if we just get one of the midfield M's back it would improve the midfield immeasurably. The most frustrating thing about Saints right now is watching players like Spoony and Swanson dithering on the ball because there's nothing in front of them (strikers???) and they don't want to pass back (probably due to the fans moaning to be honest!) then being dispossessed and putting us under pressure again
The other thing I find beyond tedious is the repetitive kick from Mannus to the far left of the pitch. That awful thing we do from the kick off where the ball is passed back to Fisher and he lumps it forward to the same position is equally tiresome. We seem incapable of holding the ball for any extended period of time which means we can't get any sort of attack together and leads to the individual errors that have cost us so many goals this season. We really need to work on keeping possession better and if that means ditching those tired tactics then so be it. We rarely win that long punt anyway.
Onto the positives - Anderson was outstanding yesterday and Shaughnessy did well. I'm also starting to like Fisher which is quite something after witnessing his night at Motherwell in December with my own eyes. Kane and Thomson gave us a bit of a spark and some pace (God help us, we need pace) and Craig did very well with the penalty. I saw someone on P&B saying Lappin isn't a CM but I thought he did well in what he was asked to do. He was talking to everyone around him and trying to get in Aberdeen players faces. You could see Mannus was trying to be more commanding in the area at set pieces and made some vital saves. The problem is we give away for too many dead ball situations. They had corners into the double figures yesterday and we didn't have one. That tells the story of where we are at the moment. The defence is getting better and the rest of the team really needs to step up and stop putting them under so much pressure.

From the Aberdeen forum? One of my favourites...
"We will never be ALLOWED to win the league"
Are these people for real? They've done well to compete with Celtic given the massive difference in squads and budgets. It's nothing to do with the referees and governing bodies. Collum played his part against Inverness but Inverness were the better side in a game where Aberdeen let their performance levels drop too far. Yesterday they struggled because three key men were out. I only recognised one name on their subs bench. Their first team is good enough to compete with Celtic but their squad isn't. Easier to just blame the referees and slag off the tactics of the "small" teams than accept they just aren't as big as they like to think they are.

Ando was also excellent on Tuesday.  If the pressure of the new lad coming in is in any way responsible for his upturn in form then even if he turns out to be no good it will have been worth it.

Only takes one win and all the bad feelings go away. One loss and they come flying back again.
I guess the biggest lesson in Football is not to get too carried away when you're winning and not to get too down when you lose. On the other hand, if we didn't care that much we wouldn't put ourselves through it.
So if we do beat Aberdeen today I'm going to absolutely milk it and pretend Europe is on the cards again. Best team in the country. If we lose, I'm not talking to anyone until Monday.

    Mannus
    Fisher - Anderson - Shaughnessy - Scobbie
    Wotherspoon - Brown - Lappin - Swanson
    Cummins - MacLean
I think. Huge, career defining, game for Brown here, flop and he'll be off in the Summer, impress and he could stake a serious claim over the next few weeks.

That type of chat isn't banter. It's not funny in any sense or form.
Not because of PC gone mad or because a current generation is wimpy but because it's stupid and it fuels ignorance, intolerance and racism.
    Condoning it is pathetic.
