We agree. If we want a more impactful, strategic marketing operation we would need to upgrade the function.
I don't want to do Mr Brown a disservice, but I don't think he seems inclined to invest in that. Maybe he's right too, there may not be any real commercial upside for an enhanced marketing team.

Very, very junior roles. That's 'Marketing Assistant' job description stuff.

    Sorry, what's behind a paywall?
Saints TV wasn't set up by the club, it's a bought in product, the same as other clubs such as Livingston etc. It's hosted on a different URL, uses the same style sheets etc.
Before, the club used to do thier own videos (Ross - agree he was good). I think if the current model puts interview videos behind a paywall, but that paywall gives access to home and away games for international fans, that's a very good trade off.

Probably a bit of A and a bit of B.
IME very few organisations outside of FMCG, FS and to an extent tourism do proper marketing. This is especially true in Scotland because we've got so few scale businesses making or selling products, and it's even more true of family businesses.
I don't think there's a right or wrong answer because I don't necessarily believe that the slow decline in bums on seats at McDairmid is necessarily something the club can spend themselves out of. If I was a marketing-sceptical, risk-averse MD with a massive ego and experience from an entirely different business model,  I think I'd be hard to convice.

Sorry what does 'show respect' mean? Of course he's been a great servant to the club. No denying that.
But he's not up to it, and frankly I'd rather see a Saints team winning without him than losing with him. Let's keep wheeling out Anderson too eh?
Nostalgia, history etc all important. It's what makes a club. But there are limits. He's paid to do a job he's currently not able to do.

I'm probably the biggest anti-Danny going, and I'd happily show him the door and kick his arse on the way out.
I will however concede that today, against a heartless Hibs that were being torn ragged and with a ruined defence, he was OK for the last 8 minutes or so.
But, I want him out. He's lazy and the talent he had has long disappeared. But more than anything else he's a 4 or 5th choice winger and we need his wages back.

    Just for folks reference.
Hallberg is a central midfielder who last played for Udinese in 2015 and has spent the four years since dotting about Scandanavian sides on loan. He left Udinese permanently last Summer to sign for a club who were relegated from Swedens top flight, which activated a release clause that let him move for nothing this Summer.

I think Kane's OK. My opnion has always been that he's a good level for the Championship and as utility hold-up or 3rd choice squad striker. Absoluely nothing has really changed my view on that in his time with us. I also agree that getting on the backs of players isn't really fair, unless they are not interested, not trying, not keeping fit or being disruptive. Kane is a player that clearly works his sock off and plays for the team. I like him.
But that's just my view. I'm certainly not going to criticise other supporters for having a view on a player's performace or suitability, and I'll never presume to suggest that anyone isnt' 'a real fan'.
As for the rest of the post, what I read is yet more 'we should get down and know our place' stuff that's on here far too often for my liking. We're a regular top 6 Premiership team and we have every right to expect a striker that can deliver quantity and quality of goals against that benchmark.
The lack of ambition disguised as 'realism' on here is what really gets me down, not people criticising players.

    Not always.
Andrea Pirlo and Graeme Le Saux (just off the top of my head) were bone idle. You need a mix in a team at work ... I'll take someone smart, inspirational and a bit lazy over some of the absolute plodders who only know how to put in a shift, if that's what the job needs. Hard work is hard, but anyone can do it. It's not a talent and is often a substitute for effectiveness.
I think that's a big part of the Kane issue in that he makes up for playing flair with graft. But, as others have said, he's not being played best as a lone striker. Same as the work analogy - you can transform performance by finding someone the right role.

It didn't come from the papers, it was stated by his lawyer in court as part of his sentence mitigation plea.
Don't know the specifics but I guess it could have been something like 'a conviction for violent conduct could prevent Mr Swanson playing professional football in countries such as the United States'.

Valentino Bolognese reacted to Muirton's Bairn in Ask Brown a question
Someone should ask Mr Brown to hold a discussion on opening up the whole of McDiarmid to any club capable of filling the stands. We stare at empty seats with flags on and they could be generating cash for the club. This would generate income for all smaller clubs as well if they did the same.
Also, start out and reform the way supporters are treated around the grounds. They could use a better registration and trusted away support system. Allocation can still be controlled by the visiting teams on their ballot draw selection but no reason Saints can not intervene at their own discretion. Step out of line and you will be handed a lifetime ban on all SFA sites. Obviously the crime must be serious. Songbooks are part of the 90 mins entertainment. We're not needing safe space PC snowflake roasters at the fitbaw.
Even Rangers have started a "Anywhere anyone" scheme. It's time a new approach was looked into in other grounds. Perhaps a SFA issued smart card for away supporters. Start treating even the likes of celt*c as humans and stop the steward hassle and body searches. Any pyro's and the area in question has a ban of 5 seats radius. Easy to control with smart cards. Not you at the game ? Tough, it's your card and your problem regardless who starts it. Need money for new turnstyles , well the SNP are always chucking money away, get a sports grant instead of spunking it on rubbish schemes like train station signs or junk, free education degrees for foreigners. Get a grant for the sporting nations health.

Look, Scottish football is in trouble and we all know it. At least something has to be done. How difficult would it be to have an away smart card for any club? It wouldn't. It would be easy. Remember, any supporter turning up at Hampden is on camera and stored by Glesga polis. The vans are all over collecting data. They just don't admit it. So data collection and registration is by consent. It's all easy to do, just need the drive to succeed.

I advised businesses too. Many of them folded, jobs gone, disaster. If they’d have listened six months earlier they might have survived, but no.
My original point was why should fans help a business which has cash of £2m+?

It was as much Swanson off as it was Hendry on if you ask me.
Get that man the **** away from this football team.
Also our Estonian wins a lot in the air, but is the definition of bombscare. Hendry back please.
Not sure I entirely agree with the view (also the Livi view) that the visitors threw it away. I honestly think that we were the far better team in the second half and actually deserved the comeback. I'd have had MOM at O'Halloran rather than Kennedy.
Disappointed that Gary Holt has given up any pretence at playing football and is intent in creating a team of absolute vandals. Poundshop Hearts. Officials today were a joke.
Keep the fight that we showed, get Gordon and Wright back, bring in a striker (2 ideally) and a central mid (although McCann is starting to show some form) and FFS stop with the 5 either at the back or the middle and just play 4-4-2 FFS.
^ that should see us safe IMO.

Not too bad now. Stopped raining late afternoon and I think it was pretty dry overnight.
Suspect it will be on if it stays like this but it's pretty cloudy and I'd expect another deluge as there's an ton of rain slowly moving up from the south that could hit us late afternoon, or might not reach us in time.
    I'd recommend keeping an eye on this;

So when your team is on a bad run you just turn your back on them and go and watch someone else?
From where I live I could easily start going to ICT, Ross County, Elgin or any number of decent Highland League teams.
Or I could just continue to skive off work early and drive 110 miles down to  Perth in whatever conditions the A9 can throw at me to support my team and then drive 110 miles back.
Yeah, I think I'll just keep doing that, no matter who our chairman or manager or three goals a season striker is.

All the stuff in the first paragraph I completely agree with. I don't think that we're deliberately being geared up to be put on the market. However, they have talked about reducing headcount (players) and a lot of the big assets on the books will be well depreciated by now, and the family have been in charge for a while. Any other business you'd think that it would be at least talking to them if you were on the lookout to buy. My argument is that for Steve, it could be good timing. And as a prudent businessman that he allegedly is there's no way he won't have an exit strategy.
As for investors, again like any other business it absolutely depends on the motivation, and what they want to and expect to get out of it. For example Fergus McCann seems to have had a real love and passion for the club. I'd say that most Celtic fans thought that went fairly well.
Partick Thistle is interesting. That was a well-meaning fan that pumped a fair bit of his own cash into the club but it mostly seems to have been spent on infrastructure and all that did was help the balance sheet. Not close enough to the detail to say if it's gone 'well' or not but suspect that while it's not been a game changer I don't think it's been actively harmful and they're probably where they would have been anyway but with better training facilities.
Then there's Ross County who I would argue have done well out of an angel investor, and have definitely over-achieved when you consider that they're a club from a small rural town on the far fringes of a tiny city that can barely support a full-time team itself.
So it's a case by case thing for me, not 'outside money bad, status quo good'.
At the end of the day Brown himself is an investor. What I'm suggesting is that, essentially, a richer or more willing to invest version of Brown would I think be welcome, possibly necessary. Maybe he's set expectations too high as the club has done so well, helped by others struggling, but if he's not careful the legacy that should be a positive one will turn sour.
I don't see it as 'splash the cash' vs 'go the way of Gretna'. The middle ground is a bit more investment to keep us in the chasing pack not at the back of the field.

First, that depends on the ownership. If Brown sells to an ambitious investor it is much more likely.
Secondly, I guarantee that we have a better shot at Europe than any club in the English 2nd division, which was the comparison.
