To be fair, it was Steve Brown himself that said that focus had been on restructuring etc.
No harm in Saints taking the time. I suspect it's been known by Saints and the new manager for quite a while what the plan was. Equally, players will have been identified by current coaches and new manager.

I fully expect Davidson to be the new manager and will be appointed in the first week back at training w/c 22nd June.
Wouldn't expect material changes in terms of coaching structure beneath him either

Given the extra money from a 6th placed finish and having virtually zero wages outgoing, Saints might be in a position to be relatively 'generous' with short term contracts on the provision that players understand they will be freed. Upside is it's the right thing to do, but also breeds good squad unity at a time we need as much of that as we can get. Would be zero cost to saints, but potentially big gains.
The likes of Anderson deserve more from Saints than just being let go at the end of his contract, when there is no realistic possibility of getting a deal elsewhere at the moment.
We messed up years ago with Alan Fergusson, let's not be dicks again.

From what I have seen over the last few bits from Steve Brown, he has not said one positive thing.
It's very clear he doesnt want to do it anymore, but if hes looking for someone to take it on from him, he is doing to worst possible job of encouraging someone in.
As a season ticket holder, nothing he says makes me want to renew and is actually putting me off.
What he says about trying everything to get crowds in misses the point. He should be asking the fans that used to go and dont now why it is.
The post cup win inaction will forever be a big fail.
I'm not sure who his speak to or what purpose when he does these interviews, but everytime it ends up being a total car crash.
From once being such a forward thinking an innovative club we are now way behind the curve and I dont see much being done to address that.
Finally, where is Kirsteen in all of this, why is she not the one speaking. At hibs and Motherwell you always hear/see Dempster and Burrows.

    Pretty much exactly my thoughts.
Dont think Brown has out in much and while he does a lot of work at the club, you could argue that it is protecting his inheritance. Free hospitality and travel to away games is a nice perk. Dont begrudge that at all.
Have to ask why he did the interview at all? Why did the chief exec not do it? Still really to hear from her aside from a single interview with the daily record, which I suspect very few saints fans actually read.
It felt like he threw her and Tommy under the bus a bit. Not sure of his intentions, bit I'd didn't help Tommy, kirsteen or the fans.

Is it not the case that the Browns have zero invested in Saints? As people have said before Geoff helped out with the Billy Dodds transfer and apart from the initial take over hasn't put any money into the club apart from maybe the more recent sponsorship.
We are a self sufficient club as per the way Geoff designed it.
I don't see anything too outrageous in the interview but he is a very glum guy. I feel some of the comments about 'going for it' could have been retained as his own thoughts.

Couldn't agree more. McCann is a proper footballer. Plenty of ability, but loads of grit too. The way he chased the ball down near the corner in the 2nd half was great to see. Good hunger.
Hendry is really taking his chances in the team now. Very mature performance as the loan striker tonight. Still no idea how he won so many headers off much taller defenders.
Like McCann, you can see improvement week on week. Long may that continue.
Both seem to have a good attitude too. While McCann did well on loan at Stranrear, it didn't really work at Brechin for Hendry. Testiment to both how they used different loan experiences to their advantage.

Can I throw another ticketing scenario into the mix. Give Celtic the original away allocation plus the east and half of the ormond. That would give saints c3k seats, but over 2 stands
Then, as a sweetener to the saints fans, announce that the extra dosh is used to put safe standing in the yellow section at the north end of the east stand. At c£80 per seat, that would cost c£50k, which would be more than covered by the extra income from this game.
    Win-win.

Exactly this. Take the money and move on.
Pains me to see them sitting in my seat, but so long as we use the money on the squad, I can just about stomach it.
As you say, may be the difference from getting in McCart now vs the summer.

Its on the official site. Trialled for the TFOD and TFOE cames coming up. Season ticket holders in East/Ormond to get sections of  "unallocated seating" in the main stand.
I've not got a problem with this but I do have an issue with the way its being handled - unallocated seating could lead to a mess on the night (ie take your kids but if you turn up late no guarantee you'll be sitting together). Also due to the corporate seats etc the E Stand ticket holders that have decent seats at the halfway line might be punted to one end or another.
If the club are intent on doing this surely common sense would be to allow season ticket holders to get tickets/vouchers for seats in the main stand ahead of the game on the night.

All positive, but the cynic in me would suggest that would he say anything other than this if asked.
Slight concern and surprise that the club haven't already spoken to him though.

While we need some experience at the back, I'd like to see us look around other teams to see if there is some if the next gen of saints players we can pick up.
You just need to look at the £50k we spent on the 2 best players of the last decade to see when we can get for relatively little outlay.
Halket at Hearts might be available if the new manager doesnt fancy him.

I actually think it would be worse than that. Based on our core support, we are on par with Raith and Ayr.
What has set us apart from our peers is the solid financial based that McD gave us. The advantage that gave us is waining so as SLF said, club needs a restructure the stay one step ahead.
Where in any other era the 'success' we have had would have meant increased core support, that has not been the case.
Club needs to show the same innovative approach shown by Brown snr, Campbell, etc, which has been sadly lacking for quite some time.
To put into context, the move to a new all seater stadium in late 80's would only be comparable to building an indoor stadium now. Do we think this board are capable of thinking that innovatevly? I don't. Not say that is what we do, but we need that kind of thinking to keep the club ahead of the curve.

Just watched the start of the game on saints tv and I cannot understand why we persist with Jason Kerr. He lost us the game in the second minute with that slip that surely any other CH in the league would have dealt with. Hibs got a lift and never looked back. Clark also needs dropped as he keeps pushing shots out not to the side where there is a chance it would be safer.
If the big Estonian or Booth cannot get in our defence at the moment they never will and if not why waste money signing them.

    My two cents worth:
I found that display very worrying- not because I couldn't see any positives, but rather because the team on the whole looked extremely naive and it's effecting the decision making both front and back.
Holt looks just the player we've needed, Ralston is an obvious improvement on Duffy, May looks sharp enough, McCann looks like he's ready to play regularly and yet I came away worried because we are unable to do the basics of the game and at times under no pressure we were choosing the wrong options or simply playing very slack football.
Kerr was miles behind his previous performances last season. Some of his passing was dreadful and there's no excuse now when in both Holt and McCann we have two players looking to get on the ball. Gordon (who I've championed before) wasn't much better and looked flat footed on more than one occasion. I thought Tanser was bullied at points and all four of the back four would make very naive decisions.
Whilst it's great to see Wright back and he's bound to be rusty, he was very slack with some of his passing. The whole midfield worked hard, but there was little creativity. Everything felt forced and the link up play just want there. Just have to hope it comes with time together.
What really annoyed me is that is was clear Motherwell wanted to make the game disjointed in the second half and disrupted play with several "falling over moments" and yet time and time again our players seemed to make it easy for them to go down by barging into the back of them, etc rather than just applying pressure and trying to force mistakes... It simply allowed Motherwell to keep taking the flow out the game. They managed the game in the second half very well.
The next four games are vital- no doubt about that.

I'd go with this line up, but with Kennedy on the right and MOH just off May.
I actually don't think we were too bad on Sunday, so with the addition of Holt, fairly confident of a positive result from this game. Only concern for me is the weekish defence. Would do them the world of good to have a clean sheet. Clark in particular looks off his best this season.

Absolutely not. If the club was struggling financially, then makes sense to do something like the foundation of hearts, but given the cash reserves and financial stability at the club, then fans paying a players wage directly like this would feel wrong to me.
If you want to raise funds, how about charging directors admission to the games? 18 home games with hospitality would be best part of £2k each director. Then add on the free travel to away games..... these guys probably get the best part of £4-5k in freebies out of saints each year (taking I to account hospitality at away games too), excluding european trips or pre season trips.
So, would I pay more to sign an extra player when I see little time or financial effort from those running the club? Frankly no.

He will sign next week, with McMillan's contract being ended by mutual consent.
The talk of a loan deal is a non starter, but serves a purpose that it indicates that Saints are still interested in May. Don't think for a second that Tommy doesn't use the media when he needs to.
Would expect Anderson to go too, depending on Gordon showing he has fully recovered from injury.
Tommy will also need to do a repair job on Kane's confidence. Feel for Kane as when he came back from QOS, he looked full of confidence and hungry, but that seems to of evaporated over time. He is suffering from not having a proven goalscorer alongside him.
