  1. This is the season he has to show that he merits a place in the first team, takes his opportunities and hopefully blossoms.
  2. Macca quoted in the Daily H*n today saying his ankle is showing no improvement and will see another specialist on Friday Also Nicky C going for another scan this week Time to loosen the purse strings
  3. I cant honestly remember feeling that our team is as vulnerable as this at the start of a seson. Macca said the club strategy relied on progress in this cup and the best way to ensure that was with four victories. unfortunately that translated into three disasters and beating a wpoeful Alloa who lost 0_6 yesterday. In the immediate future we must bring in at least 3 players who will improve our impoverished squad and Macca must be made very aware that substantial and speedy improvement is a requirement for him to remain in post. We are shipping awful goals inc. far too many headers, having very patchy control in midfield and firing far too many blanks upfront. I may have to watch v Hearts through my fingers but at least I shall be anaethsetised after my hospitality lunch ! Hope Im wrong but this form is relegation or resignation.
  4. Would love to see Tommy back, if he fancies it. Otherwise nobody jumping out at me. Think Macca could be part of the problem rather than the solution....cant think of many clubs that have had so many strikers on their books that are allergic to scoring on a semi regular basis.
  5. Very happy to hear that. Solid dependable defender, who likes to clear his lines
  6. So sorry to hear this sad news. Alex was a proper gentleman and a Saints fan through and through. He was chairman in our tough times and he did his best despite not being a chairman with a large personal fortune as is the norm nowadays.. Condolences to his family RIP
  7. Very sad to record the death of Jimmy O Rourke. He was an excellent player here and a model professional. Away from the pitch I was delighted to call him friend. A proper old school gentleman with a wicked sense of humour. RIP
  8. I have definitely gone from glass half empty to half full. There seems to be an excellent team spirit amongst the players. I think Remi has exceeded my expectations,Considine has been pretty solid, Clark has impressed and encouraged the rejuvenated Mayso but red card apart I just love the attitude and ability of Mitchell . Callum was kept on last season and he has responded this season.
  9. Weve had the friendlies, the bounce games, the normal pre season training and a trip to Spain for warm weather training and still the team look like they just met in the carpark. First game in was embarassing and penalties not much better SO.. Surely there would be an improvement in game two, but apparently not, Im no Pep Guardiola but surely penalty practice should have been high on the agenda...goalie saved NIL and our takers managed TWO . Callum and his staff MUST be under severe scrutiny. Unless we improve greatly and quickly then its difficult to see this ending in a good way. Lets score a few keep some clean sheets and get the final pieces in the squad done immediately.
  10. Sorry not on PC in general much health has been poor but what a tonic our wee team has been.Just watched it in the house..cheers
  11. I have never cared about the religion of any of our players in 57 years of supporting the team, If they want to be here and try their best thats all I ask ( right now a few goals would be good )
  12. Lets hope we raise our game v Celtic and dont take a humping as we all know what the first game last season did to us. I think training this week must be about defending set pieces and trying some different things with the strikers to get their heads up. Think our club is hamstrung by finance but we are not alone.CD must try and play to our strengths ( however he sees them) but zero goals is a surefire recipe for disaster. We live in hope COYS
  13. Have to agree. When he arrived I was so happy that we were getting a box to box midfielder with a fantastic " engine " that chipped in a few goals. Sadly Jason for several reasons just didnt have that kind of spell here
  14. Two early games on SKY Aberdeen 12;;30 and Hibs 16:30 ( Sunday)
  15. During the shutdown I would like to highlight what Gavin Price is doing.Once on our books 1997 now Elgin manager, many will know him as manager at Kinnoul and Jeanfield. In Aberfeldy where he is a prominent publican he has founded FeldyRoo and has a willing band of volunteers. They provide a service to almost one hundred vulnerable people in the town and district by delivering for free EVERY day a morning paper, soup and a roll mid morning, then a home cooked meal at teatime. Many local businesses are also providing food, time. and transport. You can check out their FB page and I think you will be impressed. Many of the football family are doing their bit and it is to be applauded
  16. I really cant see any other option at present than to forget 19/20 ever existed. The TV people may moan but with all sport cancelled they are not in a position of strength IMHO. It is hugely unsatisfactory I know, but even if isolation rules are lifted partially (or even fully) by say July, you couldnt just whistle the guys back in and start at the drop of a hat. Many players going out of contract in May,many clubs under huge pressure.Lets just say its a scenario like no other ever experienced and take it on the chin.
  17. Excellent article about a player who really helped our club when it needed it most. Good man Jody
  18. If we play with the spirit shown at Easter road with an enhanced squad then we can prevail. We need someone on Boyle the whole game as his pace and crosses are a large part of their game. Momentum is in our favour , just need a solid performance.Would start MoH as they always leave space in behind.
  19. St Mirren playing quite well but we should have enough for three points. Hopefully we will use the squad as these three games can make our season
  20. If we cut out the mistakes we have enough in our locker to give them a run for their money
  21. I like many were sad at losing Muirton at the time and could only remember the good times but looking back it was in a hell of a state and the club was skint.Following Bradford, the wooden infrastructure was outdated and dangerous and even our much vaunted turf ( the largest area in UK at the time) had started to show some signs of neglect. The new ground was all shiny ,all seated, and very well filled. One innovation that was widely copied was showing live pictures of the match in refreshment kiosks to encourage people to not all rush at once.Whilst we never quite replicated Muirtons atmosphere it definitely was a huge step forward for the club.It also incorporates off field revenue streams that help the clubs finances. Would love to see another couple of thousand regulars but I suppose like me,old age and poor health are factors.Muirton still holds great memories but McD is now our home.
  22. £25 Adults ...£15 concessions on website now..sorry cant do link thing !
  23. Very sad to see he has broken his leg while on loan at our neighbours. Speedy recovery
