I've watched both debates in horrified fascination and you're right, the feeling is very similar to observing Sevco's multiple meltdowns. Trump comes across very much like a Sevco/UKIP type: the ludicrous hubris and entitlement coupled with appalling personal conduct and an inability to construct even the simplest of coherent sentences due to the insurmountable challenge of terminal stupidity. Clinton would be Celtic: pretty rank herself, but if you absolutely, absolutely had to choose, you'd choose her.

Seen anyone famous there yet? You could play "hunt the celeb" and then ask for their autograph, pretending you think they are someone else. Did that to someone from Bucksfizz at an airport once, great way of passing the time, and their little faces.....

Pretty soon a team is not going to let them back into the game, the speculative 40 yard free kicks will hit row Z, and they are going to get a real humping. UK BBC had them "extending their lead at the top of the league" this morning. Bless.

Anybody else hear Peter Lovenkrants say pre-match on Sportsound that he thought Rangers would challenge Celtic for the title this year!
    What a ****in idiot
Tom English didn't leave him short about what he thought their chances were. He reckoned 3rd or 4th at very best (between them and Hearts - but also mentioned Saints being in that mix)
At HT he went further and thought they would be lucky to finish top 6

Statistically speaking, there is nothing at all unusual about one team getting 20 out of 28 home draws. The classic probability curve is bell-shaped, with the ones forming the rim at either end called outliers. What would be really, really weird is if there wasn't a team that got 20 out of 28 (or so) given the number involved. There is almost certainly a team that got 20 out of 28 away draws (or so). The idea that this in itself is damning is in fact quite the opposite of the truth - an absence of outliers would be far more convincing evidence of manipulation.
However, if we were all asked to guess in advance what team might get 20 out of 28 home draws, I reckon 90% of us would have guessed Sevco right away. A conspiracy theory is born. At the heart of it is the notion that the football authorities, for various reasons including financial, loyalty, sectarianism etc, wanted Sevco back at the top, and sought to support them in that, primarily through dodgy financial support. So what do home draws actually get you?
It isn't rocket science. More games at home statistically, over time, produce more cup wins, which leads to more cash including the bonanza of semis and finals. Especially in the years when they are played on your own ground, another odd decision.
Perhaps more significantly, although cup gate takings are evenly split after costs, the takings are of course exponentially greater at Ibrox than at Brechin, or even the likes of Hearts.
The conspiracy theory also asserts that the aim is to get the Twisted Sisters together in the final. The number of times this has happened in the past seems to support this. Ah but, you say, Rangers and Celtic were drawn together in just the quarters and semi in the last few years. That can be countered by pointing to the fact that Sevco were pretty shit, and could not be relied upon to get further, as games against eg Saints and the Arabs showed.
Finally, say the conspiracy theorists, what is the record of the governing bodies  on this sort of thing in the past? Don't think we need to waste much time on that one!
in conclusion, you have the makings of a fairly healthy conspiracy theory, but not one that you should base on statistical probability - as I say, one team getting 20 out of 28 home draws is evidence not of manipulation, but a lack of manipulation.
Is it true? Well it stinks, and the bosses certainly have the opprtunity and the motivation. The problem comes with the means, not so much how is it done - it would require the simplest of techniques such as balls heated or roughened up - but how you would maintain the conspiracy of silence. A fair few number would have to be in the know, many of them not of the twisted fraternities. How likely is it that none of them have ever spoken out!
My own best guess is that it is just one of those things, and that if anyone could be arsed, they could find all sorts of apparent statistical oddities over the years, some heavily favouring or discriminating against certain clubs.
Please carry on though - it's Braw fun!

I think it's part of the Saints fan psyche Smarmy, we've been a yoyo team for a long time, with only brief spells of relative success, until the last few years in which we have established ourselves as top flight club in my opinion.  What is unusual is that we went from a club on a firm financial footing to a successful club on a firm financial footing - there was no new investment to get us where we are, just hard work and a bit of luck.  I don't think any but the newest fans expect it to last forever though, and it does us good to recall the crap times too, to put where we are just now into perspective.
I think it's interesting that you say United 'considered' admin - it's a funny world in football where admin is considered as an option - when by its nature it is a last resort.
It is a tough league to escape from though.  The league cup group stages highlighted that when bigger teams play a few games against smaller clubs, the wheels will come off at some point.  So many teams in these leagues know how to win, whether it's pretty or not.  I agree that no team should expect to win every game because they are a bigger club, and I hope United come through this season and get back up.  I don't think there is any danger of relegation again.

Gentlemen, I am happy to inform you that this discussion has been brought to a definitive conclusion. The Beloved visited Campus today with a view to buying me the new top for my birthday, took one look at it, and left.
She has decided it is "shite tat". She also wishes to know "who the **** is Alan Storrar".
You may now turn to other matters.

Its not just a football strip, it's our identity as muckers from Perth. This identity is discussed over and over again and goes back to strips introduced for decades. It is extremely important to a lot of people on here.So if a shite strip or sponsor logo is allowed to be marketed and it is shite.....then opinions will happen. S it is far from just a T shirt as described by our honourable friend from Aberfanny.

My very first top circa 73 ish was a blue v neck Umbro i think
I bought it from St.Johnstone Aid Club in Methven street days when replica tops were practically unheard of ( At smaller teams anyway
I had to use my Berry money to pay for it ( Thats going get under 30s wondering )
It had a sewn on Lamb badge if memory serves me right and after a few years and many many a spin on the washing machine the badge began to fall off to reveal an Everton badge underneath.

Good on Alan Storrar Cars and Saints for the sponsorship deal.
To suggest it it tin pot is an insult to both parties. Alan Storrar cars have obviously put forward a deal which the club feel will be beneficial. I'm not sure the board of directors were having to fend off the advances of several multi national companies desperate to sponsor Saints.

Looking forward to seeing how this works out (even though I can't help but feel that the lower league teams have sort of had their competition stolen from them).
Will be interesting to see what sort of crowds we get for our team's under-20 matches - bearing in mind that with this set-up we could end up with our under-20 team playing against the first teams of Hibs or Dundee Utd. Equally we could get our Under-20 team travelling to Wales or Northern Ireland for a competitive match - would we take much support to such a match? I really like the fact that the games are to be played during international weekends.
Personally I reckon under-20 is a very young age cap for playing against experienced professionals, and wonder if perhaps the Under-20 teams should be allowed to field a couple of over-age players.

Tam Scobbie is exactly the type of player every club needs. Need a left back? He'll play. Need a centre half? He'll play. Need a midfielder? He'll play. Need a goalie? Tam will do it. Need a player to get totally wasted after a great Euro performance and spend a night with the fans celebrating?  He'll do it. Important penalty in a Euro game? Tam will take it.
Honestly, he may have his limitations but you can't fault the guy. If you asked him clean the bloody toilets for Saints I'm sure he'd do it.
I also think it's easy to remember his mistakes but who remembers all of his last ditch, goal saving tackles? He puts it on the line every time he plays. St Johnstone are where we are now because of the Tam Scobbie's,  not because of fancy, flashy footballers.

No one deserted the SNP. Their vote increased. The Tories rose to a derisory 22%. The unionist/racist/Sevco vote is coelescing around Roothie because Dugdale is feckin useless, has no idea what her party stands for, and is perceived as soft on independence. Despite all the media shit, nothing much really changed.

IMO Scottish politics is now caught on a hook.  A constitutional bun fight is all that matters......interesting how everyone blames the Labour Party for everything even the Tory resurgence I suppose myths are real in terms of consequences.   The only party who talked issues was the Labour Party the rest postured about the constitution................the SNP doing the work of the right since 1934, and they still are!  Tartan Tory or Real Tory......coke or pepsi, the organised working class out of office and reduced to 20% of the vote....well done all you patriots get yer flags oot.............. while the footbanks grow and public services are scrapped or sold off!

I'm just surprised a faux-philosophical gent like he isn't morally tortured by the thought of representing a bastion of institutional sectarianism that features prominently in any discussion on Scotland's social ills over the last century.
I'm aware its easy to say when I don't actually have the offer and money on the table, but I don't think I could sleep at night knowing my wage was being paid by that despicable organisation, and if the money ever made me forget a quick look at the human trash making up a noticeable % of the stands (arguably short of 100), would swiftly remind me.

I don't buy the  " nothing left to play for" tag.Every game matters and this one  in no exception.
Firstly it would be pleasant to put on a good show for the TV cameras, Then it would be great to finally end the long running fallacy that the Sheep had any chance of winning the title by  turning them over again. Also, some players are now running out of time to show they are worth another deal.  Fourth place ( Euro spot or not) is a fine achievement for a club of our resources. We have the extra revenue that this spot brings to play for as well. Maybe the manager will blood some more youngsters . I would love to see Clark get his chance.
