  1. All my life, but 27 years since first game. Why?
  2. Total nonsense. How did we survive for 7 years in 1st div without them? Might have been the case if we got 10k v them still, but it is just 5k ish v c3k without. The argument could be that you would loose 4 games by only having 18 teams vs current. Although, to counter that, the lost gate receipts would account for maybe 2-3 less players, that we wouldn't really need due to less games and therefore smaller squad required.
  3. I'd imagine ( or hope) that you could only sell a season ticket up until the split? The only way around it would be to offer 3 packages. One, which would be a full season ticket, at a price which would reflective of 22 top their games and the rest at a slightly reduced rate per game to reflect the risk. One which is just first 22 and a 3rd option which is a full, but with an opt out, with a refund which would be slightly punitive after the first 22. First option would reward loyal fans if we get top 8. 2nd would suit many and 3rd, would force fans to opt out, but give them the choice. I think, that until all the facts are laid out for fans, few can make a clear decision on what they would prefer. My issue is that I have heard so much on the plans, but nothing that is very clear or well thought through. Doncaster avoids all direct questions and the silence from saints is deafening. We are talking about 5 months until the new season starts and no one has a clue about what is going in. By the time votes etc are made and structure clearly set up, this season will be done. Clubs are already planning for next when they don't know the set up.
  4. What do saints actually want from reconstruction in scotland? Do we want the better redistribution model, given we are traditionally a yo-yo club? Is the 8-8-8 split good for saints as we would expect more often than not to be in the top 8? Or, do we benefit more (as a club) in the current set up? I.e unlikely to be relegated and decent share of income vs attendances? Obviously, this is from a club point of view. As a fan, all I want is to play same teams less and keep the competitive league.
  5. I imagine that the future of the club really now depends on the fans. There is no bank debt as such and hmrc aren't really due that much. Assuming that the administrator has cut their cloth, then any extra funds generated by the fans will be used the save the club. I'd imagine that being the case, getting together a couple of hundred thousand over and above gate receipts etc, shouldn't prove too difficult. There core support is similar to ours, 2-3k. £100 each from those fans and or a couple of local businessmen stepping up should see them ok. Always puzzles me that if an administrator can come in and get a club cutting its cloth within days, why can't owners do that all the time? Yes, they can release players, but clubs don't need to sign so many in the first place!!
  6. The premiership IS over rated on the pitch. I have watched some horrific games on TV from down there. However, what makes it is the hype. Generally full (looking) houses for most teams. The SPL on the other hand is UNDER rated. Yes, there is some utter dross (dundee at hone sticking out) but there is some bright skillfull young players and plenty of competition all over the place. Lennon has been lucky that his time as celtic manager has coincided with the poorest rangers side and manager ever and a weakened SPL. I don't think that the other clubs are that far behind on the pitch than we are led to believe. Difference is that they can buy in players like no one else can. However in a week, where we have the 6th different team winning the last 6 national cups, all the media now care about is OF colts and greens rants. The media forever downplay Scottish football.

Sad news that Dunfermline look like they are going to the wall. Feel really sorry for their fans. Club much like ourselves. Those who brought this about should be utterly ashamed. Great memories of games v them. The 3-0 early 90's with saints best ever keeper.;-) cup semi v utd at east end park etc Hope they can somehow find a way out of this mess, but looks unlikely. :-(
  8. In theory, if they left for England they cod then win both the Scottish and English leagues and cups!! Would be a massive mistake. Plus all that would happen is that the top 20 European teams would all play in say, the Andorran league and everyone else would be left behind.
  9. I think that a few weeks ago, they announced that it was only a couple of hundred thousand, which is pretty much nothing for them, less than 1 home gate. Just think that in footballing terms, (excluding hearts) the debts in spl aren't that bad. A decent player sale would take big chunks out of clubs debt like utd have had with goodwillie.
  10. How much debt are each of the spl clubs in? Looking at it, I think only hibs, hearts, aberdeen, utd and killie have debt, with utds being relatively small.
  11. No, I used to quite like that when we come out, now it just sounds mince. Need something more upbeat. For a goal, I'd have a different song for each player. Something Dutch for Nigel, something French for Tade. Maybe even the trainspotting time for Liam as a joke. Or we take the piss out of ourselves and go for 'I've got a brand new combine harvester...' ;-)
  12. Fantastic move and cracking strip. Good to hear club listening to fans. Also good to see club proactively promoting the strips very early on to get up the interest. Well done all round. Just make sure they are ready to buy early in the summer and club will do well out of this.
  13. Maybe it is just me, but that doesn't seem like too many given the size of those clubs and the size of perth! I like many, think a shop in town would be the way forward. Might not make a profit in its own right, but would be a constant reminder and base to sell tickets from.
  14. I'm not saying we should do nothing, but boycotting wouldn't work, it never does. It is not like the wwe, it is not pre scripted. You play the 11 players in front of you, not a balance sheet. If rangers had bribed refs then is take your point. If saints and the spl clubs had wanted doncaster etc gone, then he'd be gone. I think it will happen in the summer, but again, everyone needs to concentrate on making Scottish football better, not ripping it apart. Rangers will never get away with it again. They and everyone else are under the microscope now. They are irreversibly weakened and tarnished.
  15. To be honest, I don't think I really care that much anymore. I'd have been happy if rangers and their fans had shown some humility and just held up their hands, they didn't ,but I didn't expect any more. We can all grump and moan for years to come (and will do) but rangers fans will always take one view and the rest another. I didn't start following saints for anything other than football and that is still the case. Scottish football needs to move on regardless, but I don't think that will happen any time soon. The sfa and spl aren't corrupt, they just look after the interests of their 'shareholders' and it matters little what fans really think to them. That is not corruption as such, it is just the way they do it. Totally disregarding the fact that without the fans there is no game. Scottish football will change and it has to, however it will not be quick in coming and there will be plenty more twists to come. Boycotting games will make little difference now. Yes it would have been right to do so if rangers got straight into spl. But what would you realistically expect to achieve? Lets just move on please.
  16. I actually disagree with you there. Yes there are OF fans in perth, but how many actually leave perth each weekend to go and watch them? I'd imagine not much more than leave to support other spl teams, dundee, utd etc. The ones who are OF fans but never go, will never come and support saints. I think a bigger footballing distraction (ignoring other non footballing things like cinema etc) is sky and the premiership. The days of Rangers and Celtic picking up glory hunting kids is pretty much over. They instead support Man U, Chelsea, man city, barca etc. These kids we CAN encourage to support saints aswell more than the OF brainwashed ones, but the club needs to make it EASY for them to go along to McD.
  17. To the tune of madness: "Our house, we all know who owns our deeds" "Our house, no one likes you in dundee" Etc etc etc
  18. Not for so many years have saints had the opportunity to have a right old laugh at the expense of both dundee and their manager. Any thoughts on songs for the occasion? "Where's your rangers gone?" Being an obvious one. Any others?
  19. Ssshhh! No one is meant to know. ;-) Could we not take an advert out in oppositions programme the week before? Can't imagine it would cost much and you could have a wee bit of fun with it, eg parking for tractors only £5 or for utd fans free parking for camels etc. could put on prices, train time and directions etc. Other teams could do the same. For example, I wouldn't mind st mirren advertising a game v us at their place in our programme.
  20. Wasn't there, but was listening to open all mics on the radio and they commented on how poor his warm up was!
  21. Was wondering that. Club have missed a trick here. Schools are off in perth the next day, so more kids than normal for a mid week game could go, but I can't see anywhere if the £15 adult and kid deal is valid or not. Poor show saints. I know we have Facebook and twitter feeds etc, but those following on those are most likely to be going anyway. Club is shocking at attracting 'neutrals' or part timers.
  22. Any idea when that will open or the other one be built? All gone quiet.
  23. Totally agree. Would rather 11 home grown players. Don't think we need so many 'senior' pros. In an ideal world, we'd have 14ish senior players and rest youth players.
  24. I don't disagree. I think that saints should never have given cb a contract. They are also to blame. However, if they don't spend, clubs end up like dundee at the bottom. It will take a collective approach for clubs to say enough is enough and lower wages and in turn hopefully prices across the board. One club along cannot make that stand.
  25. I agree that it alone won't encourage more fans to game, but would help as part of a wider push. Not that this would make saints loads, but say a couple of hundred pints sold each game plus crisps and extra pies etc might bring in an extra few quid. A driver might not have a pint, but his mates might. Better saints made the profit than an external pub.
