Nah - Champioship this season so it will be McFadden on a Friday night and Derek Ferguson or Chic Young getting onboard the Simo express on a Saturday 😀
Maybe the FCU can oblige with a "Chic - when will you fecking retire?" banner for his first visit?

Did anybody notice yesterday, that at the 83:30 minute of the game, we changed from Premier Sports commentary to our own usual team?
Had they been doing the whole game, but basically to nobody?
It's on the replay as well.

The line up today should be very telling.
It's difficult to predict what it's going to be, because we've no idea who's in Simo's plans and who isn't.
I think we'll start with as close to his preferred starting line up as we can get. Maybe Mallan still on the bench if his registration is through. I don't what the position is with McAlear and whether he's available?
It'll also be interesting to find out if Sinclair is fit enough to be the sub goalie.
Also the style of play he's going to opt for.
Are we going to pass round the back and wear them down? Attempt to dominate midfield and bully them into submission? Or quick, one touch, Klopp style counter attacking (my preferred option)?
One things for sure, we're in a much better place now than we have been at the same time in the last three seasons.
It does feel like the beginning of something today.

Great move. A real quality signing. Potentially a game changer.
Some of his movement, thinking and passing were excellent on Tuesday.
It's been a while since we've had a midfielder of his standard.

Top scorers as well. This was because of the Totten philosophy of "If they score 3, we'll score 4, if they score 4, we'll score 5."
None of this game management nonsense. Get in about them from the start.

Mallan did enough to justify a contract there I'd say.
    Baird likes a back pass.
    Diabate seems decent enough.
I could go on, but it's hard to gauge how well players did in a friendly like this.
Was that Goodwin in Kirk's ear as he went off? He shook hands with everybody else, then had a long chat with him.

In the 80s, especially the early 80s, all the glory hunters went to Aberdeen or Dundee United, mostly Aberdeen in my experience. They were the big 2 at that time.
In terms of the football being better, it's always going to be an opinion but I stand by mine that it was better.
I'm putting in the link to the highlights of the Saints v Rangers game from 1990 I mentioned previously as an example. They don't do justice to the atmosphere. The place was jumping.
I'm not sure the game wasn't as fast then. In fact, I'd argue that possession based football has slowed it down.
But I do agree that the games weren't overcoached as they can be now. The players seemed to have more freedom.
It was more of a scrap then. Meaty challenges, no rolling about if you get studs in the shin. Instead, get up and stick the forehead in the boy who did it.
Imagine if VAR was on the go then. We'd be lucky to get home before midnight.
Anyway, if you want to spend 20 minutes watching Saints getting right in the face of the Souness, superstar Rangers. With Moorie, Maskrey, Roddy, Sergei and many more Saints legends performing at their best, at a packed out McDiarmid, here you go.

There's a lot of talk about needing a wide man.
There was a suggestion a few weeks back that Duke-McKenna would be willing to return and was keen to leave Harrogate. There's not been much since though.
    What about him?
A natural right sided midfielder/winger. He already knows the club, most of the players and manager. So he'd be able to hit the ground running, which is what we need. No need for time to settle in.
He's got speed, runs at defenders and takes a shot when the opportunity arises. I'd imagine he'd do well in this league.
For me, he'd be a good shout.

You could get a terracing season ticket at Muirton, my first Season ticket was the last season there although I d been going regularly for the two years before.
I then didn’t have a Season ticket the first year at McDiarmid, can’t remember why not as was there most weeks, then had an Ormond Stand season ticket for 2/3 years.
I was working away from area for a year so again didn’t have a Season ticket for a year before buying one in the East Stand.
Had one ever since so think last year was my 30 th year.
See a lot of people saying the football was better, I not sure it was, for me though it was definitely all new and more exciting.
Saints were bottom league when I started going so got to see almost every team as we went up the leagues, leagues were bigger as well so not the same teams all the time. The fixtures this year look depressing with just 9 other teams to play, Queens Park, Arbroath, Morton etc 4 times.
While it was fun to watch, players like Sammy Johnston, Don McVicar, Gary Thompson, these guys spent most of their careers part time. If they were around now they d have to be a lot fitter to be playing. There are possibly more clubs full time now to give them that opportunity though.
The football wasn’t as fast as it is now and tactics and coaching weren’t as heavily used. When I go to watch a Jeanfield Swifts game now it feels much more like the game I first fell in love with.
On Blueheaven s point, what Saints have done over the last 30 years is stop Perth kids supporting Dundee Utd and Aberdeen ( Celtic & Rangers will never go away sadly ), there were probably more Dundee Utd and Aberdeen fans then Old Firm when I went to School.

I was an Ormond Stander in those early McDiarmid days too. Was just a kid at the time and didn't have a season ticket, but went to most home games and I think I had a season ticket by about '92 or '93.
My memory is of the Ormond Stand always being packed in those days, as it wasn't segregated so you had families supporting both teams all mixed in there.
I never went to Muirton Park but was taken to McDiarmid right from the start and immediately got the bug (having previously had no interest in football at all). I can remember there being a big buzz in the school playground about the new stadium and at the time it felt like everyone my age was going to games. Kids who had always knocked about in Rangers and Celtic tops (or even Aberdeen and Dundee United tops - a very 80s concept) suddenly started going to Saints games. Most probably only went a few times before drifting away again but I've always thought there must be quite a few Saints fans of my generation who basically started going to games as a direct result of McDiarmid being built.

The last season at Muirton, there was only the South stand open.
The Centre and North stands were closed.
I presume that was why there were only 200.
Saints were only part time for the first season at McDiarmid. They turned back to full time in 90/91, the first season back in the Premier.
I can't talk about the first season and season ticket availability, because I couldn't make the games as I was working on a Saturday.
However, I could the following season, 90/91 again, and I definitely bought a season ticket for the Ormond. I think it was round about £140.
That was where I got to experience some of the famous games.
5-0 v Aberdeen, 0-0 v Rangers, I'm sure that was the one when Aggie fell out with Souness, the other Rangers game when Alex Totten and Walter Smith fell out in the tunnel, were then marched out of the stadium by the police and missed the second half.
At that time, the whole ground was always busy. But those were different times, without all the distractions people have these days.
Most people only had four TV channels, the radio, the newspaper and that was it.
So going to the football was a big part of the week.
And you have to be honest, the football was better, much better.
