These guys have the chance to massively increase their salaries, whilst potentially winning trophies and playing in Europe. Do you really expect them to turn that down?
No footballer with any confidence in their own ability is ever going to say "Nah, I'm not going to accept that because they just want me to sit on the bench every week." They'll go into it with the attitude that it's worth taking the chance that if they do well they'll get into the team.
I seriously wonder what some fans expect of footballers sometimes.

Unfortunately not. You have to submit designs, sponsors and colours etc to league at start of season and cannot change. Obviously, in the current times, I'm sure those rules could bend a bit.
I get the arguments from some that doesnt matter what strips we wear etc, however, it is another revenue stream for the club and it always amazes me how unprepared we are each season. Kit should be out before holidays and would sell more if it was. Again, Covid-19 likely to have an impact this year, but given we have the same manufacturer and sponsor, could have been sorted out long ago. In fact, probably an easy task when someone working from home.
Generally clubs possibly missing a trick here. Either get a kit out early and market it as helping the club etc OR, stick with the same kit and make a play on understanding finances are tight and giving fans value for money on getting 2 seasons out of a kit.
Finally, if club does have dead stock of old kit and training tops etc, like we always do, give it away for free to renewing season ticket holders or set up a strip bank, where folk can collect stuff for free or a small donation to the youth fund. Better still, get them in a pack for each if the new houses being built all over perth, with a free Saints season ticket or saints tv included.

Love the way we roll! The support are up in arms about the May deal collapsing so we'll give them a lift by announcing Vihmann only to shatter them again with the news that Clarks new deal isn't forthcoming.
The life of a Saints fan!

    Absolute pish!!
He has had a tough couple of years but he is streets ahead of what we have at the moment or what we could afford if not for the “Saints connection”.
If you honestly think there are many(any) strikers who can score goals at this level queuing up for £1800 a week  then you’re deluded.
We should be grateful that we are even in the running to bring someone as capable as Stevie May to our club.

Jesus! You now can’t see my point or Widge’s. Not sure that a forum or football for that matter is for you. Do you actually have a point yourself or are you intent on trying to start an argument!? Also stickers? Sounds like something you’d find on the list of Rangers creditors beside the face painter. It’s strikers we need!

Re Stevie May, if he signs, I'd rather a permanent move. If on loan, then if does well, then either Aberdeen will want him back or someone else will come in for him. At the moment, his stock is low, so we'd have little real competition for a permanent deal. I think he is worth a fee to be spent on, but have concerns that Saints will actually shell out anything.
I think Tommy would get the best out of him and if he (May), genuinely thinks that himself, he'd come back. However, the alternative for him is that if it doesn't work out back here, then what kind of future does he have?
I have a gut feel he might either a) want only a loan himself so he has the fall back of the remaining 2 years on good wage at aberdeen (or pay off) or b) try his luck elsewhere, with the thought in his mind that while Tommy is at Saints, he will likely have another opportunity here.
Even if it wasnt for him being here before, I'd still say he is exactly the type of player Tommy likes, talented, but for whatever reason, lost his way a bit.
Of course, if he does sign, then likely blows a hole in the budget, so does that have knock on effects for other targets or new contracts? Say May gets 3k, does Kennedy ask for that or MOH, Zander etc?

That we need to sign a striker and if we let McMillan go, it’ll need to increase to 2. Also that they should score more than last seasons pool.
If you’re going to make sarcastic comments, at least read what’s written before diving in with both feet and looking like a bit of a fool. Cause it appears everyone else understands the point.

He signed in a new contract in April or May and was told to find a new club in August. He featured in pretty much all the pre-season games and started away in Trakai, although he did drop from sight prior to signing his last deal with us the season before.
With regards to his pay cut, he wasn't the only one offered such terms. Scobbie turned his (a 35% cut) down and I'm sure I read previously that Mannus took a pay cut too. I suppose a combination of limited availability/lack of game time and general diminishing returns from all 3 contributed to that.

As has been said, he accepted a massively reduced contract. Club obviously decided that he was worth peanuts rather then just releasing him.

Seriously, so what? Murray Davidson did something very similar. And Liam Craig, too. To hold it against a person (years after it happened) just because they actually considered moving to a different employer because it felt like it might be right for them at the time is just petty in the extreme. Do you think that people play for Saints because it's their childhood dream?
Chris Millar has been a fantastic footballer for Saints and has contributed a huge amount to our most successful ever team. That's good enough for me.

I started the thread because I am a bit disillusioned with the person concerned. No agendas here. I actually like a lot of what goes on at Saints but just feel it could be so much better.  Is there a problem with asking people on a Saints forum a Saints related question?

I think speculation with a hint of realism is required here and I hope that now with the circus of deadline day being over we have maybe gained some.
As was mentioned his release was only really public at half 8 last night meaning that he was then free to discuss terms with other clubs. He was set to play for their u21's until he was pulled out early afternoon. We are a club of limited resources so I imagine he was making his own way up for talks in the absence of a private jet or helicopter.
Overall expecting it to be done last night was probably both unrealistic and unnecessary.

Couple of players on both sides tonight look handy. Like the look of Sibbald and Vaulks of Falkirk and Reilly and McShane of Queens. Should definitely be looking at the lowers leagues going by a few that have moved up and done very well.

Being a Saints and Liverpool fan I'm glad to see Adam Morgan joining Saints and have watched a fair bit of him. In his teens he was a brilliant striker and scored consistantly through all ages groups. Unfortunately after that praise from Fowler and the weight of expectation he didn't seem able to make the step up. Played against Hearts from the bench a couple of years ago in the Europa League and again failed to impress. Hasn't worked out at Yeovil but I genuinely think he could do some damage in the SPFL and I really hope he does well.

Again, nobody is talking about buying £10million players....show me where they are?

Everyone appreciates the way the club has been managed. Nobody is talking about trying to buy a team to win the title.

Funny how people can ignore certain things and invent others to suit their point.

I probably do it too by the way
