First Saints player to score at McDiarmid.
Branded a hammer thrower by Souness after Oleg Kuznetzof  got injured in a challenge with him.
Good midfielder who seemed to score regularly if my memory is right.

I find it incredible that the league rules allow Celtic to not allow away fans a legitimate way to see their team on Sunday.
I know there are other ways to see the game but can’t help but think if this was the other way round there would be a big fuss made.

I have connections to Brora as my wife’s family live there and go to watch them when up there so see them a few times each year.

The Brora not wanting to come up and throwing the game against Montrose is a bit of a myth that’s grown over the years.
What is true is that in the build up the Brora chairman did express concerns as to how it would work for the club to be in the Scottish league with the traveling involved and extra costs, also the small size of their support. They went into the games giving it a good go though.
When Brora played Kilmarnock in the cup there were 400 fans in the Away end at Rugby Park, that equates to a third of the village.
They didn’t forfeit or throw the game against Montrose, I was as all the games, they played Edinburgh City and beat them over two legs.
They beat Montrose in Brora but in the second leg with the score at 1-1 they had their best player and captain Steven MacKay sent off around half time.
Montrose did score two late goals but not because Brora threw it, it was two late goals scored against a tired 10 men playing  a fourth tough game in a short period of time.
Having seen how well Cove have done I think Brora now most definitely want promotion, a play off with Kelty would have been very close, I think both teams would have won their home games with whichever team who won beating Brechin, We ll never know though.
The team back when they played Montrose had a lot of older ex Inverness and Ross County players, now Steven MacKay is the manager and they have a younger team.
Not sure what the play off situation is at end of this year, Lowland league are aiming to play full season whereas Highland league are playing a shortened season so possibly the Highland league winners could be fresher for play offs.

    Finished it tonight.
Great read , really captures a picture of what you d imagine Perth and society was like in the 30s.
Not about football but Saints and local Junior scene get mentioned.

    My preordered copy came today.
Not read it yet but glanced through it and the book took me to page 181
Looks a good read for any Saints fans and Perth folk.

Have regularly paid to go watch Saints at Ibrox over the years the same as all the other grounds, at this time buying the game to watch on TV is no different so I plan to buy it.
Much as I hate giving Rangers credit but £9.99 is a decent price.

Open Goal with Si Ferry tonight has Richard Foster as a guest.
Interesting listen, says he made up with Tommy, has talked with him a few times throughout lockdown and that he regrets his fall out with Tommy and how it ended at Saints.
He wasn’t suprised Tommy left and hints at things Tommy wasn’t happy with behind scenes.

Same story as SaintJet really, frustrating journey down , made it to ground just as game kicked off to be met with the view in picture of queue at ticket office.
One lass from St Mirren was at least a bit proactive to the situation and came out of office to sell adult tickets for cash only which helped speed our progress a bit.
Horrible game to watch but then puts everything into perspective when going home and driving past all the police on the closed bit of motorway and then the green security screens like you see in horse racing and realise somebody has died there that night.

Strawman got a reaction from Tranmere Saintee in 3 Stands for Old Firm
There was a section of our support allowed to stand as well.
I often think it is a misconception that Saints fans want to stand, I don t have any stats to back this up but I think the majority of our support probably prefer sitting.
Sunday I looked at the three stands of standing Celtic fans and thought that it must be driving some folk away from watching football. What about the elderly or unfit who just couldn't stand for 90 mins.
I enjoyed the day out at Ayr standing but my preference at McDiarmid is to sit in my seat to watch football.
As it turned out my ticket on sunday ended up being right in the bit where everyone was standing, no issue as I simply just moved along a bit to a spare seat but there was no mention on Friday when I bought my ticket that this was an area the club were going to allow standing.
I totally get some folk prefer standing and would love an official standing area. I d just prefer the clubs ( not just Saints. most teams I think are at fault with this) came out and let people know where it is allowed and where it isn't and then people can make a choice.
I go to games with friends, my dad and my laddie, sons at an age he d rather go with his mates and they d rather stand, dads in his 80s and just couldn't stand for that length of time, I could stand easy enough and regularly watch lower league football where standings the only option but given a choice I d sit.
what annoys me ( and it happens at games down south more than at Saints to be fair ) is when lads arrive near ko, head near the front and then insist on standing, this give a domino effect of forcing everyone behind to stand, most of whom probably don't want to.
Every team I think would benefit from making safe standing areas both for home and away fans, would probably bring more young lads back to the game as they would know before they went somewhere that they are allowed to stand.

It’s seems strange situation, I bought tickets for myself friday, numbered seats, no mention of singing section.
Was back up yesterday to get ticket for a friend and was asked about singing section.
They should have just made it sit anywhere like the Rangers game, I can see today some people wanting the seat they ve bought and others wanting to congregate together.

One of the problems from Thursday night was that we got a quick glance at these slides and took various things from them.
I would have liked the opportunity to look over them again or for Saints to publish them, although I understand why they might not want to.
I thought we had the 8th highest average wage though rather than 8th highest overall budget which would be different, I may well be wrong though.

£100 million ? I m not sure the Browns could put their hands on that much but even supposing they could why would they want to.
I can find information online that shows Geoff Brown on the Times Rich list valued at £52m that was in 2008 and I imagine takes into account how much his business and assets are all worth.
While wealthy the Browns aren't super wealthy they could be bank rolling a football team I don t think.
Even within Perthshire there will be wealthier families.

The Saints TV bit just annoys me, its £5.99 I think for a UK subscription, I don t know anyone that I see at games who subscribes though.
Its not I cant afford it , its just it seems silly, the Montrose game particularly annoyed me, I paid to get up there, paid to get in, we were crap and lost but you then put the managers and players interviews about the game on a channel I ve no access to unless I pay.

Through my work I ve been a guest in the boardroom a few times in the past and would totally disagree with this.
On a match day the directors are very hands on and busy,  they certainly aren’t sitting back eating free hospitality as your post infers.
In the boardroom there is coffee/tea , sandwiches, soup etc along with the usual alcohol you would expect to have there to offer a guest.
On my visits it’s been Stan Harris who has poured me a drink himself and made sure we had everything we wanted, much the same way as you would treat a guest in your house.
If anything I ve thought there’s not enough of them to play the host role but from my experience they are hardworking and do it very well.
Its not a bunch of guys sitting scoffing freebies, I imagine most of the directors are lucky if they have one drink and a bowl of soup before a game as they make sure guests are ok.
They give up their time for no pay from the club, while I don’t always agree with everything the club do, it’s wrong to portray the guys running it as anything other than hard working individuals.
I actually am of a total opposite opinion, if like some teams we had paid directors or certainly more paid staff I think that would make a difference, ourselves and football clubs in general rely heavily on volunteers, that’s fine but with a volunteer you are always going to get a doing my best approach rather than outcome you can target to a paid employee.
I get it’s money though and there’s only a certain amount of money the club generates.

Was at this, young lads did well on a horrible wet night.
I suspect the plan was to give Liam Gordon 70 mins and it was more a priority to not risk him for longer than it was try win the game as he looked good and I don’t think was injured or anything when he came off. The defence didn’t look as good once he came off and no doubt it influenced the game.
