  1. A fantastic last job for the club Geoff. You have been Mr St Johnstone for the last 20-odd years - and you saved our club from oblivion. We will always be indebted to you for everything. Thanks for everything
  2. Great appointment Geoff - and a huge welcome to Saints Steve. You will have our 100% backing. Trully excited by this - but really sad to see Geoff stand down.
  3. Couldn't agree more. Linking the post to a community role is 100% correct. I trust them to get the right guy. Whoever is appointed will have my full support. I'm excited by the Lomas possibility (because if his potential contacts) though he'll need someone close with Scottish League knowledge (Clelland?). That sad, the likes if Sheerin, Weir (D!) and Dasovic also excite me. But if Geoff pulls out someone else - I will trust his judgement. COYS Jim
  4. I'd forgotten about him - couldn't agree more. Think I got the belt from him on several occasions for no good reason other than I was crap on the bloody horse!!
  5. Just want to echo the thoughts of most of us on here. We're generally gutted that Del and Doc have gone - but it was a no-brainer for them and I certainly wish them all the very best at BCFC and thank them sincerely for the brilliant job they have done in Perth. Also, I think the respect to each other on our and the BCFC forums has shown how real football fans behave and feel about the game. Compare this with the sectarian bile and crap we have to put up with in our newspapers and radio shows on a daily basis from the Bigot Brothers in Glasgow. Hopefully both of our clubs can progress from our current positions (I'd suggest this would be more of a challenge for the Saintees as we're clearly punching way above our weight in the SPL). Good luck to BRistol City on Sunday - will be looking out for your result - and hopefully basking in the delights of a triumph the day before at Tannadump, Scumdee. Saintees 'til I die Jim
  6. I had a conversation with Luggy on FaceBook the other night and asked if he might be tempted back to Perth with Del on his way. Rest easy Matt1, his response 'I have a job to finish here so no'. He was going on though about how much he loved his time at Saints and his total respect for Geoff Brown. Described us as one of the best run clubs in Britain
  7. Brilliant Ghostie - the post of the week!!!!
  8. Couldn't have summarised it better myself Ghostie - precisely my opinion. Well done Del (again!)
  9. First big SPL shock of the season - Sellic 1 - Saints 2. Dunjno why I think it'll happend, but I feel it in my bones. COYS PS - goals from Muzz and Sandaza
  10. Over rated (by himself) = Darren Jackson Underrated = Jim M orton - a truly cultured midfield player
  11. Keep up the good work Fraser - you're doing a fine job. You need to do a McCredie - but rather than a mug, get some mention of Saints, no matter how tenuous, each night. So far, I'd say you've managed it just about every time. Good Job Agent Thompson - the takeover of the media by St Johnstone folk continues......
  12. Couldn't agree more. Yes - he did have a poor game on saturday - but for chrissake, give him (and everyone else) a chance! I do feel that Del has put together a really strong looking squad this year. With the addition of a winger - and a bit of time for everyone to gel properly - we'll be better than last season - and comfortably mid-table at worst. Keep the faith - COYS!
  13. Full marks to the Club on both counts. I bought the magazine and the programme on saturday and here are my views - for what they're worth: Magazine: excellent quality of production and lots of reading. Much more potential than the old programme to go truly in-depth on an article - and the design is superb. A lot of reading. I used to buy the occasionally-produced St Johnstone Historian. This was more like a fanzine but Paul Smith was behind it as well. It had excellent articles - and it's great to see Paul using the new magazine to provide similar types of historical content alongside contemporary articles relevant to the current team. Well worth the £3.95 asking price - I'll certainly happily pay that every quarter. Programme - a very pleasant surprise. Wasn't expecting half as much content for £1 - excellent value for money that will hopefully get us some good PR. I'm sure visiting fans will be impressed as they get as much content about their own team as in last year's programme. The combination of the two publications puts us way ahead of the rest of the SPL in terms of listening to fans and giving good quality products at a decent price. Well done Paul Smith and everyone else behind this initiative. Jim
  14. OK, as a Saintee I'm naturally biased....but I reckon Fraser's doing an excellent job on the Football Phone In. A hundred times better than that numpty-of-numpties Ewen Cameron, and Fraser is also a true Scottish football fan - unlike his predecessor, scouser Mark Bensted, who other than a fair knowledge of what Rangers, Sellic and Hertz are doing, knows hee-haw about Scottish football. All power to Fraser and Stuart - it's fantastic to have Saints fans in positions where they can regularly remind their audiences that there is lots of life outside the Old Firm - and that supporting Saints is the ONLY way! And - their both bloody good at their jobs too Jim
  15. Me too - best ever match that I attended in 35 years of attending Saints games home and away. What a performance that day. I'll also never forget what was a very young (and much slimmer) Charlie Mann that day reporting on the game for Radio Scotland. He was full of superlatives and predicted that 1st Division Saints would beat Rangers in their forthcoming Scottish Cup Tie at Ibrox. Didn't happen of course - but THAT is how good we were that day. Jim
  16. I honestly think our luck will turn in this one - and we'll win. I can see 2-0 Saints already.........
  17. Brilliant news for Muzz and or Saints. Very very proud Jim
  18. Charlie King 'ups the ante' in the Courier today - and why not? But it would be good to put them in their place and remind him why they are in Division Two and we're in the SPL.... "The boys are well up for it and I've been to watch St Johnstone a couple of times recently and there's not a lot to be scared of. We should certainly give it a bash. "I've been joking with the lads that I want to lead the team out in the semi-final."
  19. How many did they keep in the end? Saints will obviously have the new stand - and along in front of the hedge. Which other parts of the ground however? I am assuming Brechin will have the covered enclosure - and they'll have some season ticket holders in their main stand. Whatever - sure to be a brilliant atmosphere - like the 'old days' in terms of Scottish Cup excitement. COYS! Jim
  20. Yes - they bothered their arses to announce it officially at 1124. Almost half an hour after others were quoting it was definitely off. They say it was a quick decision - why oh why wait until now for the pitch inspection then?
  21. What a farce Saints - late call off - club deserves all the criticism that you're going to get for this. Why wait until 1115? And STILL not confirmed on website - joke
  22. My prediction is a bit higher - think the Pig n' Whistle might bring 5 or 600 - 1,965 Jim
  23. The thought of the Jambos winning the league is a) TBH unthinkable and impossible; and not a nice thought. They are (almost) as bad as the Bigot Brothers. Their fans are (generally) as bad as Rangers fans, and working in Edinburgh, what a nightmare. If TFOD or TFOE win the league - so what - doesn't affect me one way or another - hate them both. If Hertz win the league, we'll never hear the end of it. Altogether now....All Jambos are Gay
  24. Good post Mr Pink. Some people really need to get a sense of perspective. In Del We Trust
