This could go on and on! I take your point, the league table does not lie, if you are relegated its because you were not good enough, If you are promoted its because yoiur deserve to be.  That said, in 2015 when United were relegated I watched the most piss poor football ever, Celtic were way too strong and sh@gged everyone, (quadruple treble ffs!) Partick, Killie, County, Inverness, Hamiton, Dundee where designed purely for scratching out points to survive, flowing football was at a premium, gamesmanship of all kinds, kicking, timewasting, feigning injury, crowding the ref, as team after team came for a point (invariably leaving with 3) it was brutal.  We rightfully went down after depending on a real throwback, an old style big shouty man bawling from the sidelines.  I honestly think this season coaches are a bit more creative and ambitous the football is better as a result. I'm not just talking about oor Tam, dare I say, look at the difference between Tommy and Calum. Lets say Tommy's team had a certain muscularity who knew how to harvest points, Calum's team last season showed real guile and endeavour in how they set up that was evident all season and was rightly rewarded.   Dundee and County have both played some good football this season neither are cut adrift, Aberdeen made a brave move in sacking Del whose teams were stale to say the least, Livi putting faith in their young coach is paying dividends.  This seasons relegation might just go all the way and there may well be 4 teams involved.

Of course it's the strongest league in a while. You've replaced Hamilton with Hearts, and every side looks better this season apart from us and maybe Livi & Rangers.
We're paying the price for bad planning in the transfer window. What worries me most is that Davidson is actually quite happy to settle for sub-standard performances. The fact that he thinks Crawford and MacPherson have been is so good is beyond me. His signings so far have been loans, oldies with a year or two left in them, and foreign players he doesn't give any game time to.
Imagine if he'd have actually given Melamed more of a chance last year, and he'd have therefore signed another contract. We'd be in a far better position I think.

I think some folk are confusing “strongest it’s been for a while” with “strong”. The former is obviously true, the latter is arguable. Which is what forums are for.

I know who Chris Sutton appears to favour! Might be a tad too early, unlike his substitutions.

I don’t gamble as a rule, it’s the only vice I don’t have. However,  on this occasion if BH can name a worthy charity close to his heart, I could be tempted to have a fun £50 on that prediction.

You think? In the 2nd half Nikansen, Levitt, Pawlett tore you apart, only the keeper stopped a proper hiding.  If that’s your outfield being ‘immense’ your are in trouble.

Great goal from Crawford, outstanding international quality performance from Clark.

Hard one to take, all the other results went for us 3point dropped!

I've just watched the highlights for the first time and I'm genuinely baffled by how MacPherson is being given the blame.
First goal: Ambrose fails to stop the cross from the right. MacPherson is one of the players in the box who doesn't manage to get a tackle in, but so is Rooney. None of the defenders cover themselves in glory for this one.
Second goal: MacPherson passes a perfectly acceptable ball back to Craig. Craig then passes it back to Clark. The goal then comes from a mix-up between Clark and McCart. How is MacPherson to blame for that?
Third goal: MacPherson is tracking his man back into the box as the goal is scored. His man isn't the one who scores.
Personally think MacPherson has looked pretty promising in both of his performances so far. He rarely seems to lose the ball, and his corners are looking like an upgrade on what we've had previously. We actually created a couple of goalscoring opportunities from MacPherson's corners (Craig's lob that hit the bar and Ambrose's header that went just over), which is a nice change from what we usually do!

I was disgusted at Pittodrie some seasons back when a small number of our fans were singing about Jamie Langfield's wife. That was vile.
As for abuse directed towards Alan Main or Leigh Griffiths, that's out of order, whether 1999 or 2021. We take one aspect of a person's character, magnify it out of all proportion and write them off accordingly. It's hardly civilised and can't be written off as banter or merited.
48 years you've won *%€$ all. Double cup winners, you'll never sing that. That's good stuff. The personal abuse isn't. I'd also like us to be much better than this.

you make an Important point about the incessant abuse towards LG, for several consecutive matches now there appears to be people in the stands who will not be happy till the guy tops himself. We all enjoy a bit of witty banter but IMO this is now becoming something else.
I think you are being very generous to the individual who threw the flare though, never understand why a fan would put their own club in trouble, for what?

The treatment Alan Main received from the Derry was cruel, unnecessary and pretty outrageous…..and LG allegedly did stuff…..so it’s all fine!

Yep, and if you go back and watch the Saints v Dundee game from 1999 you'll hear that there was racial abuse aimed at Miguel Simao every time he touched the ball.
However - with apologies for the cliche - two wrongs don't make a right. I don't want to hear footballers being subjected to personal abuse at matches. We can't say "the other team's fans have done it (or done it worse), so it's OK for us to do it". And we can't say "that's just the way football fans are." We are the fans. If we want to change these things, it's up to all of us collectively to change them.
For me, the stuff being aimed at Leigh Griffiths during that match was unacceptable. And it's not the only unacceptable thing I've heard from Saints fans at matches. I'd like for us to be much better than this.

Smarmy Arab got a reaction from Abernethy Saint in The big COVID-19 Shutdown
Debatable whether or not this action is necessary or helpful, but the sight of a government minister Googling a definition of a ‘night’club’ during a such an important parliamentary debate, at such a crucial time for businesses hanging by a thread is a new low for Holyrood, and that is up against some stiff competition of late. Considering the hammering hospitality etc has taken over the Covid period it was a quite despicable to see our parliament treated with such utter contempt.  The ‘Minister’ responsible could not even outline the basic principles of the action, she should be sacked (again!)
