  1. Just opinions isn't it. Yellow would have been fair IMO and no one would have said that was a clear and obvious wrong decision.
  2. You can pretty much freeze frame or slow motion lots of tackles or player movement and it could look really bad. Seems to be the problem with VAR, doesnt really show the context of what was happening in real time. When VAR was introduced I didn't realise it would be picking over everything like this.
  3. Even though the panel is not just ex referees Im not sure they can keep overturning reds where VAR played a part as it will really make it look an absolute farce.
  4. Yeah dont think they watched the same game when they rate the players. Or are you commenting on the fact that someone Googled stalemate and forgot to take it out. May lowest score out of all our players. Thats some sort of joke. He made their keeper pull off a great save from that header and thought he played well without having many opportunities.
  5. No point appealing the red, I don't think that would get overturned. In real time I thought it was a soft yellow but in fairness we were far away. Watched it back and I can completely accept it was a yellow so the referee got the decision right. Should have been left at that. Why VAR had to get involved is beyond me and issuing a red was wrong. If you play it back slower than real speed it looks worse but football isn't played at that speed. Yeah it looks sore but there was no intent.
  6. Saints have brought a number of good players from the English leagues up to Scotland in the past decade however its finding a striker that can score 10+ goals in our league that seems to be a problem. Quite surprised there is no one worth giving a chance.

    Pitch

If you want to see a pitch, take a look at Manchester City 1 - West Ham 5 1969/70 game. Older members on the forum might be able to tell us if pitches like this were the norm back then. Must have increased the entertainment factor.
  8. Im sure there's ways of doing this to keep season ticket holders happy. It would be interesting to see if they could get a significant increase in the attendance. Would think they could build some sort of additional perk into the season ticket at the start of a season.
  9. My impression was that the £5 Hibs game was successful. I only heard positivity towards it but then I don't read Hibs fan forums. Would season ticket holders really have a big issue with this for the occasional game. If they communicate it properly, explain what they hope to achieve and bring it up in one of the meetings they will surely get a feel for whether or not it's something season ticket holders can get behind. Perhaps they feel that they won't get enough extra Saints fans in seats doing this to make it worthwhile. You can't even give away tickets some times. I do think it would get extra away fans in and its not just £5. They will spend in the food kiosks.
  10. Fair enough. Actually thought the meeting was 7.30. Look forward to reading about it.
  11. There's football on the TV tonight as well, so cant imagine a big turn out for this.
  12. Well yeah this. Just meant that it seems about time we gave some a chance, get them on the bench and get them some minutes. Agree if there is no chance of getting any game time they should be out developing elsewhere.
  13. I'm sure I heard on the radio a while back that the Covid shutdown had caused problems in the progress and the development of young players within many clubs in terms of them being ready to step up. It had basically set them back. I don't know how much there is in that but I agree that we have a massive squad and I'd much rather we have some of our younger players on the bench with an eye on the future and try to get them minutes when they can. At the moment it looks like there is no way in for them.

    VAR

The sequence of events for the red were quite strange and not my understanding of how VAR should work. Was it the referees decision because the big screen seem to suggest it was a VAR decision. Little consolation that the appeal was won other than Clark being allowed to play tonight.
  15. There have been a couple of decisions that went our way where I wasn't convinced it was the right decision. A soft penalty awarded to us springs to mind but it wasn't a clear error in awarding a penalty, soft but often given. Then you look at yesterday and not sure how that was ever a sending off. A game changing decision that was completely wrong. Having VAR should have completed enabled the referee to get that right.
  16. Didn't expect VAR to stop all controversy in Scottish football but it seems to have gotten worse. You expect it to help get game changing decisions right but it's not happening. Even when it's there for everyone to see they are still getting big decisions wrong. As for the handball rule, it needs sorted, what a farce.
  17. Possibly just the freezing cold. Thought he was one of our best players on Saturday and it was a bit rubbish he had to comment on a game where it was chucked away in the first half that he had no involvement in.
  18. This tactic of lumping the ball up to Stevie May to try and out sprint the defenders will only work so many times in games. Too many times it was put so far beyond him it wasn't funny.
  19. Saints made Livi look good today and they really weren't. Poor control, sloppy passing and the inability to get close and stop them shooting let them score 1st, 2nd and 4th against the run of play. With 20 minutes to go, draw or win was entirely possible and then game was thrown away again. We all wanted it to end but how there was only 2 mins extra in first half and 4 in 2nd is beyond me.
  20. Happy Montgomery is back for the rest of the season. Always thought he's played well for us.
  21. Yeah, just saying I hate early kick offs, Sunday games and tea time kick offs which this is. None of them make me want to go.
  22. I wasn't really surprised by most of this, other than the price of a concession. Moved to the Main Stand, no surprise. £30 adult ticket, agree too much, but I don't really find it surprising. Tickets for all sorts of events have gone up loads recently, more than 20% but I guess the difference is that its a big jump compared to a league match. I won't be paying it, whether I could afford it or not, just don't want to pay that to watch a match. You will however get at least 10 extra minutes now for your money with VAR, not always a good thing against the OF. £20 concession ticket, agree that this is far too much. Does anyone think Saints will actually require more than the 300 free children's tickets now in the Main Stand? Rangers fans will lose out more with this. Rubbish kick off time for a game of football, I know it's for the TV but I hate early kick offs, Sunday games and tea time kick offs. Football for me should be 3pm Saturday or a midweek evening after work.
  23. Did Celtic not get the same 3 stands when we played them in the Scottish Cup quarter final in March 2020, just before the first lock down. We lost the only goal of the match in the last 10 minutes or something. I was definitely seated in the Main Stand. Always thought it was rubbish but can't remember there being as much disappointment in this happening.

    Zander

I just glanced at the article but don't think he is joining Hearts, it suggested he may switch to the Scotland National team after playing for England under 21s.
  25. Celtic will not be bothered in the slightest if they have no away fans. Plenty to fill the seats I imagine.
