Gekko got a reaction from Havana Saint in Summer 2025 transfer window
I’m not convinced by this cooperation agreement.
Yes, we’re getting the player for free, and when you’re losing money in the Championship, that’s a good thing. But the problem is exactly what’s happened.
He arrives, gets to know the squad, travels to Dingwall in Saints gear, does interviews saying he’s enthusiastic about the season, and by Monday, he’s back down the road.
It must mess with his head as well.
I’ve no issue with Hearts or McInnes doing this, it’s all within the rules. But it’s not an arrangement I’d imagine we'd want to keep going.
I also don’t like the idea of us being “little” St Johnstone. We’ve won three cups since the last time Hearts did.
We should be seeing them as potential rivals, instead of taking in their fringe players, no matter how talented they might be.
I know we're currently in the league below, but I’d like us to think bigger, and act bigger.
I like the player, not the deal.

Thanks for coming on Matty, and thanks for the updates!
You do realise you'll now be inundated by requests/ideas/demands 😂
Got to say the transparency and openness to ideas and improvements is something we're not used to - long may it continue.

    Hi Graeme,

Adam passed me your feedback and we will have the search functionality in place next week.
In terms of the "Page not found" messages, we are waiting on the previous developer providing us the database and we will restore all previous articles (3000+) next week.

Appreciate your feedback and please keep it coming if there's any more!

Gekko reacted to Graeme S in December 2005 - Where are they now?
I came across an old Hard Drive yesterday with an old photo directory.
One folder just marked "Drew" and it was photos from the 208 Fundraiser that Drew's wife took I think.
So, without further ado.....You will excuse me for not adding names - me being a foreigner, I never socialised with the Perth based fans, so know some faces (Bear, Hazel? Kev Heller and myself were the organising committee) I'm sure you'll be able to identify culprits! Quality isn't great, but it was 20 years ago!

Methinks BH is being overly modest here 😊. I know for a fact that his suggestion/request that ST holders get preference for their own seats found its way to Adam Webb who waved his magic wand and a short time later.....
However, 100% agree that it's a great example of the club listening to the fans and acting on it. Long may it continue
    Thank you Adam Webb.

Really pleased to see the club giving season ticket holders a priority window to reserve their usual seat for the Motherwell cup game. Great example of them listening to fans and doing something about it.

I've encountered this argument many times before.
There are so many stories about somebody wanting gambling websites banned, because their family member lost loads of money using them.
That wasn't the fault of the website, it was the user.
If we ban gambling sites, do we close pubs for the same reason?
Stop alcohol being sold in shops? Ban takeaways?
Get rid of supermarkets because they sell fairly much everything?
If you walk in to a pub, it's up to you whether you buy an alcoholic drink or a soft one. It's nothing to do with the pub.
    It's all up to you.
Also, banning, or limiting something has never worked well in the past.
Prohibition in the USA was only profitable for the bootleggers like Al Capone.
It's all about the choice of the individual.
So the fact that a local gin company has sponsored the player of the match award, doesn't mean that anybody's going to buy the product.
    That's a personal choice.

Simo's apparently in at this time as well. He works twelve hour days. First in, last out type of thing.
I remember a documentary on Alex Ferguson, and he did the same thing.

    It's already a big game.
It would be a huge boost to be that far ahead of the supposed main title rival so early on. Not counting chickens though and all that.
County fans not happy with their performances so far, or the job that Cowie is doing.
Another potential rival in Raith Rovers are apparently giving Cami a trial according to the Courier.
Him and Robson in the same dressing room. That'd be a fun workplace.

Well that was good wasn't it?
I was trying to remember the last time I enjoyed a Saints performance like that, and as others have mentioned, you probably have to go back to the 7-2, maybe Totten's first season in the top league? Sturrock, and early Clark also had some quality attacking performances.
For what seems like ages now, we've been thought of as a stuffy, well organised team. Gets the job done without being spectacular.
I've noticed others mention this as well, and I agree, that yesterday reminded me of a full on Celtic team. As much as they annoy me, I admire the way they keep going at you. That's what we were like.
Simo is using the word relentless all the time and I like that. Keep going no matter what. I doubt that anybody's getting carried away, but that's a very promising start to the season.
All the players seem to adapt well to what the manager wants to do.
Gullan is a great signing. It's amazing to think he arrived from Raith Rovers. He seems like a top level player.
McPake, imagine twelve months ago thinking this is what we'd get from him. We seem to be a club once again that can make players better.
    Sidibeh working hard as always.
Mallan is a top level player and we've done well to sign him up. I'm sure his set piece deliveries and goals will be valuable throughout the season.
McAlear plays like he's been here for years. As others have commented, Livingston must have some midfield to be happy to let him go.
Jason Holt is like a new player. Leading by example and a great choice for captain.
The only concern would be the defence. They're not in any way bad, but they could be better.
Losing the first goal is a habit we need to get out of.
However, that was without Boyes or Mikulic, so we do have quality and depth there.
The big takeaway for me is the change in the way we think. Positive, in control and attacking, rather than the sit back and defend way we've been for the past few years.
For the first time in ages, if we lose a goal, I think we can recover from that.
Also, I thought Thistle were decent enough in the first fifteen to twenty minutes, but we turned the game around.
I was busy at times during the game, and relied on Radio Scotland to give me updates. At one point, when Chick Young was waxing lyrical about our performance, they went to Willie Miller to get his thoughts.
He doesn't like us does he? I'm paraphrasing but his comments were like, "It's all fine doing that in the Championship, but could they play that way in the top league? Playing well is okay if you're in the Premiership but there's no point if you're relegated." He wasn't giving us any credit.
I'm glad we're still getting on people's nerves.

    Dreadful news.
I think it was after the 88/89 season, the players were out in Perth after the last game.
I was working as usual on Saturday, and once I'd finished, I was having a pint in the Auld Hoose, which was round the corner from my old work.
There was a rabble in the corner of the bar making a noise, and I thought "Great, we've got some numpties in tonight".
Checked, and it was of course the first team squad out on their end of season booze up.
Led by a VERY loud Roddy Grant, who was trying to get a group of girls to sing "There's only one Roddy Grant!". They didn't.
Sammy was there, he'd obviously already had a few over his limit. They had a couple of rounds and went off to wherever was next.
Being a young buck, I decided to make a night of it and ended up in Electric Whispers. Unsurprisingly, the squad had managed to find their way there.
Sammy, bless him, by this time was absolutely pie eyed.
He was in good form though, chatting to everybody, laughing, and generally enjoying his night out.
A top man, and also a great underrated player as well.
All the best to him and his family. Hopefully he beats this.

An interesting quote from Simo in The Courier regarding the new captain and last season.
"Yes, this is a fresh start.
But we also need to bring last year’s experiences with us into this season.
We need to remember our past.
It’s important for me to have a captain who was here for the bad moments last year and can smell when things might be happening in a bad way and make sure they stop.
Holty knows that if there are rifts in the dressing room it would be catastrophic like last year.
He can anticipate these potential moments.
We don’t want little groups in the dressing room."
Catastrophic? It seems that the dressing room was far from a happy place Last year.
There were rumours that there were a few problem makers in the squad, but it seems that it was a bigger issue than we realised.
Little groups in the dressing room?
I remember speaking to an assistant manager, not for us, but for one of our competitors this season, who said that that their team had little cliques in it, which eventually caused them to be relegated.
He believed that was the main reason. There was no togetherness in the squad.
    Hopefully that's been sorted out.

Not a surprise that it was happening as such. I'm more surprised that it's been confirmed by somebody in charge in such a public way.
Simo doesn't hold back does he? You have to admire his candour.
Yourself, and many others, had dropped subtle hints as to what had been going on, and who were doing it.
The good news being, that it seems that the majority, if not all of them, are now away from the club.

    I'm surprised by the negativity.
A deal struck with a local business, regardless of whether you like the product, is surely a positive.
I'm not sure what's meant by the clubs past relationship with alcohol that wouldn't appeal.
I thought we did well with The Famous Grouse sponsorship. A well known brand on our shirts.
I'm also not sure that handing somebody a fish at the end of a match is going to catch on.
The fact that a player gets something, with their name on, stating that they were the best person on the pitch, is a huge boost for their confidence.
Personally, gin is not a favourite of mine. In fact, I really don't like it. I'm not keen on whisky either.
But I'm glad we're engaging with local businesses who are getting involved with the club.
